The Bungalow - Charming 3-bedroom house close to everything in Florence

The beds were very comfortable and the location convenient. The decor was nice.

On the very first evening Friday May 29, 2026 I contacted the host to advise him that there were roaches found in the second bathroom. I sent him photos and explained that I used Lysol to kill them. The host stated there hadn't been any pest there in the past year. At 2:15 am I awoke to use the restroom and saw a large roach crawling on the floor into the bedroom from the dining room (sent him another photo, before I sprayed it with Lysol to kill it) I emailed the host received no response. I then contacted VRBO, who also attempted to contact the host. I also sent them photos. I couldn't sleep at all! 6 hrs later I still wasn't contacted by the host so I called VRBO again to escalate the situation. At approximately 9:00 am Saturday morning I emailed the host to say I would not be staying another night, advised him the key would be left where I found it unless otherwise instructed, and advised him that I expected a full refund as I had to acquire lodging elsewhere. The host actually accused me of trying to scam him. I drove over 11 hrs to this property, had paid well in advance. I was truly insulted. I had to pay for 2 additional hotel rooms as we had a party of 5. This was my first VRBO experience, and I am totally disappointed. I paid for a 2 night stay. Spent the first night, watching for roaches, and vacated the property as soon as we could. I need a full refund. Vrbo escalation process did nothing to rectify this matter either.

This property is very clean and cozy. The beds slept so comfortably we stayed in a few days instead of touring the town. The host has excellent communication. I highly recommend this property!

Everything you need for a comfortable stay

Place was great! Super comfortable and had a cozy, homey feel. We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the cold A/C. It’s conveniently located to everything in Florence, and having a Dollar General right around the corner was a nice bonus. We’ll definitely be staying here again, especially with a future UNA student!

Very disappointed. At the Bungalow we experienced bright headlights, loud traffic, lost sleep, and lost money. These issues were mainly related to the location. The house sits very close to the road. All night long there were headlights hitting the windows directly as vehicles rounded that curve. Along with the headlights there was the noise of the traffic, including the sounds of trucks and motorcycles. The online listing did not include this information. Taking for granted that we could sleep there, and relying on various positive reviews, we paid for our four-night rental upfront as required. After that first (only) night without sleep, we told the owner that we would have to leave after completing the cleanup instructions. We asked the owner for a partial refund, but he denied that request. At our additional cost, we went to a hotel for the rest of our stay. We lost several hundred dollars as a result. To the owner’s credit, he did respond to our initial messages, and he also offered to add more curtains to block the light. He said he could not take responsibility for the traffic noise, which again was due to the poor location, right on the street.

House was clean and well furnished. It is very well located for someone fishing Pickwick Lake and tons of amenities close by. Thank you for a great stay!

We had a wonderful stay in Florence, Alabama. The home was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up, making it easy to relax and feel at home right away.The location was peaceful yet convenient, and the host was responsive and easy to communicate with throughout our stay.Overall, a great experience—we would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

We loved our stay. We sleep very well. We prepared our food during our stay. There is plenty of room in the kitchen and dining room. Everything was very clean. It is a bungalow. So, bathrooms are unique and small, but doable.

The host is very responsive, and the house is comfortable.

Easy check in and out, home was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay! The bungalow is adorable and very well-appointed, with several nearby convenience stores and restaurants, and the heart of downtown Florence is only about 10 minutes away. We stayed here for the Muscle Shoals Songwriters Festival and would absolutely book again!

Jay was a great host, very responsive and helpful. His bungalow was a perfect home base for our Florence/Muscle Shoals visit.

Kitchen was nice. Grill was a plus. Had a great time seeing grandbabies and family.

Jay was very communicative and provided great recommendations for local restaurants.

House is clean and comfortable. Beds are awesome and one of the best things is that there are three different mattresses so you can find a bed that fits you best. Staying in a house is infinitely better than a hotel and this one was a good house at a great price.

Cute cottage, was clean and a very good value!

Cozy cottage. Well stocked and very clean. Nice yard and the host was great. Conveniently located, only downfall was how busy the road was. The cottage is far enough off the road, that we weren't worried about the kids being in the front yard, but just a lot of fast drivers at all hours. The road would not detour us from staying again; just mentioning for those with small children. Really pleasant stay!!!

It was fine. It would have been perfect if all the lamps worked or had bulbs in them and if at night it was not such a busy road with cars and trucks shining their bright lights into bedroom until nearly 3 am. The mini blinds didn’t stop the lights. Curtains would have blocked the lights. Something for owner to maybe consider in future. Not sure why many of the lamps did not have bulbs or did not work even with a bulb. House itself was good and clean. Bathroom and kitchen were great.

Like being at home i thought,needed nothing but food,and what you need is local.Let’s take care of this so it remains available please!

We were pleased with our stay. My only suggestion would be to put the full size bed in the middle bed room. Our adult son was on the trip and he was the one that got to be in the actual master bedroom because that was the smallest bed.
