Salty Dawg - Grayton Beach, 30A, Close to the Red Bar, Bike to Seaside!

Great location in Grayton Beach. Convenient to everything g, quiet and charming. House needs more light, especially in kitchen and dining areas. We could not play games at table because it was so dark. House was clean but could use some TLC-doors and door frames need replacing, kitchen needs new cabinets and could use a few added essentials (cookie sheets, new pans). We had a great time!

Some of us could have made this rental work. But my husband's and son's allergies were triggered by environmental allergens, so Ocean Reef was very gracious and allowed us to move to another rental. I think we might be Ocean Reef customers for a long time. Their customer service is top notch!

We love Old Grayton, and enjoyed our stay. We arrived on Thursday after the snow had fallen along the coast, and there was still lots of melting snow on the deck and dripping off the roof, so that was a bit treacherous but fortunately none of us old folks fell. We discovered the first night that we had no hot water. We made a call the next morning and the worker came out to discover that the water heater was turned off on the top, presumably because of the freezing temps, and had not been turned back on for our visit. That was inconvenient, but an easy fix. The worker remarked that the water heater was very old and needed replacing. Also, the toilet seat in the cabin area bathroom was cracked/broken and had been repaired with packing tape and needed replacing. The microwave on/off button was loose and fell off. I reported both to the manager. Otherwise we loved our time in this house. My biggest complaint is that VRBO takes its fee from your credit card on top of what you've been told the total cost is. Surprise! That seems like a racket! We were sharing the cost with our friends, and my husband and I ended up eating the additional 150 rather than surprise them with it. We will try to avoid VRBO for future trips.

Clean, close to beach, quiet

Salty Dawg is a short walk to the beach, the Red Bar, and Chiringo, on a quiet side street. The house was clean, everything was in working order, and there were plenty of towels for our group. We absolutely loved Salty Dawg, and will be reserving it for next year.

We loved the house in terms of style, space, location and amenities. The only downside and only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is because the master bathroom was not working as soon as we checked in. The toilet would not flush and water pressure in the same bathroom was very weak (faucet was just a trickle). We called their service number and they said someone would come the next day. Someone did but they were not able to fix the problem , they said they had to call a plumber. They promised to have someone there by the 3rd day but no one came and it didn't get fixed until the 4th day. There was no sense of urgency to make it right. We paid for 2-bathroom accommodations but really only had one bathroom working for 6 people for half of our stay. Very frustrating and stressful!

Had a great time in the house. Everything was clean. Nothing fancy and you didn’t have to worry about messing anything up. Just the basics and it was like staying in a cabin with all the wood paneling . I would recommend investing in a new toilet in the master bedroom . Had to have a plumber come out and we still had some issues . The toilet looked like it was original to the house .

This is a wonderful place to get to know Grayton Beach. My wife and I are architects, and this house is a great example of mid-70s modern residential design. Front door has a porthole window which is a great detail. The living room is spacious and has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams. It fits Grayton and is very comfortable. Only concern several of the small appliances were pretty worn. The coffee pot works great though! Oh and by the way it is huge! Lots of space. We greatly enjoyed our stay.
