Camellia Cottage – Where History Meets Serenity.

Nestled in the heart of Hilton Village, this modern-vintage gem is your gateway to coastal charm and timeless elegance. Wake up to the whispers of history, stroll through quaint streets and shops, and unwind by the firepit under Virginia’s beautiful skies.

Perfect for families, professionals, and anyone craving a retreat that feels like home – only better. Just minutes from beaches, universities, and iconic landmarks.

Step inside. Breathe. Discover your new favorite getaway.

Conveniently located in Newport News, VA between Colonial Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, the Hilton Village neighborhood was built between 1918 and 1921 in response to the need for housing during World War I for employees of Newport News Shipbuilding. It is recognized as the United States' first Federal war-housing project.

The Camellia Cottage was built in 1919 and is 1500 square feet. Naturally, it will have a few quirks due to generations of family enjoyment. It is a beautiful property, and we hope that you embrace its character and charm during your visit.

In addition to short-term visits, we welcome mid- term stays! For traveling nurses, doctors, professionals, and your families, the cottage is minutes away from Riverside Regional Medical Center, Sentara Hospital, and Mary Immaculate Hospital. The cottage is also close to Ft. Eustis Army Base, Langley Airforce Base, and the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. We are also in a very quiet neighborhood with a dedicated workspace. Special pricing is available for 7+ or 28 day stays.

The house has a large primary bedroom upstairs equipped with a queen and twin bed. The second bedroom upstairs has a queen bed. The full bathroom with a tub is also upstairs.

The eat-in kitchen is equipped with coffee/ tea supplies, spices, and everything you will need for a home-cooked meal. Additionally, there is a large dining room that is able to seat six guests for an elegant dinner together.

Also, downstairs is a lovely living room and sunroom. You can enjoy watching children playing and neighbors walking their dogs. There is a fireplace, so you can relax at night with heating and color-producing faux fire logs.

The third bedroom, which doubles as a family room, is downstairs and has a very comfortable sleeper sofa. This room includes a designated workspace and also exits to the outdoor patio for relaxing around the firepit, grilling, or enjoying what nature has to offer. We are still working on landscaping the backyard, so we request you look beyond any areas that have been seeded but have not yet begun growing grass.

The home, quaint neighborhood, and all that Hampton Roads has to offer will certainly have you coming back for more!

P.S. We welcome guests from all cultures and alternative lifestyles.

We were very fortunate to rent Ginas place this Christmas week! Not only was it a well appointed and comfortable home, it was wonderfully decorated for the Christmas holiday. One of the best VRBO homes we stayed at! Great location to the Hilton Village shops, and great neighborhood to spend our holiday events we had planned. We will certainly be staying there for future visits!

We had a wonderful stay while in Newport News for my daughter's graduation from CNU. The home is less than 10 minutes from campus and is located in such a quaint neighborhood right near the water! It was perfect - spacious, beautifully decorated/furnished, so clean, and had the best coffee/tea/cocoa and snack selection I've seen in a VRBO in a long time! The beds were comfortable and had lovely linens. Communications with owner Gina were easy and clear. I would 100% book again.

100-plus-year-old houses often have character but just as often lack some things that we've come to expect today. This property is not one of those. Character - yes! But also roominess and the amenities that we want today - a nice kitchen and a wonderful bathroom. We've stayed at other properties in Hilton Village and they lacked those things. This was THE CLEANEST rental property we have EVER stayed in!!! Kudos to the owners who were wonderful to deal with, even when we were (sadly) a little trying. We'll be back!

Was in town to watch our son at a swim meet. Great location and accommodations were perfect for our stay. Even got to enjoy 8 inches of snow. Hope to be back again next year.

This cottage is wonderful! I told my husband I could live here! It's decorated so pretty and it's in the perfect location. A very short walk to the village, or in the opposite direction to a fishing pier, playground and beach. I would definitely stay here again!
