Beaufort is a charming little historic NC town founded in 1709 which makes it the 3rd oldest in the state. Originally a Port of Entry and fishing village, Beaufort has a rich maritime history. The historic waterfront district along Taylor’s Creek offers visitors the opportunity to dine and shop while enjoying views of feral horses on Carrot Island and boats from all over the world at the Beaufort Docks. Water ferries transport visitors to nearby Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks. There are historic and ghost tours available daily that provide a rich history of the area, and one of Blackbeard’s legendary homes is just around the corner from our vacation home! Tour the North Carolina Maritime Museum, the Beaufort Historic Site, and walk or bike the tree lined streets of the historic neighborhoods. There are fabulous restaurants by the waterfront to enjoy including annual events like the Food and Wine Weekend with winemakers and top chefs from around the world and the music festival. Whatever you decide to do, I am sure that you will find Beaufort as delightfully different as we do – and it's only 3 hours from Raleigh!

The home sleeps 12 and was built only a few years ago so has the amenities of a new home. We include bikes, a canoe, and other extras with the rental.

Fourteen of us got together for Thanksgiving weekend. 12 stayed in the house consisting of boys age 7 and 8; 2 teen/adults, and the rest the parents. 2 live in Morehead with mobility issues so the house worked beautifully for them. VRBO hosts thought of everything, and our dogs (extra fees charged) really enjoyed romping in the back yard. The house is one block from the water and five blocks from downtown Beaufort, NC. The teens rode the furnished bikes and we walked into town so no parking hassles on a busy weekend. This house is not fancy, but utilitarian so we didn't constantly worry about the children making a mess. We mention the pet fee, but if you left your dogs at home, you'd be paying lots more in boarding or sitting fees. The hosts furnished plenty of soaps, paper products, and washing supplies to last our entire stay. They thought of everything down to aprons, and plenty of pots and pans and serving dishes for a big Thanksgiving meal for 14. Two years ago we stayed at Emerald Isle. While beautiful, it was isolated requiring driving to everything, and not a lot of fun for kids who want to explore. The weather cooperated, which always helps, but the house was so comfortable the family could just hang there if necessary. Neighborhood walkable with sidewalks in most places, and one could spend days touring the charming houses and yards. The house offered enough parking for lots of vehicles and no one had to park on the street. Neighbors welcoming.

Our family (all from the west coast) all enjoyed our stay here while we attended a larger family reunion with activities in Beaufort. This property is great and very conveniently located. We were able to walk to most of our events and enjoyed the house in our down time. No problems or insufficiencies! We'd love to come back again.

Our annual Beaufort vacation is always fun, especially since we love our location at Brad's place. Our teen family members thoroughly enjoy walking to town center for breakfast and shopping, love the availability of bikes, and proximity to the basketball courts. It all just goes by so fast! Looking forward to next year already! Hammer 'Clan'
