Overall we enjoyed our stay. We actually stayed at another cabin 12 years ago for our honeymoon. We were slightly disappointed by the cleanliness of the cabin. We understand it has vaulted ceilings, but there were VERY large spiderwebs on the ceiling. There were also several stains on the futon upstairs. The hot tub was also disappointing. We did not end up using it because it had a very strong chlorine smell and was murky/dirty looking. It had been a main reason for us choosing one of the Lydia Mountain cabins. We did try and call the main number several times during our stay with no answer. We do love the location and quiet!

We loved the cabin and morning sunrises over the mountains. We did have a hard time finding the cabin though. The turn left sign seemed a bit early and I wasn't confident the I was on the driveway. To be fair; it was unfamiliar territory, pitch black, pouring rain, windy (50 mph wind gusts) and leaves were covering the driveway. Once we got there though, everything was perfect with the cabin. We were a little disappointed the restaurant in the lodge was not open on Tuesday and Wednesday. The breakfast we did have on Monday was delicious and Katie did an unbelievably great job considering she started out alone and the restaurant filled up fast! I would add Maybelle's on Main for breakfast and New York Pizza in Stanardsville for the days Bearrr Apeptit is closed. Sorry I missed the check out email but we were enjoying an electronics free vacation. We did leave early but did try to leave the cabin as clean as we found it. Hopefully your cleaning crew did not need to spend much time there.

Overall, it was a great place for my wife and I to get away for a few days and enjoy the outdoors in the fall. The cabin’s location, setup and accommodations were great. However there was an opportunity with cleanliness - moldy chicken wings left in the oven from a previous guest and the constant smell of sewerage coming from the downstairs bathroom (maybe a draining issue from that point to the septic unit outback).

Overall we had a good time. We loved the overall location of the cabin, but if this had been the winter it would have been good to let us know in advance how much rock driveway with slope would have to be done by the car as we had a 2WD car. The cabin was nicely designed, we were especially happy to have a 2nd floor because the bottom floor was both very musty at all times and seemed to have many places for bugs to get in. We definitely expected there to be bugs since we are in nature. However, it was definitely more than I think I would have expected. I recognize that the centipede situation was not entirely your issue and I'm very grateful that housekeeping came to dispose of them when we asked. But the issue was not solely the centipedes. There were a lot of other bugs getting in and regularly flying around, including in the upstairs. If we had had an additional guest that had to sleep downstairs, I'm not sure we would have been able to stay in the cabin. I also recommend looking into a new mattress or box spring. The bed was also not the most comfiest and makes a lot of noise if anyone moves. Was definitely sore in some places at the end of our 4 days. I definitely enjoyed the weekend and would come back. However, would definitely ask a lot more questions about specific cabins while booking and would try to always get places with a multiple floors to ensure we can escape the bugs. I would be concerned about coming here with multiple people where all floors needed to be occupied.

We have stayed in this system before. But this time, it wasn’t good. The living area was basically unusable bc of the horrible smell that was there. We couldn’t open the sliding doors bc there aren’t any screens there. There were worms everywhere. I woke up to them in my hair. The hot tub was over chlorinated and damaged my skin. Extremely disappointing stay.

We've been visiting Lydia Mountain for over 15 years, and this cabin is easily one of our favorites! It truly has it all—an ideal location, perfect privacy, and a fun, spacious layout that's great for relaxing, watching movies, reading, and spending quality time together. While it wasn’t quite as fully stocked as some of the other cabins we’ve stayed in, it had all the essentials we needed—and that might just be because it’s one of the newer ones. The hot tub, with its incredible view, was a definite highlight. It is also close to antique shops, restaurants and a ton of wineries. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be returning to this cabin again!

Place was better than I thought it was going to be. It is close while being far away. Short hike to the main lodge, beautiful view every morning with the deck facing east. Place was very clean and kept well. The couchs and bed are not the most comfortable things I have spent the night on but the rest makes up for it... The staff while very nice are tough to get information from on where to go and what to see almost like they are hiding the good stuff. All and all great experience and will visit again.

I’ve booked at different cabins with LM for the past decade or so. I always have an excellent experience & typically try a different cabin each year. This one however, will be a forever booking for me. This was my most favorite so far & I will definitely be returning to the Speckled Owl each year. I recommend LM to friends & family every time I post our stay! Thank you to LM for always making our stay one that we never want to end!

Great location, hiking trails nearby, amazing view, quiet area with a private driveway. Pots and pans a bit worn out. Would definitely stay here again.

The entire weekend was absolutely great. A little issue pulling in, but we were helped and greeted immediately. The entire place was spotless, and had the most breathtaking balcony view. My fiance and I are already planning to stay again next year. Thank you so much for providing us a space to really connect with each other.

Oh my goodness, to say this cabin is perfect is an understatement! The road really gets you in the middle of your own private sanctuary. The views, the hot tub, the entertaining space. It was a dream! We will definitely be coming back and requesting to stay at this cabin!

Thank you for sharing in a very nice family reunion. The 60 family members were spread across two counties with each hosting events. Lydia shown brightly against all the others.
