The perfect year-round family getaway! Spend time playing outside at the playgrounds right outside your front door, cooking s'mores over the fire, or exploring the nearby Mississippi River town of Lansing, IA. Deer sightings right from the cabin are common, so be on the lookout right after dawn and right before dusk. 10 acres of land to roam around with your pet or for a leisure stroll!

If keeping your young ones entertained is your goal (we have 3 young kids), then book now! We have2 playgrounds, a large sandbox, outdoor toys, and a brand new zip-line! We get asked this quite often, “Is it private ” Yes, it is; it’s all on our privately owned 166-acre property!

In the wintertime, we have sleds to do some sledding or bring your snowshoes for a hike around the property!

Want to stay inside Cozy up to a movie on the two different smart TVs or play the 10+ board games with the family. Indoors or out, this is a great place to make lasting memories together no matter what time of year.

The main level features a full bath, 1 bedroom with a queen-sized bed off of the kitchen, a spacious living room, and a dining area with a complete kitchen. (Utensils, pots and pans, Keurig coffee maker, microwave)
Don’t worry about packing linens or towels; we provide a clean and comfortable stay!
There is a loft with a full and twin-size bed and plenty of children's toys!
The basement has a full bathroom, bedroom with a king-sized bed, and another large living room with a TV (same features as the upstairs TV) and a cozy couch.
The main level has YouTube TV, along with Netflix and access to various apps on smart TVs. Wireless internet throughout the house for those pesky emails and to entertain the teenagers :)

There are two fire pits on the property; firewood is included with your stay. There are marshmallow roasting sticks, fire starter, and plenty of chairs to sit down and relax with a cold beer, glass of wine, or a juice box!

A gas grill is located on the cabin porch. (Propane is provided, and in the event you run out, we have extras on site)

Activities nearby include trout streams, boating or fishing on the Mississippi, plenty of local shops, restaurants, bars, a grocery store, and gas stations just 5 minutes away. For hiking or hunting enthusiasts, there are 1000+ acres of public land to explore in multiple directions of Lansing.
Mt. Hosmer lookout has hiking trails and two river view lookouts! The view is absolutely amazing! A must-see for everyone. There are restrooms, picnic areas, and a playground there as well.
Prairie Du Chien and LaCrosse, WI are both a 45-minute drive away for other exploration opportunities.

And if trout fishing is your aim, you should also check out some of the finest coldwater trout streams anywhere: Lansing Clear Creek at Clear Creek Park (only about a 2-minute drive from the cabin; 1972 South Road on the west edge of town); Wexford Creek (1416 Great River Road) and the French Creek Wildlife Area, to name a few. Check with the DNR to find which area streams are stocked on a regular basis.

There are two boat landings if the Mississippi is your destination. Both are about a 5-10 minute drive from the cabin, and we have plenty of parking on-site for multiple boats.

If you’re looking for something different, we also have another property that overlooks the Mississippi River high atop the bluff located just across the river near Desoto, WI. Property ID #2045955

Note: There is a second cabin owned by us that my father stays at occasionally. We do not rent this house. The two houses are far enough apart for privacy. If he is on-site (which is rare) for your stay, he can lend a hand with any issues that may come up, give recommendations, and offer UTV rides! Let us know if you have any questions.

Very cute cabin. It was clean & well stocked. Beautiful setting. The cabin and land are both well maintained. Not far off the main road, but it feels secluded.

We have nothing negative to say at all! The place was in great shape and clean! The location is absolutely perfect. It's just close enough to town and yet gives you the secluded feeling. We enjoyed not having to bring our own chairs and firewood, it's the little things! It's a perfect place to bring your family with lots to do at the VRBO without leaving!

Great time overall! Kids loved the outside space (especially fire pit!). Playground equipment needed some sprucing up and the zip line was slightly unsafe (for my kids, at least, who were 4 & 6). Kitchen was great for home-prepared meals. Communication with host was prompt and helpful.

We had a great time! The house was nice and the kids enjoyed having some new toys to play with in the mornings and evenings. They’ve decided to call it “the fun house.” We really appreciated that it was dog-friendly.The town of Lansing is a refreshing blast from the past. The coffee house on the river has great breakfast and I enjoyed the attached fishing museum. The Driftless visitor and education center down the road is an absolute must-visit, especially if you have kids. Holding a snake there was one of their favorite parts of the trip. The view from the park (I forget the name) was incredible with some good hiking trails. And I almost forgot to mention Horsfalls variety store. That was fun to explore! One tip for anyone staying - many of the business are cash only, so stop at the ATM before venturing out.

This cabin is AMAZING! It was spotless, beautifully decorated, and homey to us the moment we walked in. The kids instantly loved the playgrounds, multiple bikes to ride, the zipline, and the endless toys in the sandbox. Then the toys and books upstairs kept them entertained for hours. It is the best rental property if you like to have the country life feel and keep your kids entertained for hours. Joe and his family were so accomdating and answered us whenever we needed anything. If you are looking to stay in the NE Iowa area, please rent this cabin. You won't regret it!

This cabin had plenty of space for our family of 6! The property as well as the cabin are well maintained and clean. If you have children, this place is well equipped! There was a portable crib and a variety of toys for all ages. There is also board games, bikes, and trikes for littler kids. The playgrounds are wonderful and we especially loved that they are in view from the back deck. I even noticed there was a side rail under the bed upstairs for smaller children. We appreciated the small things we noticed, even if we didn't need them. This property had everything we needed and the only thing we had to work around was blocking the stairs from our 10 month old. The cabin has a gate in the main level bedroom but it just wasn't wide enough. The gate would come in handy to use in the main level bedroom.

The cabin was exactly as described and shown in pictures, it’s such a wonderful peaceful place. Seamless check-in and check-out, it was ready and clean for our stay when we arrived, even with some rain the gravel roads were safe.It is so comfy, roomy and well equipped, kind of modern, everything works and is in good condition, comfortable beds, nice hot shower, there are perks hard to find elsewhere, like a Nest thermostat, wireless phone chargers (we didn’t even use the chargers we brought), a Roku TV perfect for streaming movies and TV shows at night and Alexa. The covered back porch is great to relax while watching nature unfold. We have stayed in cabins before and this one is definitely way beyond average. The property outdoors is wonderful, full of wildlife, well cared for landscape, a hammock to relax, two fire pits and lots of green space. They are nice enough to mow a short walking trail around the property bushes, we could go on 20-minute walks with our dog without leaving the premises, just perfect for morning and evening walks. The nearby town Lansing is charming, very friendly and the scenic views from Mt Hosmer and other areas are a thrill, totally worth the trip. We also drove up to La Crosse, WI (55 min drive), the drive itself along the Mississippi is already worth, but the town is another hidden treasure. We had the best time and hope to come back some day. Thank you to the owners!

The area was really nice, we had a lot of outside time during the day, mixed with visiting various playgrounds around the area and at the property. We enjoyed all of creatures that frequent the property but kept our distance. While a bit startling it was amazing to hear a huge pack of howls one night. One night we enjoyed the fire pit, while another we enjoyed a cozy movie night in the cabin. Thanks for sharing such a nice cabin with us.

This was our second time to this property with the first being 3.5 years ago during COVID. The property is peaceful, close to Lansing for food etc, and has all the cooking essentials you'll need including a coffee pot/k cup combo. I highly recommended staying here!
