The Big House, Historic 4-Bedroom Home With Custom Art And Dedicated Workspace

This property is absolutely beautiful and was perfect for our little family get toghther. The kids loved their room on the 3rd floor, and all the things to do up there. (The staircase to the 3rd floor is a little steep, but my 6yr and 9yr old managed just fine. I think it was really only hard for the adults to get up there.) I specifically liked that everything my family wanted to do while in Jefferson City was less than 10 minutes from this property. The location is excellent. The beautiful weather and lovely front porch setup made our days peaceful and delightful.

Our family enjoyed our time there. It was the perfect size for us. The home is so well done. The design was well thought out and we loved all of the thought that went into the decor. The host was great at communicating and we will absolutely go back next time we are in town.

The house was conveniently located near the train station and the Capital! It was very clean and had lots of fun games!

Great place. Wonderful rooms. Back porch great for the bikes for visiting cyclists (although lock on back door would be welcomed, as would a hose to rinse off the bikes after a muddy day on the trail). The bath w drain stopper were much appreciated to soak aching legs. I would recommend

Family event with 8 guests. Communication was great before and during the stay. All questions were addressed quickly. Clean and comfortable beds. Definitely would stay here again.

This is a wonderful home in a great location. We took the Amtrak train in town and walked to the house. It's clean and very well kept. The artwork is amazing. Be sure to schedule shower times if you have a full house since there is only 1 shower. That being said, everyone had hot water and no one complained of running out. Cell block 2 can only be accessed from the cell block 1 or the warden's quarters. There is no mirror in the warden's quarters but there are in the other bedrooms. All of the beds were comfortable. The top floor with juvenile hall has very steep steps and a portable air conditioning unit but it did stay very cool. The hosts were very communicative and there is a laundromat across the street if you need to do laundry. We walked everywhere. Arri's pizza, the state capital, the governor's mansion, the historical society, the state penitentiary, Prison Brews restaurant and more. It was a great stay and we would stay here again.

This was the perfect place for our family to be together to celebrate the life of our sister. Having coffee, cream and sugar was a wonderful touch for morning coffee and conversation. Great location in proximity to the church. I would definitely stay here again. Very clean.

We stayed one night in the big house, it was very clean and enjoyable with all the artwork and reading material. Location was great for out tour of the mo state prison.

We stayed for a long weekend to attend a family event. It was myself, husband, 4 kids, and my parents. The house was roomy enough for accommodate us all with no issues. The kods enjpyed having somewhere to play and the gameroom was perfect. It was centrally located and easy to park and navigate the city. Great place!

My family from around the state met here for our family Christmas. The home was perfect. The Christmas tree and decorations made for great family picture opportunities. From before our stay until we sadly had to leave because our stay was over, communication with the owners was very good. The owners have thought of everything and we appreciate the holiday time we had at The Big House.

We were visiting our Mizzou student and all wanted to go. This house was a perfect size for our large family to stay and gather! Just 30 minutes from Columbia and the campus, Jefferson City is a great stay on its own too. The theme of Big House is beautifully woven throughout the house and apropos with the historic penitentiary just a couple blocks away!

Some buddies stayed here while riding Katy. Clean place very close to restaurants and bars.

We stopped here for an over night stay as we rode on Katy trail from Clinton to Saint Louis. This places was absolutely amazing. Very clean, well decorated, and hosts were above and beyond accommodating, allowing us to leave our gear and pick it up later as we continued to ride. We are definitely staying here next time we are in town for business or during our annual Katy trail ride.

The house was exactly what we needed for our stay in Jeff City. Plenty of room for two families with kiddos. And we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, including the penitentiary, downtown, the brewery up the street, and even to the Central Dairy ice cream parlor. Hosts made things very easy. We will 100% be staying here again when we come back to visit Jeff City.

Our stay at The Big House was super comfortable and cozy. We loved the details of the artwork and decor that tie in with the theme of the home. The amentities were above expectations and the hosts were amazing!
