The House on the River

The host was fantastic - super responsive, friendly, and helpful. The property was perfect. Fantastic location, lots of space, and exactly what we were hoping for! Will absolutely book again next time we’re in the area!!

It was such an amazing home! Had everything we needed comfortably slept everyone the yard is large and beautiful and gave plenty of space for the kids to play. The pavilion was excellent it provided shade, while the adults bar b que and prepared the food. Eagerly waiting for another trip here

This is an absolutely beautiful 2.5 acre property right on the river between Sewell Park and City Park. The house has a unique Spanish style vibe with room to sleep 12 in beds and loaded with just about everything you need. We brought a pump and got 15 tubes at HEB (which is 4 minutes away). The property has kayaks and an area to load and unload then making it super easy. The ladder and floating dock were also very convenient. The train goes by several times a day/night but I found it to be charming. My family of five had a great time and we’ll definitely be back!

I've stayed here twice this place is AMAZING. It truly has Waterfront access, massive backyard, lots of hangout areas gazebos covered areas barbecue grills nicely manicured yard. Again direct River access. Maybe a mile from downtown? Maybe. HEB right across the neighborhood Street. Great place for a get together with several people, even families. It's rustic. It's interesting. Just all around. Great place to stay. I plan on coming back every year for the foreseeable future.

Beautiful property!

The authenticity of this charming home with the contents of decades of life there is something that cannot be staged or reproduced. The nostalgic feel is priceless. Our group of all ages loved it and didn't want to leave. The Green Family.

What an amazing property! I wish we could have extended our stay! We could not have asked for more, the house was amazing and the grounds and river access were icing on the cake. Our host Jennifer was so helpful and available for any questions.If you want to stay in a home that has a rich history and more character than a cookie cutter hotel, this is the place for you! We hope to return the next time we are in San Marcos!

This property is an example of the spirit and soul of San Marcos. In mid town, close to everything, 2 acres of pecan tress and cypress, deer and of course frontage to the River between Sewell Park and Rio Vista. If you want the real deal in San Marcos this is it!! Property Manager and Owner is just fantastic!!

Communication with home owner was easy and pleasant. She was pleasant and kind and she wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. We all loved this house. It was comfortable and well stocked with all that's need for a fun reunion of 11 , 1976 high School girlfriends. There was plenty of room for all of us. I can't wait until we return for our 2025 Weekend on the Riviera

This place is AMAZING! The location is so close to downtown, but feels like a little piece of paradise on the river! All the feels of home. We will definitely be back on all our visits to San Marcos, Tx! We are so thankful we found it and it was available! Couldn’t have been more happy with it!

Just perfect for family / friends quiet get together. LOTS of space inside and by the San Marcos River.

Location was wonderful. River access was convenient. Back yard was amazing! We saw little deer every day, along with squirrels, and lots of birds. House was quirky and cool as heck, however….. Very old house, with central AC and window units. It was warm while we were there, so they all had to run the entire time. The master bedroom unit had a strange clicking sound that was very annoying while trying to sleep. The house DESPERATELY needs a deep cleaning. Everything had layers of dust on it. The window units were full of dust. Every window was dirty. Back patio was cluttered, with many places that had standing water for mosquitos. Coy pond was just sad. The house is very old, and I get that. It just needs a lot of work and cleaning to make it the perfect little spot. We met the owner and she was very nice. I hope they take this review with the spirit it was written, not to be mean, but as constructive criticism. We are fairly regular vacation renters, and this was not worth what we paid. All this being said, we would love to stay here again IF we knew it was cleaned and repaired.
