The space
This is a second home for us and we try to keep it stocked with essentials for ourselves and our guests. We live on a small farm in Pickens County near by and we try to keep you stocked with staples that are nice to have when grocery stores are not as close by. However, Holly Springs Grocery/Gas Station is just down the mountain. Feel free to use what you need. We also have hiking hammocks, bug spray, flash lights, dvds, books, toys for kids, and a first aid kit for your use. Please Note: our cabin is literally in the middle of the wilderness and there is no internet or cell phone reception. We do have a house phone on site for emergencies or if you need to make contact with us or other guests.
Guest access
You will have full access to the 7 acres of our property and the 50,000 acres of DNR Wildlife management area and trails. Some hills are a little steep when walking up so please use caution. Also, we recommend carrying bear spray, compass, and being prepared as much as possible. It is very easy to get turned around. Our property lines are marked with orange flags.
Interaction with guests
If at anytime you have questions feel free to reach out. We have supplied maps, area information, sites of interest, etc. there onsite.
Other things to note
If you would like for us to put you in contact with a local fly fishing guide or kayaking guide- just let us know!
We go on vacation to get away from it all. This is a great spot. The drive up the mountain is nice and when you arrive you are surrounded by woods. Loved the firepit which had plenty of wood avail. Good firm bed (may want to bring an extra blanket in colder months), nice hot shower and decent pressure. Kitchen and bath well stocked. Home has a real cozy feeling.
Property was a great spot for several hikes at different waterfalls and state and national parks. We enjoyed building a fire every night and roasting marshmallows. Very remote, exactly what we were looking for. We would definitely recommend it and rent it again for future trips.
Very secluded and private
Very secluded relaxing getaway. Tons to do nearby and plenty to do right there on the property. Wonderful place for families ❤️
What an amazing property to experience what glamping dreams are made of! Cozy, unplugged, and plenty to do!
I rented this property for my mom and her boyfriend for their anniversary and they absolutely loved it. They loved getting to unplug and enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds the property. It was also easy to get to unlike some other cabins. I would definitely rent this property for them again.
The property is amazing. It is peaceful to the point of healing. I needed a staycation after a month of illness and a few crazy weeks at work. A true gem and just what the doctor ordered. Extraordinary value and some of the best money I've spent in a very long time. Brent has been awesome, also. Communicating promptly and taking care of a few small issues along the way. Met him today as he was up here doing maintenance. He is a great guy and the model VRBO host. A primary concern for me was still being able to work a few hours a week while I was here. The Starlink internet works well enough to stream, browse, and text. The infrastructure in this area isn't yet mature enough to support Zoom / Teams / Skype etc. If you visit and need to do a video call, I highly recommend the new Starbucks in Pickens. Otherwise, I was surprised to find decent connectivity even during storms. The area is some of the prettiest in the world. Sassafras Mountain, Jumping Off Rock, Whitewater Falls, are all in easy driving distance. Surrounding towns like Brevard, Greenville, Cashiers, and Highlands are absolutely worth a visit. You won't run out of things to do, you will run out of time to do it in! 5 star experience; start to finish.
Thank you
The place was awesome and we plan to come back because the 2 nights we stayed was not long enough. Also probably wont find internet in this area but the Starlink service worked great and probably the only thing that will work out there. Brett was a great host and had everything we needed. The place was super nice and we all felt right at home. We will be going back!!!
Very private location with all the comforts of home. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable layout. Really enjoyed the proximity to Lake Jocassee and Keowee. Nearby are many scenic locations with miles and miles of well maintained Forest Service roads for hiking and sightseeing. Driving up to Jumping Off Rock is a must see overlook. Stunning view of Lake Jocassee,
My husband and I brought our two small children for the weekend to spend some time together before the end of summer. We had the best time, everything was perfect and my 4 year old won’t stop asking when we can go back! We especially enjoyed the porch and fire pit. Bed were also very comfy!
Enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful. Beautiful place. Owner had quick responses. Very friendly
The cabin was indeed very nice and the owners have thought about everything - a fun relaxing time!
