Wilmington, New York
About this space
The Willard House is a charming farmhouse that features stunning views of Whiteface Mountain across acres of meadows. Just minutes from all the skiing, mountain biking, and hiking you could possibly want, you can spend your nights around the indoor or the outdoor fireplace, or in the screened deck. Fully equipped kitchen, and more than enough room for your family and friends.
The space
The Willard House was built more than a century ago by the founder of a local sawmill, still in operation on Haselton Rd. (If you swing by the mill, they have some history of the builder hanging on the walls.) It is just as cozy as you'd think, with a sunny, eat-in farmhouse style kitchen, and a knotty pine living room that glows in the afternoon light. There are spectacular views of Whiteface throughout the house. We recommend curling up on Snuffleupagus, our red doublewide, heated 1960s recliner, and reading a classic book while watching the sun set over the mountain. In the winter, be sure to add in a fire in the stone fireplace.
There is more than enough room for all your family and friends. Two bedrooms have queen beds, while the third has a kid friendly trundle bed. All of the bedrooms have closets. There is an additional sofa bed in the living room.
One bathroom features an old farm tub which makes for a great soothing bath after a long day of adventure. There is an additional full bath with vanity lights to help fix yourself up for the apres scene after skiing.
There's games, puzzles and books in the living room built-in, as well as Fire TV with assorted streaming services. The kitchen has more than enough cookware and dinnerware for large groups, and there is both a large dining table and an additional table in the kitchen.
Outside, there is a screened deck with a full table available for summer dinners, as well as another stone fireplace which works for both wood fired BBQ and fall cocktail hours.
Should you need anything during your stay, we live a few acres away in the original barn on the property, or the caretaker Devon, lives in the bungalow. We’re always happy to roast you more coffee or point you in the direction of farm fresh cheese or top secret swimming holes!
Guest access
There is parking for several cars in the driveway, and additional parking across the street. The house is centrally located, just minutes to Whiteface, and equidistant to the villages of Lake Placid and Keene.
