Guests can easily stroll in to town and visit the famous Dorset County Museum to discover and enjoy the richness of the county’s natural, historical and cultural heritage with world-class collections. Other popular attractions within the town are Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum, The Tutankhamun Museum which features a spectacular recreation of Tutankhamun's tomb and treasures, and The Keep Military Museum. Within easy reach is the Jurassic Coast, and the popular locations of Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Weymouth, Burton Bradstock, Westbay and Charmouth.

Famously named Casterbridge in Thomas Hardy’s novels 'The Mayor of Casterbridge' and 'Tess of the D’Urbervilles', it is easy to appreciate how Dorchester and the surrounding area inspired the author.
