THINGS TO DO
Dining
If you're hunting for a good cup of coffee to kick-start your adventures, we love the bulletproof coffee at Uplifted in Bingen (a cute little drive-through coffee stand).
The White Salmon Bakery makes delicious breakfast sandwiches, tasty pastries, and fantastic bread. They also have a lunch menu with lots of sandwich options- this is a good spot to pick up some food for a winery picnic. You can also find locally sourced picnic supplies at Feast Market & Deli in White Salmon.
For an old-fashioned diner breakfast, we like the Country Café in Lyle. The bacon is especially good.
Everybody's Brewing in White Salmon is our favorite spot for lunch or dinner- the food is good and so is the beer. The nachos and burrito bowls are delicious, and we also like the gyro sandwich. It can get a little crowded, but if you go early there's usually less of a wait.
Wineries
Domaine Pouillon has excellent wine, and their friendly staff will make you feel right at home. They also have a delicious cheese plate to accompany your tasting.
We love to pack a picnic and spend an afternoon in the gardens at Syncline winery. They have lawn games, hammocks, and beautiful scenery.
And it's worth going to Cor Cellars just to see their gorgeous tasting room, with sneaky views of Mt. Hood on clear days (the wine is good too!)
Hiking
There are so many great hikes in the area! Our favorite hike is the Arch Loop at Catherine Creek. The spring wildflowers are a treat, but no matter the season you'll get great views of Mt. Hood and the Columbia River. Watch out for poison oak near the creek.
For an easier stroll, check out the Klickitat Trail. It starts just a few blocks from the house, and travels 31 miles along an old rail line. The best views start from the Fisher Hill Bridge about a mile up the trail, where you walk right next to the wild and scenic river. In January and February, this is prime bald eagle territory, and if you go out just before sunset, you can see dozens of eagles flying in to roost for the night.
And if you're looking for a challenge, the Lyle Cherry Orchard trail delivers a serious climb, with views to match. This is a strenuous hike, so make sure you're prepared (and watch out for poison oak and ticks). The views are worth it all though!
Beaches
Doug's Beach is a world-class kite-surfing destination, but on calm days it's one of the best secret spots to find some shade and go for a swim in the Columbia River. It's usually not too crowded, and there are a few picnic tables right on the beach.
We also like to take our kids to wade in Horsethief Lake during the summer months- it can get a little crowded in the late afternoons, but it's a good spot (and you can rent stand up paddleboards there).
Shopping
It's always fun to take a spin through Antiques & Oddities in Bingen. They have a super eclectic mix of stuff to browse, so you never know what you might find.

We enjoyed the views from the front deck of the house and the big picture windows. 3 bedrooms and a loft/library area were perfect for all 8 of us. Its a great location to relax, play cards and games and read. We visited a local winery and drove through the Schreiner Farms to see buffalo, camels, zebras etc. Unexpected snow arrived a couple days early and it was beautiful to look at, just not to drive in the area.
Great place for a family get together
We loved our time at this beautiful rental! Had so much fun, so much relaxation and time spent together. The layout was really great and we loved ho much nature was around. Highly recommend.
It was as an awesome place. Thanks
?
We stayed as a work retreat for our east side and west side offices to hang out. It was wonderful. Perfect for us to spread out and also congregate. We had a great time and the views are awesome.
We had the best weekend celebrating our wedding with our closest friends. The space had everything we could have needed. The back patio was a huge hit, we loved our morning coffee and late night talks around the fire pit table. Highly recommend!
We were celebrating my 40th birthday with 6 of my girlfriends. We had a blast, it is beautiful inside and out. Lots of room to relax, play and enjoy the view. We would definitely stay again!
Great setting and views. Beautiful. Cabin well supplied and fantastic library with amazing collection of DVDs and games. Great game room. Private spaces for everyone to hang out.
This was an absolutely gorgeous cabin! Super fun, beautiful views and so welcoming. Felt very cozy and comfy. Just make sure that you know that voices travel far in this house, as many rooms are connected by vents. Only complaints we had was there were two broken chairs on the deck and the living area had not been vacuumed as there was a lot of long white dog hair all over. Overall amazing!!
Our family stayed in the Rowland Log Cabin for a weekend, and we wish we could have stayed longer! The cabin was just as beautiful in person as it was in the pictures. We enjoyed sitting on the covered deck in the afternoon/evening, and watching the sun set with a beautiful mountain view! The master bedroom was spacious, with a comfortable king-size bed, vaulted ceilings, and an attached bathroom. Our kids (6 and 9 yrs old) loved the loft upstairs, with two sets of bunk beds, their own bathroom, and a comfy lounging area equipped with a TV and Xbox. The extra large bean bags were also a big hit! The teenagers (two 16 yr olds), appreciated having their own bedrooms, including a TV and queen bed in each room. The game room was fun for everyone and included a dart board, shuffleboard, and hunting game (as well as another TV!). In addition to the location and the amenities, the attached dog kennel was a huge and welcome bonus forour two dogs. Overall the house was very well stocked, clean (no bugs in sight!), and fun for the whole family. We are already planning our next trip!
The building is rustic but has all the comforts of a fantastic place to stay, and lots of room. The gameroom was ok but not as great as the pictures make it look, more of a basement dungeon with no windows, broken console machines and small. However, this is otherwise a fantastic place for wine and fun. The bugs infestation in the log structure was terrible, they need to fix that before they rent it out to anyone else. I had bugs falling on me in my sleep, not cool at all.
Great cabin with lots to do on site in a private/secluded setting. Was a great get away. Only downside was the amount of dead bugs on the window seals and live bugs flying around and on the furniture. Other wise it felt pretty tidy and clean.
The cabin was great, expected for the bugs. We were always having to kill them, and even brought some home that we had to kill. I wanted to like it, and everything was good but we couldn’t get past the bugs. Maybe in the winter this would be great. The windows are not sealed to keep bugs out. Too bad.
Beautiful cabin, fully furnished and guest ready. Many extra amenities too
Our stay was amazing, the house was perfect, and the view spectacular
We gathered as a family to celebrate our son's birthday. the house was very large an accommodated all nine of us. we especially like the game room and openness of the living area. We would highly recommend this house to our friends.
Gorgeous cabin! Bathrooms are updated nicely. Plenty of room to spread out with the finished lower level. Kitchen had every single possible item you could think of! Lots of cooking options! I would go back in a heartbeat! And hopefully will! Thanks
We had a great time at the Cabin. We really enjoyed the mountain views and game room. There were unfortunately a few things that could have been better. The golf arcade game wasn’t working and shuffle board could use a bit more sand. Additionally, there was evidence of mice and that became a problem when we left produce on the counters. Check in was very easy and the host were very responsive.
Overall we really like the place, great views and amazing place all around. The only thing we noticed could use attention was a pest control service, we noticed a lot of mouse droppings around the patio and entry, also many webs that could be cleaned off and treated for to prevent spiders in home. Our kids loved the arcade, they might need serviced though as the golf game didn’t start up, and screen on the hunting game is green and will go out soon.
