Stayed Apr 13, 2026A delightful, peaceful desert retreat just minutes from the town of Patagonia. The setting was extremely beautiful, with panoramic views of the mountains and abundant bird-watching opportunities. We plan to be back!

Stayed Mar 29, 2026John's house is in such a great location - beautiful mountain views, peaceful and secluded, yet less than 3 miles from the town of Patagonia. The house was just the right size, comfortable, nicely furnished with pretty much everything you'd need, including a well equipped kitchen. Cindy came by to show us all the important details about the house and property, and though we didn't require her assistance while we were there, it was good to know she was just down the road and a phone call away if needed. The early April mornings were beautiful - watching and listening to the birds, especially the very lively black-chinned and broad-billed hummingbirds (and rambunctious Gila Woodpeckers). We had a couple of welcome thunderstorms while we were there, and it was much greener than when we were in Patagonia slightly earlier last year. The night sky was expansive with many stars, once the full moon had waned. There's plenty to do nearby if you're interested in outdoor recreation (e.g. hiking, bird watching and cycling). I did a couple of half-day gravel bike rentals at Patagonia Bikes - very friendly accommodating owner and staff and excellent bikes. We went on an informative guided bird walk at Patagonia Lake State Park (free, though you still have to pay the regular state park entry fee). Some of our favorite places in town were Gathering Grounds and Quail Covey cafes, Queen of Cups winery and Patagonia Lumber Company, and Pronghorn Pizza at Dos Cabezas winery in Sonoita

Stayed Mar 15, 2026It was a record heat wave while we were there, but the house remained cool and we enjoyed sitting outside on the veranda. Hummingbirds kept us entertained. It was our second time staying here and we hope to return again. It was so peaceful and quiet. Everything thing we needed to use as a hub for exploring the surrounding area.

Stayed Feb 16, 2026This secluded home in the hills of rural Patagonia was everything we had hoped for. John was an extremely responsive host and Cynthia, the onsite manager was also extremely responsive when we had questions or needs. The views from this home were stunning...from EVERY room! We appreciated the nice cookware in the kitchen as we did prepare meals every day. The property is down a rough dirt road, enhancing the rural and remote experience we wished for. The town of Patagonia was friendly and the hikes we did on the Arizona Trail were just what we wanted. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed Feb 7, 2026Loved that a real person greeted us to show us around etc.Lovely view and the house was amazing The host was very responsive. They followed up on our messages promptly. I had a father for an Architect and this is a Quality built house. Artfully done. Close to Patagonia for small supplies. Tranquil Community, Friendly people. The care taker was great and obviously takes pride in their work, the house was tidy and clean.I really don’t want to praise it too much , because I would like it forever! Thank you John for sharing your home with us. Melinda, Margaret and Marge Three Sisters on a journey

Stayed Feb 3, 2024Incredible views greet you every morning from this hilltop home. Great kitchen and bathrooms, and comfortable all around. Proximity to great birding hotspots made our stay special, 80+ species for early February. The quiet beauty around the home was restful and peaceful. We hope to return again as it fits our lifestyle perfectly.
