Roche Harbor Bayfront Escape: Luxe Retreat with Kayaks, Deck & Wildlife Views

The view was breathtaking. It was cozy and felt like home. Perfect space for a group of people to be together but still have privacy. We could not have imagined a better set up for seven adults (two from the Midwest) who wanted to be together, catch up, relax, and surround ourselves with the beauty of the NW. Extremely well appointed.

The house was amazing. Perfect space, awesome views, all amenities you could want! Loved our time on the island, would love to come back in the summer to use all the water stuff! Thanks so much!

We had a great time on the island and the house was perfect for our needs. It was too cold to use the kayaks or sit outside on the deck, so we’d love to come back in the summer months. We got up early one day to watch the sunrise and it was so beautiful and worth it - highly recommend. The little grocery store in Roche Harbor Resort was great to grab a few snacks and drinks. We loved hiking all the trails right across the street from the house, our kids could climb in there for hours. The house was well equipped, the only things I would say is the light/fan in one of the upstairs bedrooms wouldn’t turn off by using the switch and the upstairs bathroom is a little dated and had a lot of spiderwebs. The stairs might be tricky for some, especially taking up luggage, but they weren’t a problem for us. Also, the coffee pot should probably be replaced. After all was said and done, we would definitely stay here again. We explored the entire island and it didn’t take too long to get from one side to the other. The owners were responsive and very easy to work with. Thanks for a great long weekend!

What a perfect place to gather with family who stayed all over the island. Large decks and dining area, well stocked kitchen, a grill, lots of seating. Could not have been better outfitted for a lovely weekend. Don't miss the Sculpture Park and Cattle Point. Beautiful! Thank you to our hosts for all the thoughtful touches.

Beautiful place, beautiful location. The house had everything we needed for cooking, bikes, kayaks to go over to Wescott Bay Oysters, tons of games for kids. We had a really wonderful time here.

This is a really great spot with easy access to roach Harbor without being in the middle of it all.

This home and location are in one of the most magical places in the world. We traveled with a family of four, a family of three, and a grandma. Three kids total ages 3-13. The setting was perfect and walkable to so much Roche Harbor has to offer, even through the Roche Harbor community trails right behind the home. Having watersport gear like the kayaks was so fun. Ping-pong table was wonderful. The kitchen/living/dining space made sweet family memories. The view was beautiful through all weather, and the condition of the overall place was impeccably maintained and cleaner than almost any place I’ve ever been in. The hosts were easy and understanding when we had questions. We’d happily stay here again. Feels like being in a (very neat and tidy!) friend’s home.

This was our second time staying at this beautiful home. We enjoyed our stay so much last summer we brought my husband’s parents from the east coast back so we could show them the beauty of the San Juans and they fell in love too. The house has so many amenities and is so inviting. We enjoyed views and hanging out on the deck and at the fire pit the most! Looking forward to the next time we could return.

The property owners thought of everything. The kitchen was well appointed. The deck was just power washed and had comfortable deck furniture. The kayaks and paddle boards were easily assessed. Just 5 minutes from Roche Harbor resort pickleball courts which were just resurfaced in May 2025. There were just four adults and one canine kid. Thank you for sharing your retreat!

This is our second time at the property and really enjoyed it again. The spot is beautiful, the house is lovely, very well maintained and well equipped. When we had a door code issue, the owners were super responsive. We hope to be back again soon!

Our family had a blast in this gorgeous house on beautify Westcott Bay. We walked to Roche Harbor each day, but also enjoyed the lovely deck, kayaks, and well appointed kitchen.

We booked late and I was worried about not having a great choice - this house is awesome!! Great sized rooms, convenient bathrooms that are updated; perfect layout for everyone to hang out. The location is the best! Right up the hill from the sculpture garden, we should have planned more time there! Roche Harbor is a 2 min drive, we ate there twice at both restaurants and picked up coffee in the morning. 15 min drive into Friday Harbor, 10 mins to Lime Kiln. We saw otters and baby fox!! My only comment - and it did not bother us at all; is the spiral staircase to two of the bedrooms. Well stocked, good beds! Thanks!

Second time at this property and it certainly lived up to our wonderful memories. Relaxing mornings drinking coffee while the sun comes up over the bay. Fun days exploring island adventures nearby. Delicious food at Westcott Bay Shellfish. And restful and relaxing evenings by the fire in this beautiful home. We’ll certainly be back!

This wonderful vrbo did not disappoint! We were fortunate to have amazing fall weather in early October for our stay on San Juan Island. The view of the sunrise over the bay was a real treat. The house was impeccable, well stocked and very comfortable.

We were a group of women 65+ in age and we loved this beautiful home. Fortunately 2 of our group were spry enough to handle the spiral staircase.

Very comfortable for three generations; 20's through 70's. Absolutely beautiful deck for relaxing and enjoying sunrises and sunsets. We'd definitely choose this place again!!

We loved this little gem! The view from the deck was stunning. We enjoyed watching for wildlife. We saw cranes, a heron, a seal, deer and a frog. We enjoyed taking the paddle boards and a kayak out. We really had a great time. We’d love to return. The house was well equipped with everything you would need, including boots for the beach.

This lovely home is comfortable, well furnished, and has a great kitchen set up. We loved watching herons and seals on the water, along with a float plane landing. I wish we had more days here. The place is clean, has a well stocked kitchen, and an amazing view. I wish we had the time to bike and spend time on the water, but we didn't. We'll definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely book this house again if we return to San Juan Island. The house was well-stocked and comfortable. Everyone said their beds were comfortable, and the layout of the house works really well. Downstairs is the primary bedroom and the bunkroom, and there are two bedrooms and another bathroom upstairs. We really enjoyed hanging out on the deck and watching the wildlife - we saw eagles, herons, foxes, and deer. The deck is gated, so we were comfortable letting our dog hang out on the deck, knowing he couldn't escape to chase wildlife. Remember to bring bug spray; we forgot ours and we all had quite a few bug bites. One thing I really appreciate about this house is that there is only one tv in the family room. Our son has ADHD and we have to monitor his electronic usage, so not having tvs in the bedrooms helped with that. The house is in a great location near Roche Harbor Resort. It's a little bit away from the craziness of Friday Harbor, but close enough to a resort that there is plenty to do. You can get day passes to the resort's heated pool, which we did not end up doing, but it's nice to have that as an option. We did visit the dog park and the sculpture garden near the resort, and had dinner one night at one of the resort restaurants. The rest of the time we explored the many outdoor attractions - English Camp, American Camp, Lime Kiln State Park, and more. It was a splendid vacation!
