Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a great location! The home is beautiful and so close to everything including 5 minutes from the Dolly Sods access trail. The hotwater heater went out but they were super quick to install and brand new water heater. We were very impressed and very please with the service and care we received.

My only suggestions would be to do a thorough cleaning and inspection for broken items(lamps, garage door open/close switch, both fireplaces were in operable), and burned out lightbulbs. The house was clean but there were dead flies throughout. The decor is dated, but the home is very comfortable and has been set up with care and thoughtfulness for guests.

Reviewer Comments: The house was manageable, but it needs some updating, it would be nice to have a king size bed in the downstairs master bedroom instead of a full and twin bed put side by side, the husband couldn’t get either TV to work. This was our second time staying in the house, and it was clean. We took our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter again and she had a really good time fishing in the nearby lake and playing in the big yard and walking to the lake from the house. The house location has awesome views of the mountains, and lake, and a big nice yard with a garage to use, those big windows in the front room made watching all the deer very enjoyable. As always we use Best of Canaan for our rental stays, they are super nice, and we look forward for our visits twice a year.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Best of Canaan is the best rental/realty org in the area -- hands down. Their team is efficient, responsive, and incredibly kind. Unfortunately the Peace in the Valley home was not a great stay. While the view is INCREDIBLE (and makes up for a lot), there were problems:Let's start with the good stuff:- The incredible view and walking access from the yard to lovely trails alongside the conservancy.- Ample parking- Good temperature control via the thermostat with cooling and heating- Good water pressure and consistent hot water- The internet simply didn't work unless you were sitting next to the router with only one person using it. It didn't work in most parts of the house and forget trying to stream anything. It wasn't possible for even one person.- The dish washer didn't work.- Numerous light fixtures and bathroom amenities were either broken but functional or didn't work at all- There were no usable TVs. The TVs were tiny and placed in awkward areas that made group viewing impossible.- All the furniture is incredibly dated -- not a big deal in and of itself - but a little off putting when fabric-covered upholstered chairs and sofas have stains.- Sheets covering the box springs were stained.- Cleaning wasn't thorough - food wrappers under the bed etc.- Random person started mowing the lawn midafternoon while folks were resting. Dodn't' bother to let us know and we had to leave the house because it was so loud.- The appliances were so old that notes had be left on items to figure out how to use them. (The coffee maker was from 1981. I haven't seen a coffee maker like that since I was a kid).- The house had flies and wasps inside -- with wasps nests in several places around the deck and windows which meant that when you tried to open balconies, flies and wasps were trapped between the screens and the glass or just flew straight in.- Few usable pots/pans/plates. Reviewer Comments: Needs a lot of renovations including new appliances except dishwasher. House was not cleaned but paid large cleaning bill up front. Someone was to get back with me on this but haven’t heard from anyone as of yet. Have been hospital so haven’t been able to follow up on this till now. Location is the best thing about this place.

Had a couple skunks come at night. Needs upgrading. Especially kitchen appliances. Stove has only 2 small burners that work. Hard to cook on for 5 people.

Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at Peace in the Valley with our 19 month old granddaughter (she had a great time) playing in the fallen leaves, and walking the trail to the Spruce Island Lake. The WiFi wasn’t the best but we made due with it. The rental house needs a little updating, but all in all we were fine with everything. As always, Best of Canaan is great, and they are our go to rental choice.

My daughter and myself decided to try again and were pleasantly surprised. The stove and oven are ancient but can be used. All other appliances worked well. Had deer and 8 skunks (yes 8) daily and nightly. The view couldn’t have been any better. So relaxing. Thank you for sharing

Reviewer Comments: The location was ideal but we also chose this for bed sizes to suit our group. It was advertised as having two kings and a queen. Instead it had one queen and two full sized beds. Heat was good in the living room but poor in the remainder of the house. Cleaning supplies and bathroom tissue were inadequate. Midway through our stay the master bath shower faucet failed and could not be turned off and could not be fixed for the duration. No doubt some of the issues were addressed after our visit and we received a partial refund for our difficulties. The house is outdated and the furniture unattractive, though adequate. Some dishes and glasses provided were not clean.

Conveniently located about a mile from Timberline resort. House was large enough for everyone to have space (we had 6 in our party). Plenty of dishes and kitchen items. Lots of linens, towels and blankets for bedrooms/bathrooms provided. The property managers were helpful when we couldn’t figure out how to start the gas fire place and work the TV (one had cable, one had Google Chromecast only). Internet was Satellite dish based so during the evening snow the Internet service stopped working because of snow build up on the dish, we swept it off and it worked fine. Once complaint the tap water tasted very metallic so bring bottled water. It was a fun trip and summer would be great as we saw hiking trail walking distance from the house :)
