Stayed Jul 12, 2024This is a gorgeous cottage siting at the foot of an old water tower, in which the property owner lives with his dog. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay. The accommodation is exactly as described, but what’s sometimes difficult to tell is that everything has been kept up to date, with an excellent kitchen and things that you might need are clean and in good order. We did not see much of our owner/neighbour, except on one day when I had a nice chat (my dog was trying to say hello to his dog). Pillows and the bed were very comfortable, and the appropriate furniture in great shape - the sitting room could comfortably have eight adults, and there are lots of options for dining both inside and at the patio table. Immediately surrounding, there are stunning views over the valley with Seaton sitting at the river’s mouth. There are fabulous walks to Seaton (2km), and on to Beer (2km further) and Branscombe (3km further still). All three of these have great places to find sustenance (and beer :-). Further afield, we explored the very attractive town of Lyme Regis, and also spent a rainy day in Exeter. This was a great location for what we wanted to do - enjoy the Devon coastline with long walks, and leisurely meals of a good quality. The people were also very welcoming, despite the fact that they deal with so much passing trade.
