Sebastopol, California
Welcome to our home in the heart and scintillating soul of Sonoma County. Our sunny 3-acre estate is perched on a rolling hill between Sebastopol and Occidental and is punctuated by majestic sweeping views of vineyards, orchards, redwoods and mountains. Enjoy the ever-changing beauty of our terraced perennial gardens, chardonnay vineyard and young olive grove. We invite you to share in the seasonal organic bounty of our fruit trees, assorted berries, vegetables, and herbs or meditate in our fragrant rose garden. Our recently purchased home has been lovingly renovated and updated to take full advantage of the lush Sonoma lifestyle. Abundant large windows and glass doors bring the outdoors in and highlight the varied vistas from every room, from sunrise to sunset to starry nights.
Furnished with style and comfort, we invite you to sink into overstuffed couches and chairs, put your legs up on ottomans and reclaimed wood coffee tables, and dine on the antique farm table or the vintage teakwood set under the stars. With multiple, comfortable eating and seating options available indoors and out, your most difficult decision will be where to sip your cappuccino or pinot noir.
If you enjoy cooking, you will appreciate our large, updated kitchen with a new 5-burner Italian gas range, double ovens and high-end small appliances and cookware. The built-in gas grill is conveniently located on the back deck for added cooking options. Or explore the health benefits of juicing with our Breville juicer - there is no better place on earth for organic vegetables and fruit from our gardens or local farmers.
We hope that you sleep long and well in the three thoughtfully designed and furnished bedrooms. The large master features a queen bed, ensuite bath with double sinks, enormous window with rose garden views and sliding glass doors onto the terraced back garden patio. The two other bedrooms boast antique double beds, oversized windows and beautiful rose garden or back terraced garden views. All of the bedrooms have spacious closets, and are furnished with a writing desk and a dresser. They also feature quiet ceiling fans, blackout shades and new pillow-top mattresses, down comforters, and quality linens for your added comfort.
The large living room with its cathedral ceiling is warmed by reclaimed wood beams, plush sage couches, antique side tables, opulent rugs, and multiple personal lighting options designed for reading and relaxing. It features a 47-inch flat screen television with Direct TV and a Blu-Ray DVD system. Our cozy corner library contains diverse offerings for your browsing or reading pleasure as well as a local section where you find guidebooks and practical information to help you optimize your stay in the slice of heaven that is Sonoma County.
Nestled high in the back terraced garden, the hot tub provides a secluded, steamy oasis with exceptional views, including the distant Mayacamas Mountains. It is our favorite place to greet the day in the early morning as the mist rolls through the Green Valley and to enjoy sunsets that seem to last forever. Due to the presence of unobtrusive landscape lighting, it is also an ideal spot to count the stars.
Our home and gardens are smoke-free and chemical-free. The house has an open floor plan and wide doorways. There are only 2 low steps to enter the house from any door and the master bedroom has a large walk-in shower. We have tried to eliminate all barriers to your enjoyment of this magical space.
We had a lovely stay. The house was well apportioned with everything we could possibly need. It is so beautifully situated, it was a delight to come home to every day
Home in the Vineyard was just that home. The views were spectacular from every window. The house was warm and beautifully decorated. We felt like we were miles from the hustle of the world and the limited access to the internet gave us down time that allowed us to be together without the tech world. Our daughters graduation from college and my sister coming in from the east coast added to the special time we had with family. The kitchen provided everything we could possibly need for the family meals we cooked. Plenty of room for all of us to participate. The dining room gave us room to not only share a meal but an evening of laughter, conversation and much needed family time. Coffee on the patio in the morning and wine in the evening with a stunning view was relaxing and most pleasant. The vineyards and the gardens are absolutely beautiful. Ending the day with a stop in the hot tub and a visit from Max and Daisy, who are the most polite and warm dogs, made us feel so at home. Working Fern and Susan was so easy. They are there for anything you might need. We will recommend this home to anyone. It is a place we would/will return to.
This house and property are amazing! The views from basically every window make you just want to stay at the house all day. The gardens are beautiful, the hot tub is perfect, the vineyards are breathtaking.... We wanted to stay longer and will definitely be back soon. Also, we traveled with our two kids and the house had a pack and play, a high chair and lots of room for them to run around.
We stayed in this beautiful house 3 nights for my 60th birthday. The house is very clean and very spacious. We had very good time. Thank you very much Susan.
If you are interested in a wonderful weekend escape, this is the home for you. It is situated perfectly in a vineyard with incredible views from all windows. On the surface, the setting looks like you've been transported to wine country in Burgundy France with vineyards planted everywhere on the rolling hills, but yet you are located minutes from a number of fine restaurants. The area is also loaded with a number of fantastic wineries that may not be as well-known as those in Napa but are equally good. As an added bonus, the house is located only a short drive from Wild Flour Bread Bakery in Freestone that makes some of the best bread in the Bay Area! The best part is that after spending the day visiting wineries, you return to this beautiful home. It offers a lot of space with large windows to enjoy the countryside. It's furnished tastefully with comfortable furniture. The kitchen has everything you need to cook at home if you like and the bedrooms are large and comfortable. The patio leads to a beautifully landscaped backyard with a variety of flowers and other vegetation along the hillside. Susan, the owner, was very responsive even though she was in another country when we exchanged emails. The property manager was also easily accessible in case we had any questions. There is nothing to complain about other than that I wish it was my home!
We've stayed in three different homes in the Sonoma area and this was by far our favorite. Inside, the house is spacious and clean, the bedrooms are very comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you need (we did a lot of cooking). Outside, the space is beautifully designed with a large deck, gardens, hot tub, and reading chairs. As the other guests have mentioned and as you can tell from the photos, the views are truly stunning. Susan and the property manager were both very responsive and easy to communicate with. We can't wait to return!
Our family of four was anxiously our arrival at Home in the Vineyard for our extended Thanksgiving Holiday. I've stayed at some wonderful VRBO properties in Sonoma and Napa and have not been disappointed. Looking for something a little more special and off the beaten path. Being somewhat familiar with the Graton area and reading the reviews/write-up of Home in the Vineyard, it seem to fit our requirements. Our first morning we were up bright and early (being East Coasters) and was granted a beautiful view of a Fall-laden vineyard with fog hanging in the low lying areas--it was breath-taking. The house lived up to our expectations with comfortable furnishing and beautiful views of the vineyard and gardens. The internet services and cell reception was a lot to be desired if you're a technocrat, but it was a bit of a relief to be somewhat removed from the office and those that may be hunting us down!! All in all, we had a wonderful week at Home in the Vineyard and our vacation passed quickly. We would certainly consider staying there again on our next venture to Wine Country.
We loved staying at the home in the vineyard. The views are amazing. We took a nice walk up the road through the red woods, cooked dinners of salmon, chicken and steak. Visited lots on wineries on the Sonoma Food and Wine Affair tour. We loved the gardens and we cut a beautiful arrangements of roses for out dining room table. Thank you Susan. We plan to come again.
A beautiful home in the most stunning setting! The house was welcoming, comfortable, and peaceful. We wish we had more time to spend at the house, enjoying the beautiful grounds, but we had a full schedule planned exploring wine country. We hope we can come back to this lovely place!!! The gardens were lovely, the vineyard views breath taking, and the home warm and inviting!
This house is everything the listing promises and more! The kitchen is fabulous, spacious and so well equipped. Beds were super comfortable and plenty of linen was provided. The baby cot was a bonus for our grandson! The sitting rooms and dining room were also well appointed and had the most amazing views. The outside areas were so spacious and well thought out and we definitely hit the best time of the year for the kitchen garden, tomatoes of all varieties, red chard, yellow chard, different types of squash, strawberries, raspberries, herbs... the lis is endless. I do hope that we will be able to return again soon.
