Place was filthy.
Such a beautiful, quiet spot, right on the Rio Grande River! Beautiful home and grounds. Nice area to relax outside and watch the hummingbirds and listen to the river flow by. In between Santa Fe and Taos. Local wineries that are fun to visit. Host was friendly and accommodating. Will definitely stay here when I come back.
VRBO 229517 This property is in Embudo, New Mexico and the host is Donna Heinley. Pictures in your website show a beautiful home, nestled on the Rio Grande River. The reality was that the house was not useable and our trip became a disaster. We have stayed in lots of VRBO’s and never had a problem. This time, the condition of the house was so bad that we couldn’t stay there. The toilet overflowed on the first morning and we couldn’t get it to function . The host explained that no toilet paper could be used and had a sign stating, “please do not put paper in the toilet.” We had only been there a matter of hours and had not used the commode much when the overflow occurred that first morning. Toilet paper was not the issue. A functioning toilet is essential to the use of your rent-houses. We had to go outside to use the bathroom. Other problems include: ⁃ The house isn’t air conditioned (other than a small window unit in the bedroom.)We knew this. However, without opening the windows, it was unbearably hot. The problem is that there are no screens in the major windows and the house became infested with flies when we tried to cool off. ⁃ The house had numerous electrical issues, including bathroom electrical fixtures in the process of being repaired, with incomplete work left on the sink area. ⁃ The house was not clean, with a rodent nest under the outdoor grill, dust throughout the house and an unclean kitchen. My husband and I believe we should get our money back.
We loved being at this property. We wanted a place to unwind and this fit the bill perfectly. We kept a fire going and the host provided lots of firewood. We would definitely return!
The location is remote . Situated between Taos and Santa Fe. 30 minute drive to Taos for shopping and dining, longer to Santa Fe. Well suited for couples who can do some cooking,
Nice location, lovely backyard, extremely comfortable. Very helpful owner.
The river runnning right alone side the house and backyard makes for an amazing place. Beautiful home, very clean and well appointed. And Donna is a fantastic host!
Beautiful place. Everything we needed and 1/2 way between Taos and Santa Fe, so easy drive to wherever your headed. Internet was a little wonky, but did not use much. Never turned on TV, because the view and River were enough!
Gorgeous location and property!
The owner was gracious, the home very comfortable, and the setting tranquil and lovely.
