One thing we loved about this house while living there is to be able to look at the beautiful sky at night with the moon and stars. Our neighbors are quiet and you and be able to enjoy this night time scene. Also, we enjoyed watching the cows across the road from the front of our house, plus deer grazing in the pasture, and other wildlife such as ducks, rabbits, squirrels, etc.
At the back of the house, we have a nice deck with outdoor tables and chairs for 8 people. If you need more, just let us know before you arrival. Also, there is a grill to use and a Fire Pit to Roast Marshmallows or just enjoy the fire in the spring or fall time of the year. If you need wood, you can either bring your own or purchase it at several stores near Abingdon, Va.
About a mile from the vacation house is located a branch of the Holston River. If you like to kayak or fish, this is a nice place to be able to do either one. If you do not live in Virginia, you will need to purchase a Virginia fishing license. The famous Creeper Trail is located about a 10 minute drive from the vacation house. There are a lot of different places to visit and great restaurants in Abingdon, Va. Just google what you are interested in doing while visiting the area and you can find the location of the place you would like to visit. We love the mountains and that is why we are living in this area. The house is located very close to Tenn., N.C., and West Virginia. You can be in Tenn. in about 15 minutes from the vacation house. N.C. and West Virginia are about 1 1/2 hour drive.
The neighbors who live on either side of the property are very nice people and if you need help, they will be glad to help you. We usually are home most of the time and live only about 1/2 mile from the house. I have on the site, once you have booked, our telephone numbers, which you can call night or day.
If you have any more questions, just send us a message and we will be most happy to answer your questions about the house or the area where we are located.
Hope you will come and visit us soon.
Your Hosts,
Fred & Carol Kaurish
P.S. I (Carol) grew up in this area and Fred has lived here about 50 years, so he know the area well also.
Meadowview property was all we could have wanted! Plenty of space for all of us. Very clean and mostly quiet. Close enough for the NASCAR races and perfect for biking the Creeper trail. Hosts very accommodating and southern friendly. Would recommend, and plan to go back again.
Loved the area for hiking and biking - good restaurants in Abington (and at least 1 in Damascus). We were at the house for breakfast and a couple of dinners - the house is not updated but in good shape for its age. What we needed for the meals we prepared were supplied - the kitchen is small but has lots of cabinet space and reasonable counter space. One of 2 full baths was really small and the other one had plenty of room (it doubled as a laundry room). Both baths are side by side and right by 2 bedrooms on that side of the house. Bathroom access from other 2 bedrooms required passing thru the dining room and kitchen. If you like watching TV the smart TV is really good! We tried out the fire pit one night and it was great - we took porch chairs and set them on a grassed, lightly sloped area around the fire pit. A neighbor evidently has firewood to sell but, being more spur of the moment planners, there had been some recent tree work done so there was a good bit of wood close by to gather. I would suggest arranging to have some firewood. If you visit in cold weather the 2 bedrooms near the bathroom get a good bit colder than the rest of the house but there are plenty of covers to stay warm. All in all a nice stay for 4.
This property was the perfect fit for our group of two families with small children visiting for a wedding. The house was clean and had thoughtfully labeled directions throughout and the hosts were so kind and available for any needs during our stay. Thanks for a great stay!
It worked very well to stay at Carol and Fred’s place so we could see the Great Channels with our international guest! We made our breakfasts and supper in their well outfitted kitchen and found everything we needed for a lovely weekend!
This was a great option for our girls trip that included 8 friends. We enjoyed the VA Creeper trail, did some hiking, then sat around the fire in the back yard fire pit. It was very convenient to Abington and Damascus. Great memories of a great trip!
We had plenty of room and enjoyed the fire pit one night.
This house has many steps to get into it and maneuver around it. There are handrails, but you rent this property at your risk if your mobility issues are serious. Otherwise, it's an excellent property.
This house is situated in a beautiful setting and has absolutely everything you need. It was very clean and spacious. We loved sitting out on the back deck any chance we could! Both the house and property are very well maintained. We came down here for a baseball tournament with an open-ended check out date. Of course it was dependent upon how we did in the tournament. Mr. & Mrs. Kaurish are the best communicators and hosts we have ever had the pleasure of booking with. They went above and beyond to work with us; all while making us feel welcome and cheering on our son! They accommodated us more than we could have ever expected. If you’re looking for a charming home in a beautiful setting with fabulous hosts…. Look no further!
Nice country house. It was perfect for us as we needed to be at E&H college for the week. I worked most days from the house. Family, was out from very early to late. Will definitely consider going back if we ever go back to that part of the world.
We had no power for the first 11 hours of our stay. Unable to shower or use the restroom. The owners came by and gave us oil lamps which gave all of us headaches from the fumes. The owners were completely unresponsive when asked about the WIFI password. We messaged and called them multiple times with no response. They said it was in the rental house, and when I asked them what the password was she said the paper that it was on was stolen and she would come by the next morning and post it on the front door but she never did. The listing said they had firewood available, but upon arrival there was none, which is false advertising. Overall, there was no compensation provided for our stay and there was no communication by the host. Terrible experience!
Enjoyed our time. Soaked up have kiddos under one roof.
Carol was so kind! My sister and I are in our later years and we were having a hard time finding the property. Carol was very kind and stayed on the phone until we got there. It turned out that one of the road signs had a branch covering the name. The property is in a beautiful spot! We enjoyed our stay!
Had a very nice stay in Virginia with my family. The home was set up great, the bathrooms were very clean and stocked with towels and washcloths. Simple check-in and out instructions and such a nice host. And the home was so spacious, giving all 7 of us our own space + roasting marshmallows in the backyard fire-pit we couldn't have asked for more. Thanks!
We had the best stay! The house was very clean with a ton of bedrooms! It was the perfect set up for families. When the power went out one night I called Carol and she immediately answered and checked with the power company then offered to bring lighting to us until the power came back on. You have everything you need in the home. Plenty of towels and blankets. We loved our stay and appreciated Carol’s kindness so much. We will definitely be visiting again!
Loved the amount of beds and bedrooms. Enjoyed the fire pit. Had to buy own wood bundle. Small kitchen, especially with 6 women. Odd bathroom situation, but thankful for 2 full baths. Pretty, spacious property. Beautiful view. Cows were a hoot!
Overall, we had a great time at this property. The kitchen was a bit tight and lacked sharp knives. The beds were comfy. We enjoyed the views and moos of the cows!
my family and I had a really nice stay, close to the VCT as well as Abingdon. Thank you
Meadowview was the perfect home and location for our family stay. I met up with my daughter and her family (which include her 7 children) to attend my cousin's wedding. The kitchen had all we needed for cooking for a large group and we could seat everyone easily both inside and outside. The bedrooms slept everyone perfectly. The house (both the inside and outside) exceeded our expectations. Fred and Carol were the ultimate host and hostess---very responsive, friendly, and gracious. We would stay there again if we are back in the area. 5 Stars!
The four bedrooms and two living/family room areas worked great for our group. The home was situated nicely between Abingdon and Damascus which was great for us because we had planned activities in both locations.
It was just what we needed. By the Creeper Trail, the AT, and great local restaurants.
