Such a lovely, historic home with very interesting features. It looked just like the pictures, although the exterior may look a bit dingy - I think it is the pale green paint color. But once inside, it is a Victorian dream. So much character and charm. Do be advised that if using all 3 bedrooms, you should travel with good friends as you will need to go through the larger bedroom with the fireplace to get to the back bedroom - or enter from the outside directly into the back bedroom through the shutter doors (but you would need to unlock from the inside first). Also, the bathrooms are attached to two of the bedrooms, so again, you need to enter a bedroom to get to either bathroom. But aside from these small logistical concerns, the place is beautiful and harkens back to a romantic age. These features are just remnants of how houses were configured in days past. If you love history, as I do, you will love this place! Also, only a mile or so away are many shops and restaurants, including a large grocery store and an Walmart...And be sure to visit the Pointe Coupee Museum!
Nothing like the pictures it is old, not cleaned, a roach was in the bathtub. Looks like someone is still living there sometimes. Rented out for my wedding weekend, when I entered the place I was instantly depressed and wanted to cry. If you have allergies be prepared to bring some medication. All the floor in the entrance seemed to be falling apart. I did not feel comfortable cooking in the kitchen so that says a lot. Extremely disappointing!
The home was beautiful and exactly as shown. Was in a great area.
A charming historic home surrounded by grand oaks was a delightful place to stay near False River. We could see the river from the front porch which was our favorite place to sit. Every need you might have was provided. Our host, Joe was a good communicator but not overbearing. Even though the house was built in 1850, it was not haunted.
My family and pets stayed in this home for an entire week. Mr. Joe and his employees are so sweet and helpful. The place is so beautiful, I enjoyed my evening coffee while looking out across the beautiful yard and the gorgeous water just across the street. The woodwork is breathtaking. After each day of site seeing to the different cities this place became my sanctuary to recoup before the next day. Even my children were taken back by the place. When I do return to visit anywhere in Louisiana I will definitely be contacting Mr. Joe again.
It was a nice stay.
I wasn’t sure I was at the right place. The place looked nothing like the pictures. The pictures are very old. It is a very old house, with a desperate need of repair. The host was very nice and accommodating, he was staying in a place behind the house. I’m sorry to say but I wouldn’t rent it again.
