Frankfort, Michigan
The Restoration Cottage is a cute little cottage near downtown Frankfort just 7 blocks from Lake Michigan and Frankfort Beach. It features a newly expanded outdoor deck with new year-round private hot tub / spa, outdoor gas grill, outdoor dining, bonfire ring, and fully-fenced in backyard. It's also dog-friendly! The location and layout makes for a great romantic getaway destination for couples or a cozy home away from home for individuals or small families.
1) The property is quite close to the road (7th Street, which is part of M22 as it goes through Frankfort). There is a fair amount of traffic and road noise, particularly due to fairly high traffic in the summer and snowplows in the winter. If you are sensitive to road noise, this might not be a good fit.
2) There is an abandoned home to the west of the property. There are no safety concerns associated with this, but it does look quite ugly. This shouldn't be a big issue, but we do want to have people aware of this.
3) The hot tub is available for use year-round and is great in the winter!
4) The home does not have air conditioning, but air conditioning is generally not need in Frankfort given the latitude of the city and the cooling waters of Lake Michigan on which the town is located. There are ceiling fans and pedestal fans in the cottage if needed though.
5) The home is dog-friendly and up to 2 dogs are allowed. Pets other than dogs are not permitted. If bringing 1 or 2 dogs, please include them on the reservation so that the pet fee is properly applied.
6) This property means a great deal to our family. The name "Restoration Cottage" not only refers to the physical restoration of the property that we have pursued, but it also refers to the restoration of our family that took place when we came back together as a family of four in October, 2017, after having been separated for 4 years and 8 months. It was a great healing environment for our family! We then moved to a larger home in August, 2019, but this home will always have great memories for us and we hope and pray that it helps to bless and restore other relationships as well! :-)
Our local property manager lives nearby and is available to address any issues that may occur.
The cottage is located in the downtown residential portion of Frankfort. It is basically right in the heart of town! It's just one block from Main Street and downtown Frankfort, which has a vibrant and growing array of restaurants, cafes, shops, banks, a couple gas stations, a post office, a grocery store, a microbrewery, and a historic theater. It is also just 7 blocks (about 0.6 miles) from Lake Michigan, beautiful Frankfort Beach, and Frankfort's famous historic pier and lighthouse. The cottage is also only about a 15-minute drive from the start of the incredible Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore!
The second floor is locked off for further renovation work and is not included with the rental. Similarly, there is a 4-season breakfast room off the kitchen that has not been renovated and is currently just used as storage space. The basement is locked off and is not for use by guests.
The home has been partially renovated since we purchased it in November, 2013. Inside, the kitchen and bathroom been recently updated, the hardwood floors have been refinished throughout, and the interior has been recently painted. The interior has a fun, colorful, and beachy theme throughout the house.
Outside, the deck has been expanded and painted, a new hot tub / spa was added, the entire backyard was landscaped and fully fenced-in, and the outdoor bonfire ring was added. Note that all of the outdoor amenities (including the hot tub) are available for use all year-round!
It is suggested that guests have their own means of transportation.
We had a great time at the cottage. Fantastic location.
This property was perfect for a quick weekend winter wonderland getaway. So close to Crystal Mtn ski resort and the beach. Great breakfast places within walking distance. The hot tub under the snowfall was wonderful.
Beautifully set up home. Nice and clean. Perfect for an anniversary get away but easily could be used for a week of family fun. Wonderful and fun art work. The house felt bigger than what I expected from the photos. The hot tub was incredible, we definitely were able to relax. Thank you Restoration Cottage!
The house is close to downtown. There is noise from loud vehicles that are using M22. However it’s one or two vehicles that don’t have proper mufflers on their exhaust. No fault of the place. We enjoyed the hot tub.
Cute little cottage that was walking to distance to downtown/beach area. Everything was as described in the listing. We found the hot tub to be nice and clean. The only negative that I can say is that it had not been cleaned yet when we checked in, due to some sort miscommunication with cleaner, I believe. It was left in good condition by the previous guests, but obviously we needed bedding, clean towels, etc. We left and and walked around while we waited for it to be cleaned, so we didn't actually get in until around 5:30 pm. It was a bit frustrating, but given the circumstances, it was handled promptly.
Ok I am not a complainer by no means and we have been very happy with this site in the past but this one needs a wake up call! First of all the home is sweet but the road traffic is brutal! Which you can not open the windows because of that plus no screens to do that and the windows have not been washed in who knows when! So the back slider is your air which was constantly falling off the track and hubby had to put it up se real times! Pair off dirty socks on the deck under the two feet of leaves we had to sweep off to sit at table. We opened the hot tub ready to hop in and there were leaves in that the filter full of hair and a ring around the whole thing on top of that a water bottle top floating in it from the last people there clearly not cleaned after them. So we cleaned the scum and soap ring ph tested it but a constant foam all the while we were there never went away after constantly straining it out! Showered after each time we visited it! The power lines were hanging over the whole back yard and over hot tub you could reach up and touch them very sketchy crap there. Shower door soap scum, for a new restored home it was not up to standards and not to sure it’s safe!! The bedroom sits on the road which we read there was noice from traffic but wow it’s sit at a intersection where you hear everyone one stop and start back up again constantly. We finally had to blow up the blow up bed and crash Kuhn the living room with tv on for noise filter, running out of room, much mo
