Stayed Aug 2, 2025We had the most wonderful stay! The property is absolutely beautiful, with plenty of space both inside and out. We were a group of 10 and had more than enough room for everyone to spread out comfortably. In fact, the house was so spacious that we were able to host 20 people for a clam bake, and it never once felt crowded. The layout was perfect for a family gathering—so many common rooms to hang out together in close proximity, but also enough separation when you wanted a little quiet. The bedrooms were all generously sized, giving everyone their own comfortable space, and the outdoor balconies were such a treat for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The location couldn’t have been better—just a short walk to the ocean and only a few minutes from the top of Aquinnah, where you’ll find what is truly the best view on the Vineyard. It felt like we had the perfect mix of privacy and accessibility. The home itself has so much quirky charm, full of character and personality. While the kitchen isn’t modern, it worked just fine for everything we needed, and the overall atmosphere more than made up for it.A special shoutout to Elise—she was amazing! So friendly, thoughtful, and quick to help with anything we needed. She really went above and beyond, which made our experience even more memorable. This is the kind of place where you immediately feel relaxed and at home. We can’t wait to come back!

Stayed Jun 21, 2021Our group of 8 rented this house for a week and it was just what we needed to relax and unplug. There is plenty of room for both privacy and group gatherings, stunning ocean and sunset views from multiple decks, and a great location in Aquinnah. Our host Elise made the stay easy and comfortable and had great advice for walks, beaches, and wildlife. We hope to return!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Duck Inn in Aquinnah on Martha's Vineyard is such a sublime vacation rental that I'm a bit apprehensive to share my secret! Alas, it's too much of a treat to be missed. Having traveled extensively on the spectrum of budgets, this property is definitely as good as it gets. I've been blessed to have rented the old sea captain's house on numerous occasions and have stayed in all of the rooms over time. Given that each space has it's own ambience and perks, I have no preference -- knowing wherever I stay offers unique amenities. The common space is generous of both view and function. Dinner prepared in an authentic antique farm kitchen and served on the long table becomes an event, and the local farmer's market and seafood purveyors offer excellent quality. Ocean view sunsets from the rocking chairs on the deck are not to be missed, and a great location from which to Bar-B-Que in the Summer months. In the cooler months, your group can gather 'round the grand piano or hunker down in front of the old stone fireplace in the comfort of a cushy sofa and still see the show on the horizon through the expanse of glass doors and windows. The house is a bucolic walk to one of the planet's most amazing beaches. A slice of sand is punctuated by quintessential New England boulders and anchored by the most gorgeous background of striated clay cliffs in soothing tones of terra cotta, rose, dove and warm greys. Whatever adventures or quietude you take during the day, an evening in the hot tub beneath the stars with the lull of the ocean's surf, and you'll be sure to have sweet dreams. The owner, Elise LeBovit, is knowledgeable and gracious. The accommodations are friendly to all ages. The experience is extraordinary.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969this house in Aquinnah was a perfect getaway from the hectic pace of life. Took a hot steam in the cute sauna, then went for a moonlight walk on the beach, the sounds of the crickets and waves are so soothing. Love the room with the bathtub, pull back the curtains and you have a bath with a view of the ocean, so sweet. The other 2 rooms upstairs also have nice balconies with ocean views, and 2 have views of the lighthouse also, one room has a big framed bed and a twin bed, nice chaise lounge in one room. The cabin on the side of house was perfect for our teen, with a separate door that opens to give an ocean view. The downstairs was lovely with fireplace in the sitting room and porch swing on the backyard area. The sauna is in a little room off this area. The hot tub was perfect for 4 to sit and star gaze, so many stars here! The beach is a 5 min walk through a wooded path. You can walk up to the end of the road where there are some lunch spots, a few have dinner depending on the season, also gorgeous views from there. Do plan on food, as most other towns are about 20-30 minutes drive, so we brought groceries & wine with us and went out a few nights as well. Elise is great, having spent over 30 years here she knew everything about everything, great recommendation on Polly Hill arboretum & the farmers market. We will be back!
