Remer, Minnesota
Nestled in the Chippewa National Forest 3 1/2 hours north of the Twin Cities and 5 minutes out of Remer is 17 acres with a handscribed log lodge on Upper Milton Lake waiting for you to come relax and enjoy nature. It is a birdwatcher’s paradise with eagles, osprey, herons, bitterns and many other songbirds calling it home. The North Country National Scenic Trail intersects the driveway lending access to miles of trails and wilderness where you’ll find wildflowers, berries, grouse, woodcock, deer, bear, and timber wolves. Whether you want to cast a line off the floating dock in everyone’s “secret” fishing lake, gather around the campfire watching the northern lights or sit cozily inside by the fireplace this Northwood’s retreat is the place for you.
Amenities: Come get away from it all.. The log lodge was built in the 1980’s by the owner and her husband with the logs taken from the land on which the house stands. The shoreline with its water lilies floating alongside the dock was left natural so all could enjoy the way nature intended it to be. New Screenhouse with lakeview being constructed!
The Lodge is 2 ½ story walkout with deck around the main level. The upper loft is a bedroom with a queen-size bed overlooking the living room and a panoramic view of the lake. The main floor has an open floor plan with kitchen, dining room and living room. The gas fireplace is ready with a flick of a switch. There is also a bedroom with twin beds and a full bath on this floor. A spiral staircase leads to the lower level that has a bedroom with queen-size bed, a family room with pull out couch, full bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room.
Down at the lake is a floating dock with a Otter Island Swim raft, along with a new aluminum paddle boat, 2 kayaks, and a 12 ft aluminum row boat.

Perfect place for our family getaway. Loved how private it was. Thanks.
Lovely place. Good fishing. Very few people around if you like privacy.
Eileen was wonderful to work with, very responsive to questions, and everything was perfect.
Stayed here defore with friends . Fishing trip on area lakes. Temps were good the occasional rain shower and wild life was all around. My Wife especially loved the Loons.
Our stay was wonderful. The cabin has anything you might need indoors. Additionally, access to SUP boards, kayaks, a paddle boat, a row boat, and a canoe made our trip. We also spent a lot of time on the floating dock with our dog floating, fishing, and bird watching. This cabin and lake has the seclusion and privacy that is getting harder to find in the Northwoods.
We enjoyed being able to fish off the dock or take our boat to nearby Graves Lake. We caught SO MANY fish from the dock. We really enjoyed the rowboat too. The dog and i took many walks down to the road where the beaver dam is. Very nice.
We have been coming here for several years and it never disappoints!! Always have such a wonderful time with our family. So many memories made ?
Fits us all, very private
The property was gorgeous - exactly what we were looking for in a northwoods escape! We had bonfires, hikes - even saw a wolf! The cabin was as cozy as could be. Everything we needed was provided from kitchen items to outdoor fun. A short trip to Remer provided some cute shops and a great cafe. (The Woodsman) The owner was easily reached and fantastic to deal with. Would absolutely rent again!!!
This property was great! Very secluded property with tons of great hiking trails close by. All kinds of water toys available to use including a canoe, paddle boards and kayaks which were very nice. We would definitely stay here again.
Very easy
Nice quite cabin, in the middle of nowhere. Very big log cabin. Lots of firewood for bonfire every night. Warp around deck, able to watch hummingbirds all day long from the deck. Nice little lake for using paddleboat, kayaks , and canoe. In town of Remer check out the ice cream shop. Only 30 minutes from Walker to shop, go out for dinner, and the casino. Plus lots of lakes near by for fishing.
The pics and property description do NOT give this place justice! It is all that it says it is AND more! Myself, my husband, our college age daughter, her boyfriend, and our 10yr daughter, never ran out of things to do during our stay. There was one rainy-ish day and we couldn't be out on the water playing with all the wonderful toys or fishing. But it didn't matter because the lodge is stocked with card and board games, interesting books to thumb through, and a smart-tv in the upstairs livingroom so movies with popcorn and smores were another great option. We can't wait to go back. Maybe a winter ice fishing weekend? This destination works for ALL seasons. Thanks Eileen. You are great hosts and we appreciated all of the extra efforts made and small touches that make this truly feel like home away from home. See you again soon!
We had a great time at this property. The cabin is beautiful and well stocked. The lake only has two cabins and is very quiet and peaceful. We will definitely return.
We will stay again
Enjoyed our time at this rustic log cabin. Plenty of water toys to enjoy. Spent most of the time on Graves lake.
The cabin is wonderful. Full amenities. Beautiful surroundings. The lake is nice for crappie and panfish. Fishing is rough for anything else. If you're planning to do serious fishing on the lake, you may be disappointed.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely visit again!
Absolutely a beautiful cabin was more than what was expected. Give me trips across the lake and wakeboarding were fun even though the water was very cold. Definitely will plan on coming back sometime
My son and I came back for a second stay here. We like it so much for the comfortable atmosphere, and amenities, especially use of watercraft. The fishing was awesome this year, both off the dock and on the water. The hosts informed us of a power outage after a severe storm the day before our arrival. We chose to stay anyway and it came back on the next morning. The hosts, Eileen and Ed, were very helpful in guiding us as to where the emergency candles etc were and advising us to get drinking water. We had a great time in spite of the power outage. I love watching the hummingbirds at the feeder on the deck .
I stayed here with two of my closest friends for a long weekend of fishing. This place exceeded our expectations. Way more than enough room for 3 guys, right on the lake, all amenities were ready for us, and Eileen had even left some awesome local honey for us! Would definitely recommend the wonderful cabin!
