Stayed Jun 5, 2021We have been coming to Little Compton for decades, and this is by far our favorite location. Sitting on the front porch, there is no need to go anywhere, because you are already there in that you are looking at a peaceful saltwaterish pond (with an active and varied bird population -- they also vacation in L.C.). You can see a sliver of ocean and can hear it, but are sheltered from ocean winds should they act up. But you will want to walk to the beach, and the walk is as good as walking on the beach itself-- quiet and country lane-ish, with intermittent views of ocean and rocks. This is a small cabin -- it was the two of us most of the time -- with one guest on the sofabed for a few nights --and that was fine. This cabin is 100 years old and feels it, in a good way, solid old hardwood floors etc. (No modern granite countertops, and who cares, if you need to have that bring your own.) Hidden highlights of the interior included a totally classic vintage Electrolux vacuum cleaner, the tube kind that looks like a fat dachsund (it works fine, we took pictures of it, we wanted to take it for a walk on the beach but didn't), an equally vintage Waring blender (works better than modern ones, though of course there is a food processor and all the other stuff you need), and something called a Swing-o-Matic, straight out of the 50's, who knows what it does. These were surprises we genuinely appreciated. But it was basically idyllic, the price was decent which was a big factor, and we will be back.
