Stayed Oct 19, 2025The view is amazing and the best in Alcobaca including the castle ruins and church. Large living and sleeping spaces, multiple indoor and outdoor eating area, plenty of dishes, room to hang clothes to dry. Outdoor charcoal grill. Room to park car. It is on top of a steep hill, but perfect for those with a car or used to walking around. For accessibility, 3 steps / stairs to enter house. Partially open staircase to upstairs level. 12:30 daily an airhorn goes off for lunch so dont be alarmed.

He helped when car broke down drove my husband to cycling shop and he made us feel so supported. Recommended awesome restaurant!! Thank you Carlos! ?

Stayed May 29, 2024This house was the perfect place from which to launch our daily activities, but it was so comfortable we were loath to leave every day. The terrace overlooking the town was a delightful place for a family dinner. Carlos took good care of us and responded quickly to our requests. If the world was not so big we would return again and again.

Stayed Oct 12, 2017We had a warm welcome by Carlos, the owner, on our arrival. House was spacious on two floors. Four large rooms, two with a balcony with a nice view of the area. However, there were no clothes washing machine available (even if the descriptive on VRBO said it did). There was no toaster for breakfast. Coffee machine was defective as well as the dishwasher. Cleanliness of kitchen was so-so. The site was a bit farther than expected to Nazaré, the ocean.

Stayed Jun 26, 2017This home is located on a quiet street with easily accessible parking. The distance to the center of town is 5-10 minutes walking where there is access to many restaurants, cafes, and shopping. Carlos and his father were outstanding in terms of responsiveness and communication. The home itself is very large and features a nice floor plan. The home made for an extremely relaxing stay, but really it was the attentiveness of the hosts that made our vacation memorable.

Stayed Oct 30, 2016Very nice and comfortable. Very clean. Kitchen well stocked. Owner's father was very helpful and gave a great recommendation for dinner (best meal we had while in Portugal). Highly recommend staying here. Only caution is the house is located on a steep hill and there are steps up to the house and to the second floor bedrooms. Wouldn't be good for someone who has a walking disability. Other than that, it was perfect!

Stayed Sep 28, 2016The property owner/manager Carlos Sousa could not have been more courteous and helpful. The home was a delight from the well manicured lawn and flower gardens to the spacious rooms and impressive open wooden staircase. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes, pots/pans and all needed appliances (especially the drip coffee pot!!). There is an eat-in kitchen dining area and a balcony dining table/chairs, as well as lounge furniture. The balcony also has a spectacular view of an old castle and the monastery below which only becomes better with a lighted view in the evening. The swimming pool was an added treat, it was nice to jump in and cool off from the days heat. The home has a fireplace with split wood provided which we did not use but would excellent for cooler weather. The property is well maintained and very clean. would be a great place to stay for a small family or 4 adults. There are multiple restaurants nearby and Carlos can supply brochures with menus/information - some within walking distance 1 mile. Should we be blessed to return to Alcobaca this would be our VRBO!
