Stayed Jul 18, 2020The house is lovely and ideal for a family retreat. The roads and parking from the house are really restricted due to the narrow streets however this did not cause a problem. The house was well equipped with all the necessities that you would expect from home. The local beach/ supermarket and lake are all within a ten to twenty minute drive. We really enjoyed the lake as it has a restaurant and plenty of activities to keep our two teenage boys happy. Unfortunately there was a problem with internet and satellite TV during our stay (it was not working). This did cause some stress as you can imagine with two teenage boys but we dug deep into our pockets and paid for extra data and used our own wifi. Kevin the owner kept is up to date with information regarding the engineer. We did contact the local manager but did not get any response. I have recently been working In Intensive care during the Covid epidemic and was really looking forward to a rest. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this property. We were just unlucky. Thanks Kevin for your refund due to the issues. A lovely house with Impressive views and a friendly and knowledgeable owner.

Stayed Aug 17, 2019We loved the property- authentic and charming but modernised very effectively. Glad our cars weren’t big as the lanes and parking required some skill! Kevin was a great host so thanks to him. All the local towns were stunning - -great beaches and we loved our day at the lake. Very sad to leave such a stunning place.

Stayed Jul 8, 2017We really enjoyed our 2 weeks in this spacious, well equiped, quirky village house. All our meals where eaten on the terrace with it's wonderful far reaching views. So much to see and do - charming towns and villages to explore and a beautiful beach at Argeles-sur-Mer. Kevin was very helpful.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This is a very nice house in a lovely mountain village near the coast. It sits in the old heart of the mountain village of Montesquieu Des Alberes and retains it's old charm whilst provide modern facilities inside. The service we received from the owner was excellent, the property is well maintained, stocked and clean and the descriptions given are accurate. It's large terrace with superb views allows you to relax and eat outdoors, or stay in the cool of the house when it is too hot out. The beaches of the Pyrenees Orientale's coast are 15 minutes away by car, as well as many other places of interest if you so wish. There are plenty of walks in the surrounding hills right on your doorstep, as well as being a popular location for cyclists. The lake at St. Jean pla de Corts, 15 minutes away, is great for families, with high ropes courses, pedalos, kayaks and swimming etc. Barcelona is within easy reach and if flying, worth considering as an arrival destination.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Huge apologies to Kevin for not submitting a review if this gorgeous property sooner. I can think of no bad points I really enjoyed the sonorous stairs. You cannot beat a cupboard full of useful beach stuff. Watching the sunset and stars from the patio whilst swallows wheel and squeak. Naturally cool in roasty weather with fans to help.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This house in Montesquieu des Alberes was beautiful and absolutely perfect for us. We loved the spacious size of it and the facilities it had. We found it extremely well equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. It was clean and well maintained. The bedrooms were large and spacious with magnificent views from the windows. It has a huge safe walled balcony area which is great for outside dining, BBQ and soaking up the sun. Parking was a little tricky as the roads near the house were quite narrow with limited parking spaces available. Most of the time you needed to park a little further back which didn't cause much of a problem or reflect on the location of the house in any way. The village was beautiful and friendly. A small circus came to the village which was a great family run show. On a Thursday evening a pizza van comes to the village and makes fantastic home made pizza to order. There is no shop in the village but there is one in the next village and a large supermarket a short drive away. The house is very well situated for exploring the surrounding area with some fabulous large sandy beaches nearby and beautiful coastal roads. Our favourite places to visit were: Castelnou - a beautiful mountain village. Collioure & Port Vendres - two very attractive harbours. Cucugnan - a beautiful mountain fortress village. Villefranche & Mont Louis - the yellow train is a must. Tautavel - prehistoric site and museum. Plan D'Eau - two beautiful large lakes with water ski and many activities for children and adults. Barcelona - this is a must. It was only a 2 hour drive away and there was a lot to see however it can be quite expensive. The gaudi architecture at Park Guell and Sagrada Familia were fantastic. The whole area was a beautiful region of France with so much to see and not enough time to see it in one go. The owner Kevin Holloway provided excellent customer service and was extremely helpful and responsive with any questions we asked. The whole experience from the initial first contact through to the booking of the house, the holiday itself and the aftercare service on our return was a pleasant one and just what we required from our well earned holiday. A big thank you to the owner Kevin for making our stay such a pleasant and enjoyable one and we hope to return to the area in the near future and stay at this property again. We would highly recommend this property to our friends and family.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed ten glorious days with our three children and had a fantastic time. On arrival, we were amazed at how much trouble the owners had taken to leave information about the workings of the house. How many times have I cursed as I've tried to work out how someone else's television/DVD is set up - not a problem in this house as all the instructions (not just to the television/DVD of course) were written with warmth and clarity. The property was spotless. The kitchen was fully equipped. The bathroom was simply a joy. On the occasions when we fancied having a lazy day at home, the house was spacious enough for our kids to run around without getting under our feet. The children loved their bedroom and we loved ours. We all loved the terrace and breakfasts and dinners were frequently eaten outside under the well-placed canopy. Barbecues became an almost daily occurrence. A large supermarket was about 5 - 10 minutes by car and as we passed it on our way home, it was incredibly handy for all the shopping needs of a family of five. Not only had the owners thought of all the questions we might ask about the house with their clear instructions, they'd also thought about what we might ask about the surrounding areas. No need for us to have brought a guidebook as there were up-to-date leaflets for all the local and regional sights and attractions. The house was perfectly placed to explore this beautiful corner of south-west France. We travelled to beautiful beaches, small country towns in the hills, and we even made it across the border to Figueres to visit the Dali Museum. This house allowed us to have the perfect holiday – easy access to lots of activities but a pleasure to stay in when all we wanted to do was relax and recuperate.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The house is located in the small village Montesquieu des Alberes about 12 kilometers from the sea (you need a car). This location is of great advantage because it is quiet and far from the turbulences of the places along the coast (Argeles). Nevertheless within about twenty minutes of driving one can enjoy different types of beaches from flat, sandy beaches to dunes and to rocky coasts. Interesting cities are nearby (we visited Collioure, Ceret and Perpignan) and the hills and mountains in the surrounding area are worth to be discovered by foot. The house itself is comfortable and clean and the equipment listing is accurate. The house provides a lot of space, good beds, a good supply with hot water, a very well equipped kitchen and a spacious terrace with a wonderful view over the landscape. It is convenient that enough beach towels are also available. The people in the neighbourhood were all friendly and helpful. There is one small store in the village which supplies basic food and serves also as the only inn of the village. All together, we would like to come again sometimes.
