Mountain Retreat is a country styled home nestled among cedar, pine, and cottonwood trees. Completely secluded on over an acre and boardering National Forest, Mountain Retreat is the perfect location for hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, whitewater rafting, hiking, or simply relaxing. Located 10 miles north of Gardiner, MT, the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, and about .75 miles from Hwy 89 Mountain Retreat is close to the action but far enough away to miss the crowds. <br>
Cedar Creek, a native cutthroat spawning stream, flows along the edge of the house which provides breathtaking views out of many windows throughout the home. The sound of the creek lulls you to sleep at night for an incredibly restful and relaxing experience.

Mountain Retreat is ideally located for those who want easy access to fishing and hiking. From your doorstep a mile and a half easy hiking trail takes you up the mountain to the OTO Dude Ranch. The OTO is steeped in history and illustrates the fascination so many have with the American West at the turn of the century. The book Music, Saddles, and Flapjacks, a copy is located at Mountain Retreat for your reading pleasure---is a great read about the pioneers of the dude ranching movement at the OTO. If fishing is what you're after, Mountain Retreat is 10 mins from 4 different fishing accesses. The Yellowstone River is a blue ribbon trout stream and excellent river to hone your fly-fishing skills on and enjoy a day on the water.

We love our piece of paradise along Cedar Creek and want to share it with our guests. Mountain Retreat is a unique property and we will strive to make sure it is the best experience possible for you!

The house has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other has a double bed. It also has a multi-use room with two single beds. There is 1 bathroom in the house. The living room has a fire-place and views of the beautiful surroundings out both picture windows. Along the back of the house is a covered porch with chairs and a BBQ grill for your use along with a picnic table all looking out at Cedar Creek.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. It’s located in such a great spot, just a short drive into town. We enjoyed the location and the creek is absolutely stunning. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the cabin but when we did we had the windows open to hear the beautiful sounds of the creek. We also loved being able to hike the trail close to the house. It’s rustic, but comfortable. Beds were nice. We enjoyed being able to cook out on the grill. Diane was great with any help we needed during our stay. If I ever visit Yellowstone again I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We loved the stay. There is beautiful Creek flowing along the house and it actually feels like a stay in the woods. We did hear some noise one night on our door but didn't have the courage to check it out so we just switched off all lights for a while and the doors & windows were already closed. During nights, the area is pitch dark but it is beautiful during daylight.

Loved the location, privacy, quiet and the running creek. Falling asleep with the windows open with the sound of water was so relaxing. House was very comfortable and clean. Kitchen was well stocked. Enjoyed time in the backyard relaxing. It was also close to Yellowstone Hot Springs, 2 miles and the Northgate of Yellowstone was 10 miles. We enjoyed both locations. Would enjoy coming back.

Cabin was at the end of a gravel road and next to a small creek and open rolling hills. 25 to 30 minutes to Mammoth Hot Springs.Building was clean but interior was a little dated and room layout was a bit odd. But worked for three kids and three adults. We probably would stay again if in the area.

This property was perfect for our 2 day visit to Yellowstone! It's only 15 minutes out of town. The property is secluded and the creek provides perfect white noise! Just note that if you have a bigger family you'll need to plan out your showers because the hot water doesn't last long!

We have stayed at several “rustic” cabins, and we really liked this one. The location is secluded but easy to get to. It is clean and recently updated, and the host left some goodies for us for our stay. The kitchen is suitable for cooking, with the essential cook wear and some spices and such. There was plenty of room to spread out, with outdoor spaces to relax. My research shows there are indeed cutthroat in the trout creek, but perhaps early in the year it seems the runoff is a little high to fish it- for me anyway. The sound of the water adds to the ambience. There is a hiking trail to an historic ranch nearby, which looked fun, but we didn’t get a chance to go.When we get back to this part of the country, we will definitely try to book this property again.

We loved staying in the Gardiner area. It was the perfect mix of not too busy, but with great attractions. This home gave us space to spread out as a family (ages 15,12, and 10) after days of cramped hotel stays, teenagers…need I say more!?! We joked that we each had a wing of the house. We also enjoyed the well stocked kitchen. We made lasagna one night and grilled burgers another night, and made breakfast each morning. Again, after eating out as much as we did it was nice to have some home cooked meals. The stream was roaring in June and we loved hearing it at night and while we ate our meals. While here we took a break from YNP and did a Saddle & Paddle trip that was a highlight for our children. We were in the perfect location to ride horses in the Gallatin National Forest and got to paddle the Yellowstone River (the kids even got to swim in it!) Look up Wild West Rafting, they were also great! We could not recommend this place more to another family! We would book again if we ever came back! Clean, spacious, and close but far enough away to take a break from the crowds! Don’t even think twice about this place!

Our family of 5 (3 young adult sons) enjoyed our stay at this cozy cabin retreat close to YNP. The property is very private and next to a stream. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable. Easy check-in/check-out. The owner is great to communicate with and also very accommodating to an additional need of ours. We had a great vacation!

The property was the perfect escape from reality—peacefully tucked away from it all. After a long day exploring Yellowstone, the sound of the nearby stream was pure bliss. Our family enjoyed hiking around the cabin, and we truly cherished the time together. The stargazing at night was absolutely breathtaking.

My husband and I had the most wonderful stay at this charming mountain home. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the stunning surrounding landscape, so picturesque with a creek, trees, and an adorable bunny! The location was wonderfully secluded yet so close to town offering the best of both worlds.. Our hostess and her daughter were fantastic-warm and welcoming, and incredibly attentive to our needs, ensuring that we had a great experience during our vacation. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. I will definitely be returning!

This cabin on a mountain is an excellent base camp for a Yellowstone Trip. It is a bit of a drive away from the actual Park, but it's worth it to get away from the crowds and relax near the running stream. Excellent property that we hope to stay at again during our next Yellowstone adventure.
