Springtide Cottage - Steps from Penobscot Bay!

Welcome to Springtide Cottage, a light-filled, one-bedroom retreat perched above Penobscot Bay, with views across the water toward downtown Belfast. Tucked among the trees, the space feels like a grown-up treehouse: cozy, peaceful, and deeply connected to the rhythms of the coast.

Perfect for a couple or a solo traveler, Springtide is a place to slow down, sip coffee with a view, wander the shoreline, and explore all that mid-coast Maine has to offer!

Springtide Cottage sits right along Route 1, directly overlooking Penobscot Bay. Parking is located slightly above and beyond the house, with space for up to two vehicles. Please be mindful not to block the roadway, as it is shared by nearby homes.

A short stone path leads down to the entrance. Inside, you’ll find:

-A bright, fully stocked kitchen

-A cozy dining nook and living area with bay views

-A back deck overlooking the yard and water — perfect for morning coffee or evening sunsets

Just beyond the kitchen is the bathroom with washer and dryer (please note: no bathtub).

At the rear of the kitchen, a very steep staircase (ladder-style) leads to the second-floor bedroom. These stairs are best navigated facing the steps, much like a ladder. Photos are included in the listing so you know exactly what to expect.

Upstairs, the queen bedroom is filled with natural light and offers:

-A heat pump for year-round comfort

-Closet and dresser space

-Extra blankets and pillows

Outside, guests can enjoy:

-Beach chairs for lounging

-Direct access to the rocky shoreline, ideal for sea glass hunting, shell collecting, or watching boats drift by.

Please note: there is a barn on the property that is not accessible to guests.

Guests have full access to the cottage and yard, as well as direct access to the shoreline. While this area feels quiet and secluded, Maine beaches are public by law, so you may occasionally see others exploring for sea glass.

Parking is reserved for guests in the area above the house. Please do not block the driveway or roadway used by nearby residents.

You won`t see us unless you need us! We live about 10 minutes from the house so can be there if there are any issues :)

We are located on the end of the pedestrian bridge (foot bridge) furthest from town, but you can easily get to town by walking across it. To get to the center of town from the house is about a 10 minute walk. We recommend having a car though as you are located right off of Rt. 1 and there is not reliable taxis or ride share services.

The cottage overlooks a working waterfront. You’ll see commercial and recreational boats, and there may be some early-morning waterfront activity — part of the authentic coastal Maine experience.

There is no TV, but WiFi is available if you’d like to stream on your own devices.

Two heat pumps provide both heating and air conditioning (one upstairs, one downstairs). A simple how-to guide is provided.

The stairs to the bedroom are extremely steep, and the bathroom is on the first floor. Midnight trips require care. Please review the stair photos carefully before booking.
