Local Attractions

Nestled on the beach in the heart of the famous Southern Vales wine region, the area offers the best of the coast and country and yet is an easy 50km from the heart of Adelaide.

This cosy seaside haven is framed by the rolling Mt Lofty Ranges offering sweeping vistas that are carpeted by verdant vineyards with splashes of olive groves.

With its protective reef shelf to the south and a broad bay on Gulf St Vincent, the area was once all about sailing ships but is now all sea change and holiday houses high on the limestone cliffs.

A variety of beach experiences await within minutes of your doorstep - from the sheltered cove and surfing breaks of Port Willunga, the family friendly drive on stretch of golden sand from Aldinga Beach to Sellicks, the fisherman's friend and divers delight of the reef or the nudist beach at nearby Maslins.

While the green and blue gulf waters below the cliffs mean lazy days on the beach for most, the area is also a focus for diving with a unique Aquatic Reserve established in the waters off the beach to protect a rare reef formation.

Boasting international stars as local holiday house owners, these new denizens of seaside chic don't have to go far for a good espresso. The area offers renowned establishments including Star of Greece café with drop-dead gorgeous sea views, while several new nearby Cafes and pop-up vans offer excellent sea side casual eating alternatives.

This happy haven is also but a stones throw from the multitude of award winning wineries complimented by a smorgasbord of restaurants, coffee shops and galleries that meander through the nearby Southern Vales.

As South Australia's best kept secret, the area offers the best of all worlds from perfect escapes for summer family holidays to winter getaways with wine tasting beside crackling fires or even hang gliding for the more adventurous. This rich relaxed tapestry is just waiting for you to discover - and once you had a taste of the fabulous Fleurieu you'll just keep coming back!

modest but very well appointed historical cottage with wooden floorboards, pressed tin ceilings, a small extension, modern kitchen and bathrooms. On a massive double block at the end of a one way road, the house feels rural, relaxing and private, the setting is luxurious. Overlooks an ephemeral creek and beautiful bushland that's full of birds and could be in the Barossa or the Flinders. Walk to the fabulous beaches on various shady tracks. Old and new floors are at different heights, with lots of little steps up and down, which isn't for everyone. But overall a peaceful heritage getaway close to Adelaide that feels miles from anywhere.

A wonderful cottage in the perfect Port Willunga location. So close to the beach and access to walking trails. We enjoyed walking to and from the beach easily and exploring the local area. The perfect base. The cottage itself is lovely, spacious with all the amenities we needed for a family with 3 small kids. A big yard to burn off energy, a large well equipped kitchen and modern bathrooms. Would definitely come back again.

This stunning, beautifully presented and prepared home served us so very well for a family weekend. The location is incredible, easy walking distance from the beach, but out of the way of the throngs of cars on the esplanade on a summer's day. The home has everything you could hope for, and nights were silent and dark! Heaven.

The house was exactly as described & just perfect for our family . The house is very well equipped from the kitchen to outdoor games, beach shade , bbq etc. We loved the short stroll to the beautiful beach, & hours spent on the shaded deck enjoying the bird life, G&T’s etc. Our little 2 years loved the large lawn area for ball games etc. We we’re blessed with fabulous weather much appreciated by our visiting UK family . The only thing missing was a coffee machine . We’d love to stay again. Thankyou Jane & Rodger
