Stayed Jan 17, 2026Property was very nice. Unfortunately, there was no shovel provided in order to create a path to get to the hot tub due to heavy snow. The kitchen oven had issues with grease the bottom. There was no body soap for the shower and minimal towels provided. there were no fire starters provided for the wood-burning stove.

Stayed Dec 26, 2025The absolute perfect winter retreat! Beautiful quality furnishings, loads of games to engage with our kids over and many books to enjoy while cozying up in front of the wood burning stove. We loved having a soak in the outdoor hot tub after exploring the large property or fishing in the river. Sitting in the hot tub while the snow fell was so magical! The open layout and big windows were so nice for enjoying the beautiful winter weather from the warmth of the cabin. We enjoyed the fully equipped kitchen, making lots of delicious meals while enjoying the views! The beds were extremely cozy and kids loved the big log bunk beds! This property helped ground us and connect with our kids! So grateful and would love to go back!

Stayed Jul 11, 2025Upscale, well-stocked cabin with beautiful details, very nice kitchen appliances, roomy and cozy with comfortable furniture and beds, nice linens, great assortment of books and board games, ample parking. Big beautiful river deck is a short walk with quality outdoor furniture. We did not kayak from here but you could! We did not use the fire pit nor hot tub but nice amenities to offer. Easy to get to and centrally located for various activities. Very thoughtful hosts, provide an informative binder.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our stay at Trout Lily Cabin was wonderful! My husband and I wanted to go Up North for a little get-away to see the leaves change, and to adventure around the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. On our way in on Friday night we stopped at a fabulous Mexican restaurant near the cabin called Roadhouse Mexican Bar and Grill. Yum! -A bit of a foodie place, with a lovely outdoor bar area. We ate inside at the bar though because the place was full. Seems very popular! The cabin and property was even more beautiful than we expected. After our Saturday out hiking, beaching, and “scenic viewing,” we came home to the warm hot tub which was ready to go! Looking out from the hot tub a beautiful forest spralls out before your eyes. Inside, you see this same view from all of the main living spaces: the dining room, kitchen, and living room. After our soak, we walked across the lawn, through a short wooded trail, and down to the river with a couple of cocktails. There is a lovely deck and dock on the river with quality outdoor couches and chairs. Golden sun rays illuminated the sandy bottom of the shallow river, maybe 4 feet at the deepest here. The scenery was beautiful, and very private with a complete wooded area across the river as well. We talked about bringing our kayaks up the next time we come. It would be very easy to put them in the river here and kayak down to Lake Michigan. On our way back to the cottage we sat on the front porch for a while to enjoy this space before going out to dinner at The Manitou in between Beaulah and Frankfort. The food was fabulous, and wait staff were friendly and efficient. We chose to sit outside by the firepit, but you could easily make reservations and sit in the fancier dining rooms. There is also a fire pit outside the cabin and a wood burning stove inside, both very easy to use. And ample wood ready to use inside and outdoors. The TV works well and the living room furniture is quality and comfortable to lay around and read, talk and laugh! Our trip was a much needed getaway! Thank you to the owners for thinking of every little detail! Especially the clean and well appointed and updated kitchen area. So easy to cook and visit with people at the same time.
