The Bothy @ Fernwood.eco with private sauna

Fantastic stay in the Bothy at Fernwood. This is a hidden gem location and very well designed by Anne & Simon. The private sauna and plunge pool really topped it off. The accommodation has everything you need for a few days stay and it's only a 2min drive to Clifden but you could easily not leave Fernwood at all! We will definitely be back.

Made to feel very welcome, without any intrusion. The woodland, lake inlet , farm and river offer really healthy walks and wildlife. The accommodation is very good and to a very high standard.

Beautiful location with great hiking and views. Feels remote and private all while being about a 2km walk into town. Highly recommend a walk into town early in the morning to see the landscape when lit up from the morning sun. Accommodation was a cottage with kitchenette and wood stove. Great breeze through house if wanted with a stable door. Sauna and cold plunge available and the sauna has an incredible window looking out over landscape and lake. Our stay was extremely relaxing

Very peaceful area with great walks nearby

We adored our stay in the Bothy. We booked this weekend with the intention of completely switching off and that exactly what the Bothy allowed us to do. The grounds, the sauna, even the drive too Fernwood are all stunning, and the wide open windows of the Bothy allow you to soak it all up from the comfort of your bed too. Secluded in the middle of nowhere yet we still got to enjoy Clifden thanks to their list of taxi contacts. They've thought of everything an absolute gem of a place.

Beautiful and luxurious stay

Clean, cheerful, relaxing, and interesting. The hosts and the staff we met are great people. We would highly recommend and return ourselves.

Studio house, sauna experience, rope bridge ☺️ We had a wonderful time at Fernwood - whether the weather is bad or good, it doesn't matter. The studio house is beautiful and perfect for chilling and relaxing. The sauna experience was amazing!!!, especially with the stunning lake view. I highly recommend this place to everyone, especially couples looking for a romantic getaway. We couldn't taste eggs, but maybe next time...

Being isolated in nature felt spectacular. Sitting by the fireplace while storm outside, listening the crackling in the fire with the raindrops on the windows were pure peace.

The accommodation was really well designed and comfortable. My favourite aspect though was the landscape setting and the rewilding efforts on the land.

I absolutely loved little things about this stay, like how the fire was set, how everything was so clean, THAT sauna, wow. I also loved the style and that the kitchen has everything you need if you do need or want to cook, which is probably the best option when you're staying here.

Everything was perfect. We stayed at the Bothy cottage which was just perfect for the two of us. So snug and cosy and lovely. The setting was so peaceful and quiet and the sound of nature all around us was incredibly relaxing and good for the soul.

The location is stunning and so close to Clifden for evenings out. We loved the sauna and plunge pool and the whole experience was so well designed and thought out. We loved our stay in the Bothy.

We loved the design of the space, the kitchen and bath were perfectly thought out, the bed was unbelievably comfortable and the landscape and sheep surrounding the cottage was sublime. We loved that we had eggs and coffee waiting for brekkie, it was the best cup of coffee we had in Ireland! Really loved this place! The walk around the property through the woods and down to the water was lovely. Wish we had a week instead of 2 nights. We would have used the sauna and plunge pool for sure!

Comfort, privacy, attention to sustainability.

This working farm combines a unique blend of an insulated restful retreat inside a forest and a farm. Walk through the trees and millions of ferns to isolated spots to views of mountains, river and a lagoon.No need to leave it until the time for food arrives and within a five minute drive you can make a choice from the many restaurants in the town of Clifden.Ann and Simon are on hand should you need advice or suggestions of things to do but if all you need is a restful place you have found it

See above. One minor point, it would be helpful to include information on recycling (what should the three bins be used for?) in the joining instructions.

The location the peace and ambiance

The Bothy at Fernwood was the perfect base for our exploration of the beautiful Connemara area of Ireland. We had everything we needed. The 1-mile walk to Clifden for dinner each day was lovely. The sauna, cold plunge, and the beautiful swan in the Estuary made the visit so memorable.

Being surrounded by stunning nature

the place is lovely with a nice walking in the woods and cow all around, the sauna is wonderful. i recommend this place

Myself and my Fiancé stayed in the studio for 2 nights. It was gorgeous! So romantic and cosy! We had an absolutely incredible time! Fernwood was so peaceful! We wish we had booked a longer stay. We’ll definitely be going back again! :) highly recommend!

Beautiful accommodation, private and warm

My wife and I had a really nice stay in the Bothy over two frosty days in early January. Really enjoyed staying in the beautifully designed old farm building, exploring the grounds and using the epic private sauna and plunge pool each day. The perfect way to switch off in beautiful surrounds.

Beautiful tranquil place. We had a wonderful stay and loved the coziness of the wood burning fire. Would definitely recommend.

Everything was perfect from start to finish, we really enjoyed our stay at Fernwood and did not want to leave. The accommodation and sauna were gorgeous, so peaceful. Anne was so lovely, and very accommodating. We’ll hopefully be back for another escape in the new year.

The beautifully designed interiors, the veg patch and hens eggs (a dream come true), the forest walks - everything was perfect. By far the best stay of our trip and we will definitely be back.

We loved our stay at Fernwood, from the moment you arrive the place is just stunning - we didn’t want to leave. The outdoor sauna was great and the plunge pool was out of the world. The accommodation itself was set up beautifully and immaculately clean. Everything you would want for a few days of peace and quiet. Simon was a great host and went over and beyond for us during our stay. Highly recommend!
