Summary:

Creek water murmurs just beyond the meadow as you sip coffee on the patio of this redwood hideaway. This modern secluded forest sanctuary sleeps 4 with a gas fireplace and your own private redwood grove. Marimar Estate's vineyard tasting room is just 5 minutes away, The Barlow's food scene 10 minutes. After exploring Sebastopol's artsy downtown, return to your 6-acre hideaway where a footbridge leads to evening walks along the creek. The forest feels like it's all yours here.<br>

The Space:

Spend mornings on the patio as the valley wakes up, afternoons among the tasting rooms or hiking Sugarloaf Ridge, and evenings around the firepit with a bottle from the day's barrel visits.

Beneath the vaulted ceiling, a leather sofa and burgundy recliner face the stone gas fireplace so the flames hold the room. Sliding glass doors open wide to the patio and pull greenery into your line of sight. Speckled granite tops the galley with a window above the sink framing the trees, and the antique dining table draws the group together for slow evenings.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Step onto the brick paver patio where a trestle dining table seats six beneath a blue market umbrella — mountain views stretching beyond the maintained lawn. The grounds give way to dense forest, and a wooden footbridge leads you through the trees to the creek. Wander to the far right of the back meadow and you'll discover Gabe's Grove, a secluded redwood circle with its own bench and picnic table. Fire up the gas grill as the forest comes alive with twilight sounds.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

The primary bedroom envelops you in calm — a dark wood bed frame with slatted headboard, matching dresser with TV, and a sliding glass door that opens directly to the outdoors. Light hardwood floors and neutral tones set the stage for restful sleep. The second bedroom serves as a private sleeping den with a comfortable futon that converts to a queen bed. The home sleeps 4 guests.

Guest Access:

Step into a modern barn aesthetic with a stone-anchored vaulted living room, slide the doors open to the patio, and follow the wooden footbridge trail through the property's forest. You've got the whole home, with a gas fireplace, BBQ, outdoor dining, and mountain views. Punch in the keypad code at the door; pull up to two cars into the driveway.

The Neighborhood:

Your forest hideaway sits in the Sebastopol Hills, where redwoods meet wine country just west of town. Marimar Estate Vineyards is practically next door at 0.3 miles — taste their acclaimed Pinot Noirs on the terrace. Freeman Vineyard (1.3 mi) and Charles Heintz Vineyards (1.6 mi) offer intimate tastings by appointment. Char Vale Vineyards (1.9 mi) pours wines in a rustic barn setting. For provisions, Bill's Farm Basket (2.3 mi) stocks local produce and gourmet goods. The charming village of Occidental lies 3 miles west with its famous Negris Italian Restaurant and Friday farmers market (June-October). The Wild Poppy Cafe (2.4 mi) serves farm-fresh breakfasts, while Howard Station Cafe (2.4 mi) is a local institution for hearty meals. Outdoor enthusiasts love The Madeleine Sone Wildlife Preserve (1.9 mi) for nature walks. Ragle Ranch Park (3.3 mi) offers 157 acres of trails through oak groves.

Getting Around:

Sebastopol is about 70 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and Highway 12 — a quick drive into the apple orchards and vineyards of west Sonoma. Park two vehicles in the private driveway — no street parking needed. A car makes exploring west Sonoma easy — apple farms, coastal redwoods, and the Russian River are all a short drive away.

Other Things to Note:

Two exterior security cameras monitor the driveway and utility area. to the right of the drive. The home stays naturally cool thanks to the redwood canopy and forest breezes — you'll find the temperature perfect for sleeping even on warm summer days. The galley kitchen's newer gas stove cooks beautifully, making meal preparation a pleasure. Don't miss morning coffee on the patio when the forest is most alive with birdsong. Take the wooden footbridge to explore the creek — kids especially love this adventure. Gabe's Grove offers a magical private retreat spot for reading or quiet contemplation. The futon in the second bedroom easily converts between couch and bed configurations. The primary renter must be 21 or older. The property's modern barn architecture and 6 acres of privacy make this a true escape while keeping you close to Sebastopol's food and wine scene.

Location was great. House was comfy.Suggest you warn future guests about the steep and narrow driveway The only concern about the house was the presence of ants in the bathroom. Additional information about disposal of garbage.

This was a super house in a lovely location, convenient to the coast (west), to wine country (east), to the redwoods (north)… We will come again.

House is very comfortable and well appointed. The property is stunning. The location is perfect...went from the Redwoods to the coast and back. This is my second stay here this year. Will definitely be back.

The lawn was not maintained so we couldn’t use the backyard. Most windows do not open so extremely hot. Could not get anyone to reply to my emailed concerns. The wifi is so slow can barely use it. The driveway is so steep it scared us every time we drove in. There is some kind of rehab center that shares the private road, didn’t feel safe.
