Stayed Dec 31, 1969If you are looking for a quiet getaway in the hills of Pennsylvania close to the ski resort of Elk Mountain...this is it! I cannot say enough about this property. It was everything we hoped it would be and MORE. Secluded enough but still close enough to enjoy shops and stores and ELK MOUNTAIN! We went for walks up and down the small country (paved) road and met a delight of a donkey named Jessie. Of course I fell in love. We had camp fires in the firepit across the tiny trickling stream which overlooked a gorgeous field with unbelievable sunset views. Morning runs up and down the road we're good for my soul and the brisk clean air was needed! Again, I can't say enough about this place except that I want to go back and LIVE THERE! Absolute HEAVEN!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969For our anniversary, we wanted someplace where we could bring our dogs, relax, enjoy nature, and hike without worry. This home fit the bill perfectly! We were absolutely spoiled by the comfortable, open layout and the lovely private hiking trail right outside our door. We had no problem navigating to the home using Google maps but I do recommend arriving during the day if you can, we were traveling after work and it's easy to forget just how dark it can be out there! Arriving in the pitch dark and finding all the lights with excited dogs in tow was a little chaotic. Other than that, checking in and getting settled was easy, and there were helpful informative signs and maps all over the house. This was a perfect blend of outdoorsy and creature comforts, and was easily the most pet friendly stay we've ever had. The dogs settled in right away and enjoyed wildlife watching through the windows, hiking on long lines, and tracking the deer smells through the property. They can sometimes be reactive when we travel, so the fact that we didn't have to worry about the sounds of traffic or neighbors arriving home, or running into other hikers while out exploring meant all of us got the chance to truly decompress and recharge. The home itself was clean and comfortable with practical amenities and plenty of space, with a large double shower and jetted tub in the en suite bathroom and a great media setup, all perfect for relaxing after a good day of hiking and campfires. Pack a good pair of waterproof boots, some flashlights or headlamps, and plenty of snacks and you will have a lovely time! We definitely felt bittersweet about our trip ending, and we hope to come back for a longer visit soon!

Stayed Aug 17, 2024We have big dogs and wanted to be able to be off-leash without worry and this property was perfect for that. The house is simple and sweet, lots of directions and maps posted around the house. Not fancy but very comfy and easy. Only tiny complaint was figuring out the shower in the small bathroom is a trick.

Stayed Jun 3, 2024This place is amazing. My husband and I have been doing our vacations via VRBO since Covid. This is one of the nicest homes we stayed in. The house was spotless, kudo’s to the cleaning team. It was also well stocked throughout the house. The property grounds were beautiful. There are tons of blueberry bushes, it was too early for us to pick, but I bet in a month or so it will be quite a treat. You will not be disappointed booking this VRBO! Once again, I’d like to thank the owners for sharing this gem with us.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969As a repeated visitor, my family and I always enjoy spending time at Lazy Bear Lodge. It’s a wonderful place to create wonderful memories. Even though the weather wasn’t the greatest we still had a wonderful time. The atmosphere is calming and refreshing. Looking forward to visiting again.

Stayed Dec 20, 2023Great stay, plenty of room and we all enjoyed the home and the surrounding grounds. Would stay again gladly. In winter you will want a vehicle that can drive on rural roads if you have snow, which we had no issues. Great place.
