"The Retreat to the Enchanted Forest" is a spacious, mountain home offering panoramic views South of the City of Denver, as well as, the surrounding foothills. Located on top of Lookout Mountain, in Golden Colorado, this 4 level home offers plenty of space for the guest to stay, but cozy and serine to enjoy the family gathering.
This home is directly adjacent to the APEX Trail system. A 700 acre refuge managed by Jefferson County. Here with over 10 miles of trails you can hike and see the stunning views the foothills have to offer.
There is a separate living area that is occupied on property but you will have the main house all to yourselves.
You will love the fully-equipped kitchen! Plenty of space to prepare a meal from simple to gourmet. There is a BBQ grill on the back deck.
Relax upstairs in front of the two gas-burning fireplaces or downstairs in the indoor hot tub - perfect for chilly evenings together. The down stairs has a hot tub that holds 4 people, as well as, a ping pong table. Great for family tournaments. Don't forget about the second and third levels that have 3 bedrooms and separate balconies that offer incredible views of Denver.
Don’t want to be inside Perfect!. Hiking & cycling (road & mountain) – are incredible & easily accessible. Bring your hiking boots! The Enchanted Forest Trail abuts this home's property. It is a wonderful place to take a walk in the morning or at dusk, when you are most likely to run into our most populous neighbors - the elk, deer, turkeys & the occasional red fox. They're beautiful, majestic & look harmless. But it's not advisable to try to pet or feed them.
Historic downtown Golden is a quick drive from the house. Settled in 1859, it retains much of its old west charm. Dining options are a plenty as well as wonderful & unique shopping, music, galleries, & nightlife.
Interstate 70 is a 3 minute drive from the Retreat and it offers a short drive to Denver, Evergreen, and Idaho Springs.
Mount Evans is a short drive away – Hike a 14-er (or drive up North America's highest paved road!), rock climb, ice climb, or just enjoy the alpine beauty.
Red Rocks Amphitheater is 10 minute way. Besides being a great concert venue, it's gorgeous, & ideal for hiking.
Please know that traveling in Colorado in the months of November through April, you will need a 4 wheel or all wheel drive (AWD) vehicle. Please do not drive to the Retreat at the Enchanted Forest without the proper automobile.

This place was a gem. I have almost no complaints besides the fact that the hot tub did not warm up one night, the ping pong area felt sketchy at first, and the biggest TV does not function without an HDMI cord. However, Brian came over within an hour of me communicating with him and helped set the hot up for the next day, which was nice. The ping pong honestly was just fine and still playable. The ground did not feel stable, but after attempting it, it actually was fine. I played with my wife for 30 minutes and had a good time. And the TV downstairs could work with an HDMI, so not a hard fix. It would be nice if that was automatically included, though. We saw deer and elk outside the house, which was lovely. The showers worked well, and the beds were comfortable. There is also plenty of room for big hangouts. It was all quite nice. This place is not cheap by any means (but also not the most expensive), but it is worth considering for those who can afford it because the experience is great.
Description and pics were spot on. Views were better than advertised for sunrise. Just keep in mind no AC here
My girlfriend and I took our mothers to Red Rocks to watch Dirty Heads. We really enjoyed the property especially the decks and hot tube. Easy check in and check out process and great communication with Bryan. Thanks again for making our trip enjoyable.
Nice location that is close to downtown Golden and many other attractions. Elk, turkey and deer all frequent the neighborhood. A nice getaway from life in a metro.
Excellent location for a Red Rocks show, and beautiful views.
I'm giving this 4 stars, because the location was amazing. If you're seeing a show at Red Rocks and visiting Mt. Evans, this house is incredibly convenient. We also loved the town of Golden. We ate at delicious restaurants and visited fun breweries. The house is extremely outdated though and very hot inside without A/C. Also not sure why the listing says 4 cars could park here. There's a no parking sign in front of the garage, which leaves you with minimal space. If you're traveling here with a group just keep that in mind. We did hear and see the tenant in the occupied apartment, but that wasn't a problem. It's an interesting house that could be so amazing with updates.
Our stay was very good. Didn’t have air conditioning - and we learned our lesson there. Tho it did cool off at night, it would get quite warm and stuffy inside during the day. Some windows didn’t have screens so couldn’t be opened. Not much air flow even with fans in every bedroom. House was clean - in fact we had to wait an extra hour for the cleaning to be completed. But there was a musty odor in the lower level. We didn’t utilize the hot tub and ping pong table, but that was a nice option to have. Beds were very comfortable. The step down tub/shower is a bit of a liability in my opinion. Wouldn’t want someone to slip on wet tile! Porch swing was broken, not many outside chairs and several deck boards were loose and need some attention. The location was great for visiting many of the surrounding areas - including Red Rocks for a concert. House was also stocked well and had plenty of linens and soap/shampoo etc in bathrooms. Overall we enjoyed our stay - but in the heat of summer would definitely look for airconditioning in the future.
For a long weekend, including a trip to Red Rocks, this was the perfect location. Minutes to many parks, hiking, resources in Golden etc. Quiet neighborhood and wonderful views from the deck. The home is definitely dated (not reflected in photos) but comfortable and clean.
This property was a convenient location to all - Red Rocks, Golden, Rocky Mountain park. House had all the space we needed. Kitchen well stocked. Ping pong table was fun. Enjoyed seeing the deer in the yard nearly every day, occasional elk walking by and even a fox in the neighborhood!
Location is fantastic for a wonderfully quiet location. Close to hiking. Yes, the house has a bit of a water pressure problem, but all 5 of us did just fine. I absolutely loved the location. So quiet. The house offers nice little amenities that we were appreciative for (chapstick for one!). Rustic, quiet, comfortable, with a beautiful view of the city light, or the woods. Whichever way you’d like to face on the porch.
