Ideal for a romantic getaway near the river, a weekend in wine country with friends, or some quality time in the redwoods with the family.

Peacefully secluded among the redwood trees, neighboring the exclusive Bohemian Grove, and just blocks from downtown Monte Rio and the Russian River is Bohemian GrOOve.

This property contains 2 separate units each with their own updated kitchen and bath.

** It will only be rented to one party at a time. A guest can enjoy only the main flat or take advantage of both during their stay (for an additional fee).

The main house is 2 bedrooms with a cozy living room and an updated kitchen and bathroom with a claw foot tub. There is a queen bed in one room, and a day bed in the other room that can be used as 2 twin beds or a full king. It sleeps 4.

Downstairs is a large studio with it's own functional kitchen and updated bath. There is also a semi-private additional office nook with a futon and a desk. Off the office nook is a private balcony sitting amongst the redwoods. It also sleeps 4. (please call for pricing)

(The main house can be rented separately or together with the lower flat, but guests at Bohemian GrOOve will enjoy private use of the whole property)

Enjoy preparing your own home cooked meals in the stocked kitchens, but there are also good options within walking distance for dining out.

Bartlett's market has many essentials and is just a few minutes away. On the weekends, Light Wave in Monte Rio has fabulous breakfast selections and freshly baked goodies. Also, close-by is, The Highland Dells, an excellent choice for German cuisine overlooking the river. The Village Inn also has a friendly staff, a well-stocked bar, and is river front. If you don’t mind driving a few miles, the town of Guerneville is only 5 miles away, Occidental is about 7 miles, and the Pacific Ocean is only 10 miles from the home; All have excellent choices for dining out.

Enjoy the days lounging/boating at the Russian River (Monte Rio beach is just blocks away) and in the evening enjoy soaking in the hot tub under the redwood shaded stars. Day trips are easy to Bodega Bay, hikes in Armstrong Woods, the Ocean, or boating on Lake Sonoma. The Northwood Golf course is also very close and is open to the public.

For wine enthusiasts, the closest winery is less than 10 miles away (or champagne at Korbel). Just a bit further is the turnoff to Westside/Dry Creek Road, a beautiful, winding country road with picturesque vineyards following the river up into Healdsburg. Your world-class wine tour awaits!

Bohemian GrOOve is equipped with cable TV and WIFI. Sit on the deck and enjoy the redwood view, sit around the fire pit table with wine and good conversation, or light up the BBQ for dinner. We invite you to Bohemian GrOOve for a memorable Russian River getaway!

The home was incredibly lovely and had everything we needed. We loved being surrounded by redwoods and the peacefulness. The hot tub was wonderful and we appreciated all the cooking appliances, including the milk frother for homemade lattes.Sarah’s communication was quick. We would recommend arriving during the day, especially if there is rain, as the last short part of the road up is typically windy.

The description of this place is misleading and I would even say deceitful. The place is more like a shack that feels like it is sliding off the hillside. It is up a narrow one lane very treacherous road that is barely paved with mostly ruts. If you have a regular car, it will bottom out. There is only room for 1 car and if you meet another car, good luck. It is not “blocks” from the river or downtown, it is a treacherous drive. It says 2 bedrooms, sleeps six. The main house, which is what is advertised, DOES NOT sleep 6 people. There is a queen bed and a full size daybed. Again, deceitful. It could sleep 3 people at most. They told us that since we are 2 couples, we would be more comfortable having the downstairs unit that they would rent it to us for an additional $50 which seemed like a deal at the time. Walking into the “main house” you are met with a pungent smell that lingers and never goes away. The kitchen does have a new stove and microwave, but is not what I call updated. Everything else seems like it is falling apart. Even the laminated surface on the cabinets is peeling off. We chose the downstairs. It is a dump. The shower looks like the owner might have decided to do it themselves while the bathroom itself is not updated and looks haggard, same with the kitchen. If you look closely, you can see that the supporting ceiling beams downstairs has visible termite damage and when you touch it, dust from the termites just pours through. This can not be safe.

Russian River Privacy is a great description of this property. We wanted to be truly among the Redwoods and we were! The owners provided very clear instructions about checking in and accessing the property and we appreciated their prompt responses to our questions. The only challenge was the very narrow road leading to the house, but we were given clear information about this in advance and knew to just take it slow. I would stay at Russian River Privacy again if I make a return visit to the area.

Cute cabin high up in the trees. Lovely stay. Road was a little treacherous. Would not drive a sports car up to the house again.

Could not get the hot tub above 100F and it took a while to get there. The on demand hot water for the cottage set at lukewarm. The final full-day there was no hot water in the cottage. Everthing is controlled by Bluetooth remotely, there has to be a better value for you vacation dollar. Took the owner a day to get back at me??

We really enjoyed the cabin. It is magnificently situated on a very steep downslope in the middle of redwoods. As others noted, you can either park on the downhill side (requires about 90 steps climb to the cabin) or you can drive along a narrow mountain path with steep drop-off on one side and steep hill on the other, with about 12 steep steps down to the cabin. Definitely not a place to bring your 90 year old mother. But safe for kids and dogs, I think. As others noted, heaven knows what we would do if we crossed paths with someone on the high road, I guess we would have to do some tricky reverse driving. But we came in and out a few times and didn't cross paths with anyone. The cabin has everything needed, the kitchen, while small, is very well outfitted with what is needed for preparing decent meals. The hot tub was amazing. This cabin is definitely on the rough and ready side though, the master bedroom is nice but the second bedroom is small. Heating could be an issue because the main room has the main heater supply and the bedrooms could be chilly. But we thought it was ok. We also noted that some of the electric outlets didn't work but once we sorted out which were on and which were off, we were fine. Shower curtain would be improved if it would be a lot less stiff, it doesn't lay well around the bathtub/shower. One hitch was that when we arrived we noted that there was not much propane, there are 5 tanks but only one of them had any and it was half-empty. There are a few nice toys that take propane, like the BBQ and the fire-pit table The owner apologized profusely and offered to reimburse us if we went down to the town to pick up more, which would not have bothered me but I guess some guests would be annoyed. As it turned out we managed with what we had. Overall, pleased with the place. If you come here you should have a healthy sense of adventure, though.
