Stayed Jun 11, 2024My daughter-in-law and I stayed here on our overnight hiking trip. The house was perfectly clean and well-stocked. We both slept well and had a wonderful time. We especially appreciated not having to do anything before checking out… just locked the door behind us! We both said we’d stay here again!

Stayed Mar 22, 2026Sutton House is beautiful, clean, spacious, and well stocked. The owners, Tina and Bob, are kind and generous. Ironton is walkable and filled with Sears bungalows, interesting shops, Checos Mexican restaurant, and Arcadia Coffee Shop. There is a Civil War plaque and history on the Courthouse Square and at Pilot's Knob. The hiking and state parks (Elephant Rock, Taum Sauk, Hawn, the Scour, Johnson Shut-Ins) are scenic and well-marked. We enjoyed the Spring like weather, the flowers and trees blooming, beautiful birds and butterflies. We enjoyed eating at Baylee Jos BBQ, Iron Horse, and Thee Abby Kitchen, all a short drive. A very enjoyable Spring break. Thank you!

Stayed Mar 20, 2026Just a darling house from top to bottom. Tina was great at communicating and left little snacks on the kitchen counter. Nice toiletries provided. Beds very comfortable. It’s an old house and they’ve leaned into that charm, mixing modern with antique. The dining table is a little small and pretty rickety, but it was just 4 of us staying there and for only 1 night. Could imagine it might be challenging with 8 people staying there (enough comfy beds for 8!). That’s the only downside I could think of, and it’s a nitpicky one at that. We walked to a Mexican restaurant for dinner and a cute little coffee shop for breakfast. Great place to stay if visiting all the state parks in the area (we went to St. Joe to kayak, and then elephant rocks, Johnson shut-ins, and Taum Sauk. Sad we only had one night there!

Stayed Dec 30, 2025This was by far the best vacation rental we have ever stayed in. The home is beautiful, the beds are comfy, the bathrooms were clean and the water pressure is good. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. The home is stocked with all the essentials we needed. The grocery store is not far away. If you're looking to stay in this area, look no further. I know we will be back. Huge bonus point for the owners as they do not require cleaning since we paid a cleaning fee. So many charge the cleaning fee and then also expect the guest to clean. We, of course, did not abuse that and made sure we didn't leave a big mess.

Stayed Nov 7, 2025The home is a cute, historical home that is spacious and well kept. It’s walking distance to food, coffee, and in-town historical sights. It was a short drive to Johnson’s Shut Ins and Elephant Rocks - and eating at Baylee Jo’s BBQ is a MUST! The games included in the family room made for some fun family bonding time.It was a great stay with plenty of room in the home for a large family, or a group of friends, for a quick getaway from the city. We have absolutely no complaints! The host was very responsive, and friendly. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

The house was located perfectly for our trip to visit state parks we had not before visited. The communication was fantastic and Tina was so very nice. We most enjoyed the fire pit. It was incredibly relaxing to sit around after a long day of hiking.

Stayed Oct 10, 2025Once we were able to enter the house, the stay was beautiful! Very comfortable and cozy. There were some issues checking in with the code for the door not being set up correctly, which resulted in us being stuck outside the house with our small children for about 45 minutes late at night while we waited for Tina to get back to us! Luckily she was able to fix the mistake on her end and all was well the rest of our stay!

Stayed Aug 11, 2025An adorable property with everything we needed in the kitchen. Including tea and coffee. Everything for the bbq and fire pit were also on site which was nice. A stack of games and Netflix available. Comfy beds. Plenty of space for 8 adults. Quick communication from the owner. Watch your step from the laundry into the kitchen. It took a few of us out. We had a lovely stay and were sad to leave.

The owner had quick communication and there were so many wonderful little extras. The house is extremely well stocked! We did not need to bring anything or do anything. Stayed Apr 10, 2025We were there to take care of some final details after the death of a relative. The house was very comfortable, great location to our relative’s home and very close to great eating options. There had been a water issue at the plant so the town was under a boil order, our host was most accommodating making sure we had plenty of bottled water to make our stay stressless. Thank you for a calm, comfortable place to stay while we dealt with family matters.

Stayed Mar 17, 2025This was a great option if you’re staying in the area. Great communication with the owner, all the appointments you need. Great (very very small) town but again all you need. Be sure to get coffee from Acadia and Mexican at el Checo’s. Only thing I’d note is the upstairs bathroom is bathtub only which is clearly called out in the description but just want to be sure folks saw that. Highly recommended if you’re needing a great place in Ironton.

Stayed Aug 12, 2024An exquisite home, impeccably maintained with just the right mix of modern and vintage. Staying at the property was like taking a step back in time. We marveled at all of the details and amenities, but by far, our favorite was the original doorbell located on the front door.

Stayed Jul 31, 2024The house is much bigger than it looks from the outside. There is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their own sleeping quarters. The neighborhood was quite and safe. Ironton is a nice town with friendly people. Our family was headed on a long road trip on decided to stay in this house instead of a hotel. That was the right decision. Overall, the host was excellent with exceeding our needs and I'd stay here again if we are ever in this region.
