East Jordan, Michigan
Come and enjoy our true up north lake house. The lake house is nestled in the woods with a private walking path to beautiful Lake Charlevoix. You can spend your morning enjoying natures gifts and afternoons sitting on the dock watching sail boats go by. Make memories around the campfire roasting marshmallows over the large fire pit, firewood provided. The cabin is just minutes from the downtime life of Boyne City and the Ironton Ferry is located a few miles down the road. This true up north retreat is a year around vacation. Take advantage of Michigan's fall beauty or enjoy your days cross country skiing. This home is located 10-15 minutes from Boyne Mountain.
The cottage is completely furnished including linens and towels for all five bedrooms and three and a half baths. The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances and a double wall oven. Or if you'd prefer to cook outside, fire up the oversized gas grill on the attached front porch.
This is the second year in a row that we rented this cabin and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay again. The weather was not cooperative, so we spent more time inside the cabin and we had planned, but given how ring me it is, it was just fine. I appreciate if they got the swim pad because that was a lot of fun for the kids this year. Rented kayaks down in Boyne and so we had those for most of our stay which was fun. Highly recommend this cabin, it is a great location and very clear. As I said, in my other review, it’s not necessarily the fanciest of cabins but it’s really clean and has lots of room and great views and is on great property. The owner is really responsive and nice. As is the property manager.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with family and friends at this unique cottage. The layout allowed our group of 9 (4 adults & 5 kids) to spread out while still having a main common area to play games at night. Smores at the awesome fire pit were a hit. But the highlight is the private beach area and easy water access. We even snuck across the street for a round of 9 holes of golf a couple of times. We would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area!
We had a blast. Great view down by water. Perfect place for a group. We had 9 and never felt crowded.
We rent up in the Petoskey/ Charlevoix/ Harbor Springs area each summer so we have a lot of experience with different rental properties. This one was really great, particularly the location. It definitely has a great ‘cabin on the lake in the woods’ feel but is only about a 5 minute drive to downtown Boyne. In addition, the main ‘pros’ that stood out to us include: perfectly clear water for swimming (some rocks in the first few feet but no muck, no vegetation); two ‘sitting areas’ outside (one campfire area closer to the cabin and a second on a nice wood ‘deck/platform’ at the shore); things seemed ‘clean’…not necessarily new or super fancy but clean in a way a lot of rentals aren’t); quiet surroundings (no noise from neighboring properties); and as another reviewer noted…there is plenty of space to accommodate people who may not always want to be on top of each other. Only a few small ‘cons’ (if you can call them that): the spiral staircase felt more ‘death-defying’ than I imagined….likely just me, and it DID dissipate a bit with time, but I found them a little dicey to manage; small kitchen (as others already noted) but that was ok for us; no ‘yard’ (grassy area to set up badminton or volleyball, etc); no water crafts / toy type stuff (which may have been in the description and we just missed it). Overall, we had a fantastic time and will likely rent again next summer!! Owner and property manager were both friendly and responsive. We bought a new butcher block knife set as our ‘thank you / hostess gift’ so for anyone who rents this cabin in the future, rest assured there is a nice set of knives (a personal ‘must have’ for us :)).
Great home for sharing with 3 families! It could have been a little closer to the lake but overall a great stay!
The kids loved playing in the water on the large foam pad anchored next to the dock. Like most Lake Charlevoix shoreline, especially since high water levels are the norm, there is no sandy beach, but the bottom is sandy so we just got in from the dock. There is a nice “deck” seating area for sunbathing. The house has a game room with a large screen smart tv for tuckered out kids to watch something in the evening, and another upstairs living area so young and old can socialize separately. Each of the four bedrooms (one is actually two roomes with a Jack and Jill bath) has a full bath, so the number the place can accommodate can have privacy without lines/waiting. The kitchen is a galley, so whoever is cooking/cleaning needs a strict “no grazing while I am working” policy, but it is fully equipped and its small space actually makes it efficient. With a wrap around deck on three sides and outdoor tables on two, as well as a large indoor dining table, several dining configurations are possible. The fire pit and ample wood supply makes for an easy s’more session. The two neighboring houses are owner occupied so it was not at all rowdy, and we observed the 10 pm quiet hour rule happily. The owners had ordered but not yet received dressers for unpacking, so I won’t mark down on the ground that we had to live out of suitcases more than I care to, as that supply chain issue is being addressed, but you may want to seek assurance that the dressers have arrived! This is the oeners’ first season, so I gave the owner a short list of little issues (more waste baskets, more house spices for cooking, more hooks to hang things on, etc), to all of which they were receptive. The chief advantages this place offers are nice living space, enough room to gather or do things separately, a sense of privacy, a lovely forest setting, and a very short walt to a bright, sunny area for relaxing by or getting into the water. The property manager was a plus: she responded quickly to any question by text. I think you will enjoy your stay — we did. If Charlevoix is your preference over Boyne City, do remember that a complete round trip on the ferry is about 8 minutes, and sometimes there is a line, so built a possible delay into your planning. The kids enjoyed the novelty of taking a ferry, but you should bear it in mind as a fact of life and use and plan each crossing to accomplish everything you need to do on the other. Shire.
We had a wonderful time here. The property itself is great and the layout is functional for a good size group or people. Would certainly stay again.
We had a party of 10 people, 3 families. We really enjoyed our stay at this house. We were at the lake every day paddle boarding and swimming near the dock. We enjoyed the fire pit a couple of nights. We were close to Boyne City and enjoyed dinner one night and stopped at the brewery another. The new oven in the kitchen was really nice because we could program it to bake our dinner while we were out at the lake. The kitchen space was small but it also had a window that you can slide open and hand out meats and tools for grilling which was cool, it kept the boys out of our hair while we were prepping food. There was a lot of space to spread out in the house so the kids had there own space as did the adults. All in all it was a fantastic place to stay and we really enjoyed our time here.
Our three families spent a week here enjoying the private dock and fire pit. Our group size was 10 for most of the week and a mix of adults, teens and younger kids. The bedroom layout suited us just fine although we hadn't noticed when we booked that two of the bedrooms are open lofts to the living space. The living space both on the main level and lower level were perfect! Many games of Connect Four were played over the course of the week. Reasonable drive to Boyne City for restaurants and supplies. The kitchen was the only real struggle we had with the house. It's pretty small and we typically cook most meals on property when we stay in a vrbo together. We made it work but it was tight. The local property manager was very responsive to our questions and requests and even left us some lovely treats to kick off our week.
This house was perfect for four generations of my family (3-93!) to stay at. There is plenty of room and a nice view of the lake from the balcony. There is also a nice deck on the lake which is just a short walk away. There are two family rooms so you can all meet together or have a little more private time. The kitchen was small but adequately stock with most common kitchen items. The house looked and smelled clean and the owner was very responsive. Two things to keep in mind if you rent this place: There are only three vehicles allowed in the driveway and, if you have a lot of very young or older members in your group, three of the bedrooms require using the spiral staircase. If these are not a concern for you then this may be the place you are looking for.
