Stayed Oct 15, 2024I was there during a very difficult time. The hurricane Helene had devastated the area. After helping and working during the day, it was wonderful to return to a lovely place.

Stayed Jul 5, 2024What a jewel Mary Ida’s Tiny Home is! It’s a perfect little get away spot that is relaxed, comfortable and welcoming. Both the exterior and interior of the home are great. Although it’s called a tiny home, the space is used exceptionally well, allowing all the amenities you need. What a delight it was to be welcomed with fresh baked banana nut bread, fresh eggs, butter, local ground coffee, coffee creamer, selection of teas. We had a wonderful breakfast for two mornings. We enjoyed a dinner at Hillman which is an easy stroll from the house. The location is very convenient to getting on interstate 40 and going up to Black Mountain, Asheville or any nearby spots. We will definitely be back!

Stayed Oct 13, 2025My family and I called it our Home Away from Home. It felt so good after a long day to just come back to our tiny home and relax. We really enjoyed the ability to cook our own food in the kitchen and do laundry when we needed too. It was perfect. We will most likely stay again sometime in the future. Thank you for such great communication ever since before I booked our trip. You were so kind and helpful when seeking things to do in the area. We recommend going to Asheville and Catawba Falls.

Stayed Oct 8, 2025Mary Ida's was the cutest tiny home get away for my husband and me. Margaret and David were the most gracious hosts, there to answer any questions and provide the best recommendations for local restaurants. I would absolutely recommend staying here for anyone who needs some downtime, away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

Stayed Oct 3, 2025The home was very clean & had a fresh, clean smell upon arrival. Very spacious for the 2 of us. We also had a nice snack basket with homemade bread, fresh eggs & water in the fridge. The home was walkable to a homemade cinnamon roll bakery & a grocery store. You could also walk a little farther into town but we chose to drive. Great location to black mountain & Catawba Falls!

Stayed Jan 31, 2025I have nothing to day but good things about the home and the hosts. I knew this was going to be a great stay when they sent me a message saying there was some treats and fresh eggs for me upon arrival, put a smile on my face. I needed it as this trip was going wrong for me, so much that I had to add two extra dates and they welcomely did it with ease. The place was immaculate, I mean not one spot of dirt, hair or stains, felt like home. Food options were limited but there is a grocery in quick walking distance so opted to make meals instead which was nice and saved me a lot of money. Morning coffees on the porch were excellent tool. Finally, communication was top notch, almost instant and their over all demeanor was kind as can be. Book it, you won't be disappointed!

Stayed Jan 17, 2025Such a cozy, clean spot for a relaxing stay! The host was so kind and very easy to communicate with. They left homemade bread, farm fresh eggs, coffee and creamer. I’ve never had such a generous host. If traveling to old fort definitely give this one consideration. I believe they have another property as well and I’m guessing it’s just as perfect!

Stayed Oct 11, 2024Even though we live in a neighboring community the hosts welcomed us to their beautiful and efficient tiny home as we remained without power and water following Helene. Both communities were ravaged but as they had water and power they opened this home to us.

Stayed Aug 30, 2024I was amazed when I first walked in. This little house is so warm and cozy. The host had left homemade peach pecan bread, two small bags of pretzels, six fresh eggs, I have a stick of butter and a small carton of half-and-half. There were plenty of different types of tea that you could choose from and everything you need it for your Coffee. If you’re looking for a cozy little one room home to stay at, this would be the place to stay. It’s not too far from Black Mountain and plenty of other activities are nearby. It definitely was the perfect place for our little getaway.
