This place was way overpriced. To start off the pictures to an extent match what I saw.But those pictures must’ve been from a while ago the best way I could put it is things seemed nice but the longer you stay the more you find first thing the water pressure in the shower was absolutely horrible. There was a smell of mildew in the hall bathroom which was the only shower. The furniture was uncomfortable and very worn out that goes for the couches and especially the bed in the master bedroom was extremely uncomfortable and every morning I woke up with back aches. The other major part that I really disliked is the fact that there was no heat/heater. They had a wood stove and a a oil space heater and even though it didn’t get frigid cold in there, my daughter was uncomfortable each evening and morning, specially since we could not just fire up a heater to warm things up.The the wood stove, the seal that goes around the door was falling apart, and so you could not get a good seal on the woodstove for the wood to stay burning and to create that heat woodstove creates. The backyard was a decent size that was fenced in, but there was weeds all over the place and wasn’t very nicely kept just on the other side of the fence. There was a big pile of what looked to be trash, unused lumber, and just was very unpleasant to look. For the amount of money, they are charging a night. It is not worth it.On top of that, everything is 15 to 20 minutes away.

We were so happy to have the experience of staying in this home! The setting, the comfort, the home’s architectural uniqueness and the site appropriate furnishings were so much more than we had expected. Even the out of the ordinary 3:30 am dog walk was extraordinary. The stars were fabulous… and that word doesn’t begin to describe the sight of that sky!Honestly, we hated to leave.

We celebrated Christmas at the Straw Bale House and had a great time. Beds were very comfortable (and we are pretty picky about that) and really neat to experience how well the sun heats the house all on its own during the winter months!Owner Holli was VERY responsive to any questions and even provided a nice welcome basket for us! Convenient to Taos and we spent many days hiking, and enjoying the restaurants in town. The neighborhood gave my 20 children the ability to continue their marathon training around the community. Easy drive Santa Fe to Ski Santa Fe and be apart of the Margarita Trail and tour the historical locations.

We loved this wonderful quirky home; it reminded us of our own house! The monsoons came every afternoon, giving us an excuse to nap and everything we wanted was close at hand. Thank you to the generous hosts for making this possible.
