Rare True Beachfront Estate in Tamarindo | Private Yard, Pool, Estuary & National Park Views

One of the only true beachfront homes in Tamarindo with a large private yard, pool, and protected estuary and national park views — all within walking distance to town.

Wake up to the sound of the ocean, walk barefoot across your own beachfront yard, and end the day watching the sunset from the fire pit just steps from the sand.

Unlike condos or homes set behind roads, this is a direct beachfront property on one of the few remaining original oceanfront parcels in Tamarindo.

⭐ Ideal for families
⭐ Perfect for multi-generational travel
⭐ Designed for groups who want space, privacy, and outdoor living
⭐ Each bedroom includes its own private bathroom for comfort and privacy — a rare feature in Tamarindo rentals

Guests often book for the rare location — and return for the feeling of space, nature, and connection that’s becoming harder to find in Tamarindo.

⭐ What Makes This Home Special

• True beachfront — no roads to cross on the way to the sand
• One of only a handful of beachfront homes in Tamarindo with a pool and large private yard
• Set between Las Baulas National Park and the Tamarindo Estuary for protected views and privacy
• Ocean, estuary, and sunset views
• Pool, fire pit, outdoor rancho with BBQ, and sunbathing deck
• Dedicated wellness area in the yard for yoga or meditation
• Oceanfront pool shared only with registered guests on the property (never public)
• Walkable to town, restaurants, grocery store, and shops
• Peaceful, private setting rarely found this close to town
• Night guard during peak season (December–March) for added peace of mind

Designed for comfort, connection, and gathering, this home is ideal for families, groups, and guests who value experience over trends. Many guests enjoy frequent sightings of monkeys, iguanas, and tropical birds throughout the gardens and surrounding nature.

⭐ Ideal for Multi-Generational & Shared Travel

One of the most valued features of La Choza del Estero is the option to include a separate, independent beachfront apartment (La Chozita).

This setup is perfect for grandparents, older guests who prefer fewer stairs, or friends traveling together who want their own private space — while still being just steps away from the main house and shared outdoor areas.

Families love being together during the day, then enjoying privacy and quiet in the evenings, all within the same beachfront property.

The apartment can be rented on its own or combined with the main house for larger group stays.

A Special Piece of Tamarindo’s Surf History

Long before Tamarindo became an international destination, it was a quiet surf town — and surfing is what put it on the map.

This home sits on the original stretch of beachfront made famous by The Endless Summer II, where the film’s iconic airplane landing introduced Tamarindo to the global surf community. Today, guests still paddle out just steps from the house, sharing the same waves that helped shape this coastline’s legacy.

Even if you don’t surf, there’s something special about staying in a place where ocean, nature, and history intersect — where mornings begin with waves breaking offshore and sunsets feel timeless.

If we could, we would give this home, property and owners a TWENTY STAR!!! Immaculate and perfect location to the estuary and ocean. One could not ask for more. The rooms each had their own bathroom which allowed for privacy for our family of 11. The outdoor kitchen and eating area with pergola was a perfect gathering place for our shared meals. We had three young children, and they were welcomed! The pool was perfect and very clean. At night being able to have a place for a cozy fire and conversation made it all more special. There were several restaurants within walking distance, but you are not in the crazy downtown area, which was perfect! We rented a golf cart, which would be all you would ever need in Tamarindo. The outdoor shower was so helpful. Toni answered every question immediately! The owner, Miguel (spelling?) lives nearby and was the most welcoming host we have ever had in over 20 years of using rentals. My family thanks you!!!

Difficult to find off of the main road, but once we found it it was a great location for us. We walked 8 minutes down the beach every morning and evening to play volleyball at the courts. This was super special for our group. The house is Next door to Pengas beach club, the best restaurant in town!!!! Nearly every morning the howler Monkeys made their way through our back yard around 630 am !!! That was the coolest experience. The only complaints we have are the smells of the kitchen, which is veryyyyy small and was not ideal to be in. The water pressure is very low, and the close proximity to the main road can keep you up at night because of how loud it is when trucks drive by. Overall it’s a fair price and great location in tamarindo.

The views and gardens of the property were amazing, the access to the beach and the river were great and we have so much fun in a quiet spaces sharing with nature. If somebody like Thai cooking there is a tree of kefir lime on the property. They took care of us getting kayaks ready, fire pit and wood ready and we enjoy all this property has to offer, we are planning on making this a regular stop on our future visits

We made plans to come down for a long weekend with friends and Tamarindo did not disappoint. The only set plans we made was the Vrbo reservation and a fishing charter for one day. Toni met us at the house and showed us around. The views are incredible from the backyard. On the first day we took an estuary charter with some of the locals that are around the corner. Everything you need is right there. We chose to walk everywhere but you could very easily rent a golf cart or car. We will definitely be coming back!

Loved it! If you are looking for something the opposite of a resort, this is it. The backyard garden is amazing. Views up the river and of the rivermouth and ocean. Lots of trees and a well maintained garden. We had monkeys in the yard most days, as well as iguana, parakeets, green parrots and other birds. Sitting in the yard in the morning was my favorite part of the stay. It is an easy walk along the beach to all the great restaurants. Host was responsive. Housekeeping twice during week. What you need to know before you rent this place:- There is only AC in the bedrooms, not in the common areas/kitchen.- The kitchen is small, ceiling is low, had to duck under beams in the kitchen. No AC in kitchen, foods on counter spoil fast. If you are a group that likes to cook meals where you stay, this may not be the place.-The house sits just off the main road coming into Tama and the truck noise in the morning is very loud. Some rooms were worse than others.- One room had a family of small land crabs living in a bathroom. They don't bother you, but can surprise you when you enter.- Wildlife in the backyard means wildlife excrement. Monkeys in trees above you may deficate or urinate. We had monkey crap on our car several days and almost got bombed a couple of times sitting around the firepit.- The family that owns the house lives on the adjacent property and they use the driveway/gate. They were nice, no issues.I will return. The Costa Rica experience I wanted!

This is an amazing property in the perfect location. The garden that surrounds the house is so beautiful and you are literally right on the beach within walking distance of dozens of restaurants and shops. We saw (and heard) howler monkeys right in the backyard. If you’re staying over a Saturday there is a charming open market in town. We can’t recommend this property enough. I will say we have three older kids - there is no indoor common area - which was fine for us as we spent all of our time outdoors. But each room is an individual room with a separate locked door - which might be a challenge for families with younger children. That being said we would stay at this property anytime we returned to Tamarindo. Toni was amazing to work with and helped us book activities. The horseback riding she booked for us arrived with the horses on the beach outside the gate to the property. Pretty magical experience. We are so thankful! Pura Vida.

We were struck by the beauty of the outdoor spaces at La Choza del Estero. All of the seating areas were very welcoming - all 10 members of my family loved congregating under the pagoda or on the adirondack chairs that surround the fire pit. We were able to watch the howler monkeys and the iguanas climb the trees in the garden - it was so relaxing and entertaining! The bedrooms were very comfortable. We all slept very well and enjoyed the coolness that the AC provided when a short reprieve from the midday heat was in order. The housekeeper was available nearly every day with clean towels, trash removal and laundry services if desired. We took advantage of that service on two different days. The hosts were also exceedingly responsive to our suggestions. We suggested the addition of some kitchen items and, to our surprise, the host acquired many of those items the next day. It is easy to walk to everything that Tamarindo has to offer from this house. We had initially considered renting a golf cart but it really wasn't necessary and I'm glad we didn't. There are plenty of small shops and cafes to see and stop in if you're on foot. Conversely, walking on the beach is always an amazing option.... Thank you Mary and Miguel!

Our group of 11 had a wonderful stay. Mary and her family were excellent hosts responding quickly to every request. The house has beautiful grounds and a quiet beach out front near the estuary that includes a beautiful spot to watch the sunset. You are also just a few minutes walk from all the action on the beach along with local bars and restaurants. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Costa Rica!

The property was wonderful and Mary and her family were very accommodating. The house was perfect for my family. All five of us had our own room and bathroom. The property was a large beautiful property next to the beach. You can walk down the beach to the town and all of the activities in Tamarindo. We were visited by about a dozen howler monkeys one day. Absolutely loved our stay here.
