Sun Realty oceanside classic in the heart of Duck, NC

There’s something magical about Duck. The salty breeze carries the scent of the ocean in one direction and the still, sweet smell of the sound in the other. The streets are lined with quaint shops, friendly faces, and the promise of something delicious just around the corner. It’s the kind of place where time slows down—where you can park the car for the week and walk or bike to everything you need.

Nestled just a short stroll from the Duck Town Boardwalk and the sandy beaches, Smooth Sailing is more than just a vacation rental—it’s the backdrop for your family’s best memories.

The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed into a bright, open living space designed for togetherness. The main level flows effortlessly from the kitchen to the dining area and into the living room, where a brand-new sectional invites everyone to sink in after a day in the sun. The kitchen, gleaming with all-new stainless steel appliances, is perfect for preparing everything from pancake breakfasts to seafood dinners fresh from the day’s catch. Just off the kitchen, the screened-in porch offers the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee in the shade, listening to the distant waves and the calls of seagulls overhead.

Smooth Sailing’s expanded lower-level changes the way you vacation. Imagine this: you’ve spent the morning splashing in the private pool, maybe taken a dip in the hot tub, and the afternoon sun is getting a little too warm. Instead of climbing to the top level, you step right inside to the ground-floor living area, cool and comfortable thanks to a mini-split air conditioner. Here you’ll find a wet bar with a full-size fridge, so cold drinks are always within reach, a cozy seating area for watching the game, and an arcade machine ready for some friendly competition. This is also where Smooth Sailing shows off one of its most unique luxuries—an outdoor smart TV positioned so you can watch a family movie or big game right from the pool or hot tub. As the sky glows orange with the setting sun, you can grill the catch of the day on the gas grill, serve it poolside, and then slip back into the warm water to end the evening under the stars.

The home offers four bedrooms and a loft, comfortably sleeping up to 15 guests. The king suite on the lower level adds an extra layer of privacy, perfect for anyone who likes a quiet retreat.

Mornings here are for strolling into town for donuts or grabbing a latte at the local coffee shop. Afternoons might be spent walking the Duck Boardwalk, popping into art galleries, wine bars, and unique boutiques, or catching a live music performance at the Duck Town Park. On breezy days, rent bikes and ride the length of town, stopping for ice cream or just to watch the sun slip into the sound.

Back at Smooth Sailing, the outdoor living spaces call you to slow down. The upper decks catch the ocean breeze, and from the loft you can take in views of both the ocean and the sound. Whether it’s an early morning watching the sunrise over the Atlantic or an evening glass of wine as the sky turns pink, there’s always a view to savor.

Even on rainy days, there’s no shortage of things to do. Gather in the main living room for a board game marathon, compete in an arcade tournament downstairs, or settle in for a movie night with popcorn and blankets. With in-home laundry, you can keep beach towels fresh and bathing suits ready for the next sunny day.

And the best part Smooth Sailing is dog-friendly, so your pup can join in the fun—long walks on the beach, tail wags on the porch, and naps in the sun included.
