Savannah, Georgia
This two-story clapboard house was once a boarding house for railroad workers. It still has the charm of yesteryear with a wooden staircase, grainy wood flooring, and fireplaces. It’s been given a modern touch by its current owner–an artist & graduate of Savannah College of Art & Design.
There are many cool paintings & creative touches (the standout yellow front door among them) that we’ve taken to calling this the “Artist’s House.” You won’t find a more picturesque corner of Savannah to stay.

This property is very close to Forsyth Park and definitely walkable to the River Walk (about 1 mile). Most days we walked down to the river and then took an Uber back later at night. We had a rental car, but chose to just leave it parked at the VRBO unless we were doing sight seeing by car. Finding parking downtown Savannah is tough and it is all paid parking. We didn’t see any free parking anywhere. The beds at this property were very comfortable and we had everything we needed for our stay.
Only drawback was very very step stairway to the apartment. Otherwise, it was great!
Great property! Great stay. Very clean and neat old house that is a comfortable place to stay in Savannah.
Great location near Forsyth park.Neighborhood was very nice and felt safe even walking at night.House was clean and very comfortable.
The property was just three short blocks from Forsyth Park, which made exploring historic Savannah very convenient! The apartment was comfortable, spacious, and included basic amenities. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the original artwork.
The owners were engaging, wanting to make sure we we happy and available if we had any questions. Provided us with info on activities happening in Savannah. Place was very clean and comfortable, we highly recommend staying here.
Walking distance to everything you need! Great place with plenty of room for at least 4 people.
neat change of pace from traditional hotel sstays,
Great place Great location
Returning soon to magical Savannah and the Artist's House. It was clean, amenities galore, almost quiet (garbage day!), and homey comfortable.
My family and I were here a year ago visiting SCAD for my daughter. Everything from our Vrbo to the city of Savannah and the college was amazing. Our return visit was even better. We were able to stay longer and really enjoy ourselves. The Artist house is so convenient to everything. Most of all it is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay with parking (most places charge extra)! I highly recommend the list of restaurants suggestions by the owner, especially Crystal Beer Parlor. It may look like just a bar with food, but it was exceptional. I never would have thought to go there because of all the other more high profile restaurants, but it was one of the highlights. The owner of the Artist House really goes above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful stay. We hope to stay here again whenever we visit our daughter.
Very accommodating and when we arrived the house cleaner even offered to help carry our luggage.
