We had a wonderful stay at this VRBO. The property was extremely clean and exactly as described. Everything felt fresh, comfortable, and organized, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the trip. The host was responsive and helpful throughout the stay. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay.

We’ve stayed several times and it is idyllic. Sitting on the porch with morning coffee and on the dock with evening wine; and watching the river stream by was wonderful. Excellent Wi-Fi for streaming movies.

Beautiful place, good times

The Bird House on the river is truly something special. The pictures honestly don’t do it justice—this place is even more beautiful in person. From the moment I arrived, it felt like a hidden treasure. The host went out of his way to personally introduce himself, and we ended up having a great conversation that made the stay feel even more welcoming and personal.The home itself is incredibly peaceful and relaxing, with that rare, authentic “Old Florida” charm that’s almost impossible to find anymore. Waking up to the sound of birds, watching the sunrise over the river, and ending the day with a sunset in the same spot was something I won’t forget. There are plenty of great places to eat nearby, and the springs are just a short drive away, which made it the perfect location to explore and unwind. If you’re looking for a quiet escape that feels both nostalgic and refreshing, this is it. I will absolutely be back—this home is a rare gem.

I could not of asked for anything more! It was exactly what I needed! So pleasant and serial. My dog has the Best time as well! The Host are so kind. Definitely will be coming back!

This is the most amazing, and private little hideaway. Completely fenced off yard for the puppy children to come along. Everything was set up perfectly and thoughtfully. Everything to make it feel like a perfect, comfy home away from home. And for the bird lovers.... there are SO many varieties. To wake up and listen to them from the screened in porch is something i cannot put into words. I highly recommend.

The place was GREAT! Just as described - so peaceful, clean, open, great for the dogs, great location! I told him we were coming for my husband's birthday and he had a birthday banner and cupcakes and flowers there for us! Such a thoughtful thing! And the location is directly on the water! Perfect for our kayak - we can go right up the river, go to another river, or right down the river and stay on it or go to a restaurant (literally maybe a 1 minute kayak ride to eat if you want)! You can hear a little bit of traffic, but the birds never stop singing, and you can people watch the boats going by your personal dock all day if you want to! The dogs loved it, and so did we! Would 100% go back! And the bed is very comfortable, too! Hiking is also very close by! Had everything we could have asked for! Perfect getaway for one or two people, and even better with dogs!!

Booked this place for my parents Anniversary. They love it here! Despite the rainy weather tgey still had a nice getaway. Mom even fished in the rain lol! Thank you Dana for everything!

All was as advertised. It was comfortable and was equipted with everything we needed. The beb was great. The only con was there were no blinds on the latge glaee doors in the back. This bothered my wife a bit.

Very relaxing stay at the Birdhouse!

We had such a wonderful stay at the Bird house. We loved the property and so dig our dog. We enjoyed sitting on the dock, having a fire pit or two and drinking coffee on the porch. There are great restaurants nearby and so hiking at the Rainbow Springs park was a treat! The cabin was stocked with so many extras that were greatly appreciated! We will definitely be back!

Pros: Dana is a great communicator and host, the cottage and property are beautiful, especially the waterfront dock. Our dog loved the expansive and beautiful backyard, and Dana even had fresh flowers waiting for us.Cons: the pillows could be more comfortable and the refrigerator was a bit noisy, but not unbearable. Dana did come over right away to work on it when we let him know.Generally, it was a very pleasant day and we would stay again.

I had a wonderful experience staying at the Withlacoochee River Bird House! The location right on the river and the property was exceptional. The house was unique with its decor and had a lot of charisma and character. Very thoughtful touches to welcome guests. My pup loved it and didn’t want to leave! The host, Dana, was great and very kind. Wish I could have stayed longer!

The cabin was extremely cozy for my husband, myself, and our lab. We loved the yard and the dock that sat right on the river. We saw a couple of alligators in the river our first night, so I would not recommend jumping in! Dana was extremely helpful and even left a dog toy for our lab. We sat on the porch almost every night. It was perfect for our few days away.

We had a wonderful stay with our pups who loved the expansive fenced property to roam in. Communications with our host Dana were outstanding. All of the excellent reviews were spot on and we could not have been happier with our stay.

The house and amenities were attractiveThe bed was not good for me. I have back issues and for some reason the bed set them off. My husband slept fine. My dog loved the fenced in yard and the house and screen room as she could play easily. Loved the screen porch and the areas for sitting in the yard. Just looking at the water was soothing. Walking the dog in the neighborhood presented many rundown homes which was sad to see. It was such a surprise given the Bird House and the attentiveness to that and some of the other properties. Hopefully the city will address some of the immediate area blight. Overall, we felt safe at the house and property and would recommend friend and family to stay.

This is a Florida charmer! The land was beautiful and the house was very clean and had the Florida River vibe. My wife and I loved every minute there!

The Birdhouse is a lovely little cottage on the river. There are many options nearby for food or you can stay in and all you need to make your own is provided. It was a great little get away. We had a great little stay.

Amazing little place on the river. Our pup had a blast in the yard and we loved the patio. We visited Rainbow Spring and kayaked the Rainbow River. Everything we needed was close by.

This was our 8th stay! It's such a relaxing and peaceful place. we fished off the dock and caught alot of little brim. Which we returned back to the river. Watched a baby gator eyeing us. It's truly a natural paradise! Enjoyed our coffee on the porch,while watching the cardinals,woodpecker,and hummingbird. Thankful for a few days there, but didn't want to leave there!Hope if God wills it we will be back!

The Birdhouse is a very special place for a couple and a furry friend. A peaceful setting which is close enough to all the activities, restaurants and shopping. Who knew rocking on the lovely screened porch while watching the beautiful cardinals feed would be the highlight of every day?!

This home brings me so much happiness and joy, I’ve had the pleasure of staying here many years ago with family, when I saw this was a rental on VRBO I was thrilled, the home/ property is absolutely beautiful. There are not enough words or space allowed to describe this wonderful destination. The Birdhouse and its owner, Dana, is one of the best VRBO experiences we have ever had. The house is so clean, comfortable and has everything you need. From the tasty goodies in our welcome basket to the expansive screened porch to watch the river flow by. Kayaks, a charcoal grill, hammock, firepit and chairs on the dock to sit and have your morning coffee. What a great place to unwind, unplug, relax and take in the beauty of nature. The proximity to everything you may need or wish to visit is perfect. We highly recommend for any time of year and will return again soon.

Peaceful stay on the river. This is our 3rd time at the Birdhouse and it never disappoints. Dana is an excellent host and the house and property are designed for comfort and relaxation.

The birdhouse is truly magical! Dana is a wonderful host. Very communicative And accommodating. The location of the house is perfect. Everything you need is within a short drive if you decide to even get into a car. By boat is better or paddleboard! Our pups loved the enclosed fenced in yard. The yard is huge! They had a nice room to run around, play, and explore! One of our favorite things about the home Besides, it’s wonderful natural beauty was that you never felt that your dog was not welcome. The home is perfectly designed for pups in mind making sure you feel relax while your pups enjoy the outdoor space and the indoor space as well. We will definitely 100% be back! This is the go to place for a getaway with your dogs!

Very clean and cozy. Dana was very helpful.

I recently stayed at this property and found it to be very clean with a beautiful screened porch that overlooked the river. This made for a very scenic view. The amenities made the stay pleasurable. It’s located not far from Dunellen making that town very accessible as well as several pints of interest. The only item that prevents me from giving this four stars was the internet service. It went down multiple times every night as well as during the day and was just unreliable. This is no fault of the property owner. They are forced to use AT & T which, from my experience, is just a totally terrible service. While some effort could be made to upgrade, if possible, this situation became just a nightly issue. I wouldn’t let this stop anyone from staying here - just be prepared if you need a reliable internet connection. Other than that, this was a very nice place and would recommend it to couples or single people.

Fishing from the dock was great. Loved that the yard was fully fenced. Watching the river from the screened in porch was so relaxing. Looking forward to a return visit.

We had a wonderful stay at The Birdhouse. Check in was a breeze. Host was very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch overlooking the river. Property was very clean and had everything we needed. Location was perfect for our needs. We hiked the numerous trails in the area. Food and shopping was within walking distance of the property. We have stayed in Dunnellon many times and this property is on our Top 5 list! Thanks, Dana for an absolutely wonderful time! We will be back.

This is one of our favorite places to stay. So peaceful and beautiful, close to all the places and things we love about the area.

Driving into the property feels like entering a hidden garden! We felt welcomed and it was fun discovering all the little touches and details of this little house and beautiful property! Couldn’t ask for more and we hope to come back when we can use the kayaks and the KPHole passes!
