Wittman, Maryland
A converted barn house with updated finishes is the perfect spot for your vacation on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
Surrounded by water and farmland, the Jane Lowe barn is a 3,500-square-foot private property. The home is situated on a three-acre stretch on a protected inlet, nestled between St. Michaels and Tilghman Island.
Discover the serenity of the Chesapeake Bay, watching blue herons, bald eagles and osprey from your front window. Cozy up and watch the birds and fish, crab or sun from the floating dock. Kayak, play lawn games and watch the sun set from the beach or living room.
The house has everything you need; areas to lounge, nooks to read, a massive game room with a pool table, poker table, foosball, and board games, flat screen TVs for shows, movies and satellite WIFI for internet and four large bedrooms for 6+ people to sleep comfortably. Eat, drink and entertain with the help of a brand new double convection oven, a barbecue, decks, and balconies.
Downtown St. Michaels and all of its attractions are very close, as is Easton.
This property was absolutely beautiful, amazing, stunning! Pictures do it no justice. We swam in the gorgeous pool. Made s’mores around the campfire. Kayaked on the creek. And the barn cottage was perfect. We saw deer, squirrels, fish and beautiful great white egrets. We loved it there.
Our long-awaited vacation did not disappoint. The location was very quiet which was great. We loved kayaking on the river and didn't have to compete with speedboats. The pool was a great plus. St. Michaels was a quick 20 minutes down the road if we wanted more to do. The home was well appointed and comfortable. Overall, a wonderful vacation.
Remote, serene, beautiful property, far enough from the busy town of St. Michael's, but only a 15-minute drive if we wanted to be there! We loved everything about the home - from the dock overlooking the water, to the ample comfortable rooms, to the quaintly decorated living area. The pool was not ready for swimming, which was disappointing, but may be early in the season(?) -- be sure to check before you go if you're expecting the pool! Otherwise, everything was really perfect, and we're looking forward to our next stay!
What a perfect spot to get up and have coffee with a beautiful Waterview or have a glass of wine and watch the sunset.
We stayed here for a much needed family vacation and it was everything we expected and more. It’s close to a lot of cool places yet the place itself is more rural. We cooked dinner there and kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. The owner(Heather) was so helpful and right away let us know where we could get food and what places were good to visit. She was such a great host. My only complaint was that we couldn’t stay longer.
Lovely property with great space to hang out and catch up with friends.
Those house was the absolute coolest. It was perfect for my husband, mother and sister in law and 2 kids under 4. The two downstairs bedrooms were big and great for my in laws who can’t do stairs. The master and upstairs loft were perfect. The decor and the look was beautiful and I loved cooking in the kitchen. You can see the lake from the living room and we enjoyed watching all the awesome birds. There is a perfect sandy beach spot for fishing and a doc. My little ones loved it. The pool we shared was beautiful! We felt like we were on a resort. Very short drive to town! Will absolutely stay here again.
As owners of multiple rental properties ourselves, my husband and I tend to notice but understand the minor glitches and misses that can occur with any rental home. We also notice exceptional experiences and even occasionally discover great ideas we hadn’t thought of. It’s just an occupational hazard of being a rental owner. We will admit though, some places we stay at miss the mark completely and others absolutely nail it. This property and its owners - absolutely nailed it. Heather was frankly one of the most considerate and do the right thing owners I think we’ve encountered in a very long time. A slight glitch occurred on our late arrival (not the owner’s fault), when the cleaning company had not yet been to cleanthe property. This easily could have resulted in us being frustrated and annoyed BUT Heather performed vacation Jedi mind tricks and redirected our attention to other wonderful aspects of the area, reminding us why we came. We soon didn’t care we could not unload and get settled just yet... because she chatted with us by phone - gave us a verbal tour of the area and offered wonderful suggestions to keep us busy while the crew did their cleaning thing. This resulted in my daughter and I going shopping for food while my husband and son kayaked and explored. Who needed to check in? We were enjoying the surrounds! And it was perfect. Once in the home, we found a nicely appointed kitchen and very comfortable accommodations. The home was casually decorated offering the perfect mix of a functional and welcoming backdrop for our stay. A new experience for us - the game room, was absolutely perfect. (This was an example of a great idea we had never thought of.) We played billiards, poker and foozball and frankly had a blast. I sat and read one evening on the Adirondack chairs while watching the sun go down over the water and my husband and I took multiple nature walks throughout the week. We definitely used the kayaks and appreciated the privacy of the area. I highly recommend this and it’s sister home, also located on the property. I expect we will return and rent both homes for a larger family gathering in the future. Overall - Heather and her family get a 5 STAR from us. Thank you for a wonderful and much needed week away!
We loved everything about this property. The outdoor space was beautiful and peaceful and the house had everything we needed and more. We hope to all go back sometime in the near future.
Only two hours from DC and it felt a million miles away. Adorable cottage with all the modern amenities (and one hell of a stove) yet, rustic enough to help you appreciate the simple things. Slept like a baby. Geese, blue heron and one impressive bald eagle all stopped by to say hello. We will definitely come back but will be sure to bring some friends, as the pool table and game room on the second floor need a good audience. Thanks for the hospitality!
