The beauty of this hot springs was first discovered by the Nez Perce Indians in the 1870's. Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce led his tribe out of the reservation and through the Lolo Pass into the Bitter Root Valley. In pursuit of Chief Joseph and his people were General Howard and a group of soldiers. Trying to avoid a confrontation, Chief Joseph split his tribe into smaller groups.
One such group traveled through what is now Sleeping Child Creek and, facing a possible battle, they left their infants by the hot springs. When they returned, the infants were safe and peacefully sleeping, protected by the natural hot springs. Thus, Sleeping Child Hot Springs was named.

We loved our stay and our host!
We were lucky enough to make a second stay at Sleeping Child, and all were beyond happy with it. It was nice to see some improvements and projects in the works, in addition to everything already offered.
Very good experience. The pictures online don’t do it justice. It Way better than the pictures show
Lovely family getaway
Amazing. I will be back.
This property is breath taking and the lodge is amazing! Our retreat was so relaxing, rejuvenating, and productive with how comfortable the amenities were. The hot springs and the house were clean and well-taken care of. Would 100% recommend this stay to anyone looking for a nice getaway!
This was a perfect weekend for a cousins Christmas party! Plenty of room and the pools are amazing! Will rent again!
If there was a ever a place that brings out adventure, luxury and relaxation all at the same time it would be this place! Such an enjoyable company retreat for our executive team!!
Our family gathering of 20 people was a truly memorable one. The property is a secluded retreat snuggled in the Rocky Mountains, 6 miles from the nearest neighbor. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The swimming pool, the shuffleboard table, the ping-pong table and the card table were in constant use during the week. The star gazing of the Big Sky from the top floor was mind-blowing. No light pollution to ruin the view. Becci and Aron, the on-site property managers, were very responsive to requests. Whatever was within their power to fix was handled expeditiously.
Needs a few upgrades; new pots and pans maybe. But all in all a great time was had by all! Would love to experience in the wintertime!
Tranquil when we wanted to chill, lots of activities when we wanted to party. Super clean, very relaxing. Hope to come again!
