Our unique Crestone Hideaway Home is available for you to experience the cosmic vibe of Crestone & the San Luis Valley. Our home is designed and outfitted with recycled, upcycled, & reimagined materials - which all contribute to the very off-beat comfort of our home.

We offer full use of our quirky adobe & stucco home. Once you confirm your reservation, you will have sole use of our Hideaway home during your stay.

Built from straw bale and traditional framing we have a comfy living area, 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, fully appointed kitchen, dining room for 4+, & a huge outdoor deck made from football bleachers. We also feature not-quite-plumb walls, church pews, tree trunks, boulders, antique doors - a truly home-grown design.

The off-grid life is special by cutting out the noise of on-grid living. Our ranch is fully powered by solar (& back-up generator). We also have hi-speed wifi. Off-grid does not mean out of touch; our goal is to mitigate human impact on the natural environment. We do not skimp on amenities and comfort. We love sharing the peaceful quiet laid-back lifestyle of the Crestone area.

The master bedroom offers a queen bed, beautiful mountain view, wood-burning stove, spacious sitting area, self-serve coffee and tea service, and opportunity for rejuvenating & relaxing.

The front bedroom has a front row seat & direct access to the deck and the Sangre de Cristo mountains just through the french doors. It has a full bed and a single trundle which is perfect for children and youth. If you have a different need to accommodate your family/group, please reach out to us!

We're in the International Dark Sky community. The stars are magnificent without the light pollution we don't realize is limiting our views in the cities. You will be amazed by the vast expanse of the universe.

Please note that VRBO uses AI to create some of the information about our property. The map they provide indicates that the Sand Dunes are less than a 20 minute drive from all homes in the Crestone area. It is not exactly correct. There is a north entrance into the National Park that is a few minutes from our home but it DOES NOT connect to the main visitor entrance where you be able to hike on the Dunes. Please use Google maps to find driving directions to the Great Sand Dunes National Park Entrance from Crestone.

The Great Sand Dunes National Park - the tallest and most amazing sand dunes in North America - are visible from almost everywhere on our property. Look to the south to see this alternate view of the north side of the Dunes. **Plan to make if a full-day trip to the Dunes!**

Don't forget about the Ziggurat (it's visible from our deck too).

We are also close to several natural hot springs resorts with both family friendly, adults-only (with adult drinks), and clothing optional locations. And the choices for hiking are too numerous to list.

The nearby town of Crestone is quaint and delightful with a history museum, an art cooperative, at least two restaurants, two grocery stores, a liquor store, post office, a bank, a hardware store, a gas station, and no stop lights. Any traffic jams are caused by the herds of deer that wander through town.

Our Hideaway truly offers a taste of a very off-beat heaven on Earth.

Gail’s place is super quiet and has everything you would need for your stay. Our furry friend probably had the most fun. Will definitely be back next time in the area. Communication with Drew and Gail was super easy and a pleasure to work with both. Best!

The kitchen was very clean, had everything (microwave, stove, oven, dishes etc. They have a fenced dog yard (small but there with doggy bags). I ended up not bringing my dog but he would have been fine there. The outside in winter other than the very nice deck, doesn't look that great with the yard etc, but inside was wonderful. I was worried about heat, it was very very warm and we ended up not using the wood stoves (two) because the propane heating in the living/kitchen area worked well (we kept it off most of the time). Crestone is small but cute and the restaurant, Food is Art was wonderful and people very friendly. Was disappointed that to get to Great Sand Dunes was over an hour away.

This home was a wonderful place for us to experience a much-needed getaway! It exceeded our expectations, and was exactly what we needed! It was so fun to see how Gail & Michael lovingly and creatively put this home together by repurposing materials. The house was perfectly clean and tidy, the hosts were great to communicate with, and they have thought of everything! We love to cook, and the kitchen was well stocked and set up to make that an easy and fun experience. Our dog felt right at home here as well, which made it an even better experience. Our first night here, we were already dreaming of when we can come back - hope we can make that happen soon! Thank you!!!

If you are searching for peace and tranquility, I highly recommend this Unique and Marvelous Hideaway. I don't have the words to describe how incredible it was. The house was a delightful, rustic, hodge-podge of a funky little shack and we loved it!!! The views were f*cking amazing! It was like you could touch the stars. We spent hours watching the sunrise and set. Crestone was a delightful little town. I'm pretty sure there were more deer than people. :) The hosts were very easy to work with and the check-in process was a breeze. Thank you, Drew! We will definitely be coming back!

Booked the stay to get out of the city during the holiday. It had everything we needed: peace, quiet, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, hot water, dark skies, and a toothbrush to use since I forgot one.

The property was so peaceful. The kitchen was stocked well to prepare lunch and dinner. The best breeze blew through the house each evening while we relaxed after the days activites.
