20 minutes from downtown (Tennessee Aquarium Imax Theater, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Ruby Falls, Rock City, and so much more)

Get away from it all and still have high speed internet and multiple TVs

Spacious outdoor deck with refrigerator and sitting area right next to river, three comfortable decks off the back of the house (one screened in), plus a huge attached patio with a grill and dinning table for six, a floating dock for those who bring a boat, and both bedrooms and entertainment room and kitchen overlook the Tennessee River.

Just recently, renovations were made to the house that include updated bathrooms and kitchen, full paint job and new flooring in parts, and all new furniture. The key to this rental home is the setting, huge grass yard, pavilion and dock, fabulous views of the river and surrounding mountains, and tons of clean/renovated space for ten. And for full disclosure, we inspect the home inside and out just before any renters arrive, so the interior should be perfect, but there is a chance that our local spiders and bugs might build some webs in the interim so be ready to be away from the city and in nature.

This cabin comfortably sleeps ten (10), with 1 king sized bed in the master bedroom on the main level with a full bath and a bunk room off the bathroom for little ones (these twin beds are in the back closet of the bathroom and should not be considered for use with adults or anyone who wants their own bedroom...think of this as a pull out couch in the greatroom...doesn't apply to everyone, but can be very useful for some), one (1) queen sized bed with it's own bathroom, and (2) twins in another bedroom upstairs (you have to go through this bedroom to get to the master....a weird layout...we agree)as well as one (1) queen sized bed with a full kitchen and bathroom in a large TV/game room with games and a pool table (all downstairs with it's own entrance).

There are two fireplaces inside the home, but they are now decorative and do not burn wood or gas logs. There is an outdoor fire area on the patio, but the indoor fireplaces do not function.

Maximum occupancy at all times is 10 people.

This property is about 12 miles from downtown, but sometimes feels further because of the slow, narrow, winding river road. The view is fantastic however, and provides a wonderful way to slow down from hectic daily life!

Swimming: The home is on the Tennessee River which is an active river with water flow. The ability to swim in front of the house depends on the amount of water flow the dam upstream is releasing. There is also a shallow cut out area downstream from the dock that allows you to get in and out easy (yes, it is muddy as it is a riverbed), but it is very gradual. I would equate the question of age and ability to swim as I would to swimming in the ocean. If there are huge waves and an undercurrent, you know to stay near the shore. If there is a lot of water flow in front of the dock, I would stay near the shore. Most of the time, it is safe for swimmers to swim off the dock and off the shore, but of course, you need to look at conditions and use your best judgement.

Dock: The home has a nice dock that will hold up to a 20 foot boat easily. There are boat rental places around (as of this message, Hales Bar Marina Rents them as well as a place on Suck Creek Road (just Google Boat rentals in Chattanooga and make sure they are on the river). Also, Jesse, with River Gorge Excursions (www.rivergorgeexcursions.com) will give $20 discount if you enter vacation at checkout. Gas is either in Chattanooga or Hales Bar so keep that in mind. You are more than welcome to bring your boat (and that is one of the benefits of this home with a large covered dock), but as I said, keep fuel replenishment in the back of our mind. There is a nice long boat put in on the way to the home if you are coming from Chattanooga. There is plenty of room to store the trailer at the house, but it is a tight and winding road to get there, so be careful make sure you know how to pull a trailer if you bring it to the house.

Grill and firewood (for the outdoor fireplace only): There is a charcoal grill on property. We have provided charcoal and firewood in the past, but some renters use it all up before we can restock, so please bring your own. If that is a challenge, let me know and I will see if we can ensure there is some for your stay.

Bugs/snakes/critters/spiderwebs: I want to be very clear on this. We are obsessive about providing an extremely clean property, but this home is on the river and is out in nature, so if you see some of nature, please know that we have done our best. The home is on the river and basically surrounded by woods, so there will be spider webs and water bugs and other things found in nature. We spray all the time for bugs, and we get rid of spider webs before each guest, but they do come back. Also, if lights are left on outside next to the river, you will have a ton of waterbugs show up. If the inside has issues with any bugs, it is on us, if it is outside, then it is a gift from Him. THERE IS A LARGE CHANCE THAT YOU WILL SEE BUGS AND SPIDERWEBS OUTSIDE, ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER....AGAIN, YOU MOST LIKELY WILL SEE BUGS AND SPIDERWEBS OUTSIDE DURING YOUR STAY. WE CANNOT STOP NATURE

The Chattanooga, TN-GA Metropolitan Area, is an area consisting of six counties – three in southeast Tennessee (Hamilton, Marion, and Sequatchie) and three in northwest Georgia (Catoosa, Dade, and Walker) – anchored by the city of Chattanooga.

It was a wonderful place surrounded by nature. But I think the room should be cleaned more carefully. I was touched and then disappointed.

We absolutely LOVED this place! The things that they provide for you is next level! Soaps, shampoos, conditioners, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, candles, coffee, creamers, a cabinet full of seasonings, paper towels, garbage bags, toilet paper, fishing poles, lures, kayaks, a canoe, firewood, charcoal.. I’ve stayed at a lot of places and this was truly impressive! Their kitchen is well stocked BUT if you have a large family and will need a large pot to cook in.. I would bring one. The location is amazing! The basement/game room is super cool and perfect for family fun.. there’s something for every age group in there! We will definitely return!

We loved this home! The basement was cold but we all just wore our jackets so we could play all the cool games that were there. Having the river and dock was so nice. I do wish there was more seating in the living room area. Several of the stools were broken and not safe to sit in. I would stay here again!

We enjoyed our peace and quiet. However, it was a little weird having to go through one bedroom to access the master bedroom, but we made it work. I felt the house could’ve been cleaner. The basics were clean, bath, etc. The sheets did not fit the beds properly, wouldn’t stay in place. Definitely could have used better pillows, these were totally flat. The towels and was cloths were old and had strings hanging. I would expect better quality. The garbage can in the kitchen was gross. Filthy with old food stuck all over lid. A lot of spider webs on the porch especially, some in the house but to be expected in the woods. The property was beautiful. These were just small things we noticed overall we had a great, relaxing, and peaceful time what we aimed for.

I'll try not to write a book. This place was a dream to stay at. But there is no drinking and driving, the road to this oasis is butt clenching, drive slow. There were just as many curves in the house, it was AWESOME. The place was fully stocked with anything and everything. You just have to bring food...and bring food! You'll not want to leave!! The game room was a blast and stocked with more games and activities the kids could play with, but they tried. Yes, you are in the mountains and bugs are present, but squash em and move on. It really wasnt bad. The views, OMG, spectacular! The host was always available and making sure nothing was needed. They provide rafts and canoes and fire wood. Literally, EVERY THING. Absolutely would stay here again if I found myself out that way again!! The husband stayed fishing!! The barges came through and that was so cool!! But the morning view from the master bed....I know babies have been made in that room!!! Stunning!!!

Our whole family loved it! It is not a cookie cutter boring house - it was spectacular! You could see the history of the house, the outdoor space was wonderful, the views were incredible!!! The kitchen layout was interesting, but everything you need to cook was there, including a variety of spices! All the bathrooms worked (that's really important) and there was plenty of parking. I'd stay there again! How often do you get to see a boat like this go by your window?!

This place was amazing for our family vacation! There was my son and his wife, my daughter and her husband and my 2 yr. old grandson plus my husband and I and it was more than enough room for everyone. The host sent a message to say we could check in early, which was a blessing after driving 5 hours. They provided and thought of everything necessary to make this an easy and enjoyable stay. From kayaks, fishing poles, games, down to paper towels and and firewood for the fire pit. My kids said several times, I did a great job picking a place to stay. Yes, there was cobwebs, but they are on the outside of the screen porch, what do you do? Didn't bother us though. It was nice to go out on the deck every morning, drink a cup of coffee and watch the kayaks, barges, and anything else floating by. The entire place was clean and inviting. Plus, you don't even have to wash the linens and towels before you leave! That was so nice. It may not be the best for the elderly since there are rock stairs to go up and down to get to the river, but my family thought that was one of the best parts. It gave the place so much character. None of us wanted to leave! We would absolutely stay here again!!

The add was no lie when they said there would be cobwebs. The owner should have them cleaned and get a pest service in to keep it in shape. There should be a note that the stone steps are not for the elderly at all. They are fairly treacherous. Canoes and kayaks should be down at the water for easy usage and locked up with a key in the house. It is a pleasant location however I would say the the men I stayed with said their wives would not stay there.

The description makes it very clear about cob webs and it’s in wooded area. I too live in the country and we are use to cobwebs and insects. BUT these cob webs here are from years. As if someone gave up cleaning outside and just have the statement on the description to get away with it. The space in the house in amazing. Very spacious! Kitchen floor was sticky and a handful of old cobwebs inside. Having to clean off the swing on the porch wasn’t worth it.Having to clean off the chairs on the porch wasn’t worth it— it’s our vacation!Game room was very enjoyable!!We had some issue inside- super quick to help and very nice. If the owners would take a day and bring a power wash machine and knock off the years old cobwebs; then it would be really amazing. My husband is an out door man. He was disgusted by the outside. He said he would never rent this home to anyone. He would be embarrassed. The scenery and view and rive allowed me to look pass it. I would have enjoyed the porches more but again I didn’t want to spend my time cleaning.Time Zone became a joke we laughed about while there. Our phones and watches were all different; the fridge says they are in central and to follow the clocks in the house- but all the clocks in the house were set on eastern— just became a funny joke til the end. We left way before check out so it didn’t matter to us.Also side note to the owners big hawks have made your bottom porch facing the river there hang out space major bird waste all over

My son fished the river every day and caught the biggest fish he's ever caught! (About a 40 pound blue catfish!)It was close to all the things we wanted to see and do. The host was very responsive and took care of any issues right away.

This house is very special! As other reviewers noted, you definitely should be OK with cobwebs and some wildlife. As long as you’re good with that, this house is gorgeous, better than described, even on the listing, full personality, and the dock access to the river is great. Our family hopes to return. We brought a pop-up sunshade so we could move shade with us to all the different outdoor sitting areas. And there are kayaks we were free to use as well!

The house and property were very comfortable. We felt that the living room area needed more seating for larger groups. Although most of us were not concerned about the connecting bedrooms, some were uncomfortable with the lack of privacy. We appreciated the clarity of description of the bunk beds as more for children, although adults could have slept there . We loved the view! and the porches!! We suggest screening the master bedroom porch and connecting porches to accommodate more seating. We noticed all the clean new cushions. The level grassy area was wonderful for games. The dock is great. thank you .

This is the 3rd VRBO I've stayed at on River Canyon Rd in Chattanooga. It's a personal favorite for my family - the river is fantastic, it's quiet, and the rentals we choose always have kayaks, canoes and plenty of outdoor toys to play with. However, this is the worst VRBO I've ever stayed at. Beyond the dirtiness and the layout issues - the well water is infected with hydrogen sulfide and the water smells like rotten eggs. The smell fills the room whenever you turn the water on and lingers for hours. I brought this up to the owner who simply replied It’s on a well/filter system. The water runs through an elaborate system but it will sometimes have a sulfur smell. (Anyone is free to google this - the water SHOULD NOT smell like rotten eggs - you just need a better filter). If you don't believe me - search the reviews of this place, there are multiple, spanning years, that mention the odor. I believe the oder comes and goes based on certain conditions. We booked the trip for four days but ultimately we left after two, booking a place down the street. My wife and children simply refused to live with the smell any longer. It even took a few showers to wash the smell out of our hair. I requested through VRBO that Bradley refund us for the days we weren't there and he refused, saying that he had the filter looked at and it is fine. So buyer beware - if you get there on a bad day and the house is uninhabitable, you've got to live with it.

Overall enjoyable experience with the highlights being the view of the river and bluff from the decks. Bradley was very prompt at responding to messages which is always appreciated. There are lots of sleeping spaces in this house! The only drawback is that 3 of the bedrooms are connected so privacy may be an issue depending on the nature of your group. The kitchen is very well stocked which we enjoyed and appreciated. The outdoor spaces are also great but unfortunately it was a little cool and rainy so we were indoors a lot. There isn’t a lot of seating if you want to watch movies (or football) but we were able to make it work by pulling chairs into the living room. Finally, if you’re looking for a place to walk or hike, there are a number of places nearby but the road itself isn’t ideal because it’s narrow and windy - and there a lot of neighborhood dogs running loose.

The property itself is gorgeous. The view is spectacular, and it feels very private and peaceful! I loved this part of it for sure. The house itself has some interesting aspects. The views from the master are wonderful, and we enjoyed the screened in porch. All in all, this house did not meet our needs well though. We had 6 adults, and we very much wanted to spend time together and the living area and eating area did not fit all of us. Both areas are set up for four people max, and we had six. The only table that fit six was outside in the elements. We ate there one night, but it was very hot, and very buggy. We couldn’t all sit together and play games either. The inside seating is stools for four, and two can sit at the peninsula, but you aren’t all around a table. Also, the screened porch was nice to have, but it was small and had only comfortable seating for four, the rest were stools. They provide kayaks which was very nice, but there was no seating down at the doc area. There is a fire pit with no seating and an old outdoor fireplace, but the seating is at a patio below it which is a table and chairs. There are lots of spiders and spider webs everywhere. The jets on the tub didn’t work, and the water smelled just awful. I believe there must be a great deal of sulfur in Thankfully they have filtered water to drink. The master bed and the other full bed were horribly squeaky each time you moved, not allowing for good sleep. Definitely room for improvement.
