The cabin is located so that its porches reveal the valley below providing a beautiful view from this mountain overlook. The cabin was clean, well appointed and ready for our move-in as promised. Staff at Smokey Mountain Retreat were friendly and fun. We will definitely be back.

Saddened to hear that it was sold and taken out of the rental program.

We have also stayed there in October and May for the seasons. The home is comfortable and updated and feels like home when we’re there.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Every summer we rent a cabin in the Waynesville/Maggie Valley area. Sometimes the cabin falls short of expectations. This cabin - Soaring Eagle - was awesome! The views were breathtaking and the huge covered porch is the perfect way to enjoy it. There's plenty of space for 5 guests but more than that might be a little cramped if they're all adults. The furniture is comfortable and well maintained. The kitchen very well stocked! The upstairs king bed was super comfortable but the other 2 beds were not. All the appliances worked well. The hot tub is a nice touch as well. There's a fire pit and corn hole, which we had a lot of fun playing. There was a ton of dust that kept accumulating in the main floor bedroom for some reason so beware if you have allergies. The A/C doesn't cool evenly. The downstairs is freezing, the middle floor (main) is comfortable but the upstairs is warm. However, with a window open at night with the table fan on, it was very comfortable. This is not a deal breaker for this lovely cabin. Its one of few cabins we would return to (in hopes they upgrade the mattresses or we'll bring a an extra pad). The rental company was very responsive and polite. Its obvious they care, unlike other local rental companies. The gated community is gorgeous and the roads are very well maintained. Its close to everything so even though you're up high, it doesn't take long to get anywhere. We absolutely loved our stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Soaring Eagle is a great cabin, fairly high on the mountain, with a great view. The interior is quite nice, with comfortable beds, TVs with satellite in every room, great internet, and mostly very clean. There were a number of dead insects, including roaches, on the floors, though. It seems they may have recently sprayed pesticides but didn’t clean up after. Not a big deal, but it’s something you’d think would be taken care of, especially considering most everything else in the cabin is so well done. The exterior decks are great, with multiple levels, and a number of seating options. The fire pit is a very nice thing to have. And there is a corn hole set and another outside game available for guest use in the garage. However the hot tub, for which a considerable fee is included in the rental price, was luke warm, seemed to have been over chlorinated, and had a cover that we could only partially remove—just one person could barely fit in—despite taking considerable time, and using tools found on the property. Add to that the other administrative fees that are charged, and the overall experience ends up less good than it could or should be. Overall I suppose I would recommend Soaring Eagle. But the hot tub issues/fees, pest management, and other fees are things to consider.
