Shelly Beach House - Relaxed 1950s Beach House

Review by a very good dog Benji Woof! I give Shelly Beach House five paws 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 Best holiday ever. The beach is right there — no car rides (my favourite). Morning walks, salty smells, and plenty of interesting things to sniff. Inside the house there’s lots of space for zoomies, and the backyard is perfect for playing, sunbaking, and supervising the humans while they BBQ. I loved having a safe, fenced yard and humans loved that they didn’t have to drive anywhere. I made myself at home very quickly and would definitely come back. Highly recommend for dogs and their people. 🐕

Good location, space good

Amazing property! Bright and airy. Well stocked! Short walk to the beach and local shops. Easy 5-10 minute drive to shopping centre if you need anything else. Host is very responsive and helpful. Loved it.

Car access is a little difficult right on bend on a quite busy road. Inside property was exceptionally good, but both outside tables/chairs needed thorough cleaning before use. Great clubs easily accessible from this location.

Gorgeous property! Easy walk to the beach! Everything we need in the kitchen was provided. The family and our dog absolutely loved it and did not want to leave. So happy we chose the property for our little holiday. We will be back.

A lovely place in a good location, a short walk from Shelley Beach (and easy access to dog friendly North Shelley Beach). Nice cafe's and takeaways nearby. The only blemish was the floor under the furniture where are puppy was determined to store all her balls, old snacks and wrappers and dust, not too much, but enough to be icky. Also, you need to use the parking bay in front of the house, not the driveway, that wasn't clear to us, but no dramas.

Loved the property, deck was beautiful and perfect to entertain and hang out. House was beautiful, pet friendly. We will definetly be coming back.

The owner was very responsive. We managed to arrange a late check out due to having a newborn baby which causes us to always run late, the owner was very accommodating. The house is within very short walking distance to the beach and also to the local cafe and restaurant. The house was spacious and comfortable. The only downfall would be that some of the crockery was chipped but there were so many plates and mugs that weren’t chipped and could be used. Our stay was fantastic and we had everything that we needed while we were there.

Great place to visit with you pets

The house was clean and well set out for two couples, plenty of space. Parking was adequate for two vehicles but a little tight. Close to beach and surf club. Host was receptive and responsive to requests.

Very pleasant stay and pet friendly, clean and comfortable and no trouble getting around at all. A very nice stroll up to the surf club and beyond. My only wish was for air-conditioning on the extremely humid evenings we had. Would not stop us staying there again. Good value and good host.

We thought the house was great and our dog loved sniffing around the garden or watching the world go by on the secured porch. The beach was also an easy walk away.

Our stay at Shelley Beach House was fantastic. Great base location for beach, cafe, fish & chips.The house is really well equipped with all you need. Linen was fresh. Only negative was the lawn was really long and only got mown as we were leaving, but not a biggie really.We're already planning our next stay. Thanks so much for maintaining a great holiday home.

This beach house is amazing. Had the best couple of days break. The house is clean and tidy, well presented. Would definitely recommend it.

Easy access, great location, beautiful front deck.

Michael was welcoming, a little slow to react to a message about the toaster being broken. Property is in a good position, it certainly has an old beach house feel to it , the amenities were ok and was clean on arrival.

The house was so charming & spacious. The front deck was a treat to sit on & have a few bevies. Perfect location & Michael gave us a few pointers about the local.

This was our second stay at the Beach House. It’s a great house, super comfy and the location suits our needs perfectly.

Great retro house with updated kitchen and bathrooms. Overhead fans kept cottage cool and breezy. Lovely private, leafy garden. Easy 5 min walk to the beach and cafe.

The house was very well located being across the road from a path along the ocean and only a 10 min walk to the patrolled beach and 15 min walk to the dog friendly beach. The house was perfect for pets with timber floors and enclosed front patio and back yard. There was some traffic noise from the road and a few small maintenance issues which didn’t detract from our weeks stay. I’d recommend the area and the house.

Perfect for beach and puppy.

The whole house was spotless and a fantastic layout.You could do with a TV in the western bedroom.There are a couple of maint. jobs to be done but you know thatYour council doesn't like dogs on the flatter beaches which is disappointing.Thank you for replying to my messages so promptly, it was very much appreciated.Overall we loved staying there and the Salty Cod is a great place to buy dinner.If ever we find a reason ( or need ) to come back to that area, we will look at staying at your beach house.Have a great weekend.RegardsMartin and TanyaPS: your northern neighbour is from our area here and is very talkative

Great house and great location

Comfortable property.

Very comfortable and clean. Neatly set out surfer themed cottage opposite the beach. Modern bathroom. Dog friendly, which our little pooch enjoyed with no signs of the smells of previous pets. Very quiet at night with the main bedroom at the rear of the home. Having WiFi available was appreciated. Short walk down to the beach, cafe and restaurant.

Lovely to find a dog-friendly property with a large front veranda and enclosed backyard. Great space and really authentic beach shack character.

We loved the original beachshack vibe plus all the mod cons and good quality extras.It was a great spot to be able to just cross the road and walk to a dog friendly beach .We would definitely recommend it and look forward to staying again .

Beautiful beach house

This town is dog paradise. Dog friendly cafes and beaches and 1000 friendly dog faces. Great weekend away...woof.

We stay here a couple of times a year to catch up with old mates, have a surf and generally chill out. It really suits our needs. Close to beach, cafes, club and has a laid back beach house vibe with everything you need for a few days away. We enjoy it.

Nostalgic decor, very clean, modern well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. This was perfect accomodation for us while our son competed in a sports tournament. It had all that we needed - a short but pleasant stay.

The property was well situated and great for the family of 5. There were a few hurdles gaining access and confusion about our booking which caused a delay in checking in. This was however rectified relatively quickly by the property manager. The house is well appointed and comfortable. A bit of TLC and the place could be a cracker. This has already been covered in other reviews regarding lights, doors and cleanliness. However, would stay again as these were only minor inconveniences, the positives well outweighed the hurdles.

Was part of group playing walking basketball at Niagara Park. Came north the day before and a couple of players stayed them played. Chance for swims and a nice meal at the Entrance before they headed home. Family tagged in the next day with the grand dog. Great spot for us all, dog beach at north Shelley, cafe at surf club.. really great few days away.

Perfect location, updated bathroom and kitchen, however property needs repairs screen doors don't lock/close so felt unsafe and no a/c and couldn't keep doors open at night, very hot and affected everyones sleep. The fans and lights in the bedrooms have a strange remote control so when one is turned on the lights or fans come on in other bedrooms - disrupted everyone's sleep. The couch is falling apart as is the outdoor furniture, which is unusable. The outside bin was missing its lid creating a haven for flies and other issues which seem easily repairable. So happy with our stay at Shelly Beach. The ease of being able to walk out the door with your beach bag and be on the sand in mere minutes is so relaxing. Shelly Beach is so beautiful,tranquil and has the added safety of being a Surf Lifesaving patrolled beach. Shelly Beach House was neat and tidy and well equipped for a comfortable stay. Shops and takeaways are very close and convenient, and if you can't tear yourself away there are plenty of restaurants that deliver. The only negative was that we eventually had to leave hahaha. Thank you to our host for sharing this beautiful seaside house with us. We will definitely be back!

Thank you so much Michael. 5 min walk from great coffee shop (dog friendly), 1min walk to regular beach, less than 10min walk to off-leash dog beach. Great little enclosed backyard for our dog. It was just me, my partner and my dog. However this house is so well equipped for a family to stay. Big fridge, great sized kitchen. Big family table out the front, out the back and inside. Big comfy couch. It has beach shack vibes. Board games. Big tv. We enjoyed our little getaway.

Good location and good communication with property manager. Older accommodation. Creaky floorboards which usually wouldn’t be an issue but can be if you have a baby. Needed to manually close the blinds because the turning rod was broken. The light in the room also turned on randomly at night in the front room. Bed in front room, not fixed to the wall and moves. The fans are great as there is no air con. Needs several updates. Dated accom, but location is good.

We had a fantastic stay at Shelly Beach House. The location is unbeatable, close to everything you need. We travelled as two families with two toddlers and two dogs. Ceiling fans in every room to keep cool in this warm weather.

The location of the house is fantastic but the house itself feels very neglected. The electrical wiring is such that if you turn on the light in any bedroom the lights in all the other bedrooms also come on - which of a night with sleeping kids wasn’t ideal. The house is advertised as accommodating up to 6 people and yet there were only 2 bowls in the kitchen. The house did not feel overly clean and walking on the floor barefoot left us with black feet. The house just feels run down. The location is the best thing about the property.

We took our two senior Pugs. House was ideal. Lovely walks, great dog friendly area. We were very happy. It was exactly what we were looking for. We intend to re visit for sure.

Cleanliness of property poor standard needs professional clean and check on BBQ not good enough when gas bottle empty on arrival.
