Spectacular Retreat Overlooking Caspian Lake, Private Dock

Gray Eyrie is one my favorite places on earth. Clive and his family are friendly, generous, and wonderful hosts. The house and the view are incredibly special, and Greensboro is a charming community. The surrounding region provides so many ways to enjoy the beauty of the natural world. Am always sad to leave, and already planning my return!

Super charming family home- full of character and great books! Well equipped with all one needs for a perfect vacation.One very minor point- couldn’t find lake access described in guest book.

We just came back from spending 5 days at the Gray Eyrie. We all wished we had booked for the whole week. You can't beat the view. We enjoyed our dinners in the backyard overlooking the lake and its surroundings. We took many pictures. The Eyrie is perfect for people who are looking for a peaceful retreat that is still close to many places to visit. From the house we had direct access to Barr Hill. That was a great hike. The Greensboro grocery store is only 5 minutes away. It offers anything you need to cook a delicious meal. We also had tea at a lovely place in Hardwick called the Perennial Pleasures Nursery. The property also offers a private access to the lake that you share with renters from the guest house. The owner of the house, Clive, is very friendly and welcoming. Thank you Clive for renting out your beautiful property. We'll be back!

We stayed 11 days and would love to return. The house was clean, sunlit and beautiful, with all the amenities you need and none you don't need. The tranquility, the amazing birdsong, the views and lake swims are unsurpassed. As an illustration of the peacefulness, we took a hike to the adjoining nature reserve and suddenly heard a low rumbling breaking the silence. Turns out it was the sound of cows chewing. Thank you!

The house and location are superb. Meeting the owners was also a special treat.

Peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. Quiet too! A place to be for a little solitude from the bustle of urban life and to enjoy what the Northeast Kingdom is about.

Exceeded my expectations!

When you approach from the road you'll see a house on top of a hill ... and yes that's it! It is comfortable, spacious, well equipped, with large panoramic windows that afford grand views of the Green Mountains and Vermont's ever changing skies. It borders conservation land; you can go hiking right out the front door. Go down the half mile driveway and across the road is your private Caspian Lake dock with canoe. If you are looking for the latest in 21st century amenities and entertainment, this may not be for you (but it has a phone and Internet and you can stream anything you want). But if you are looking for comfort in solitude surrounded by the outdoors, you can hardly do better. And for rainy days the house has more books than some libraries, including children's books.
